Do you all not find it strange that Holt was loaned out despite the manager saying only two weeks or so ago that he was not going to be loaned out?

      http://www.wigantoday.net/sport/wigan-athletic/latics-news/caldwell-rubbishes-holt-rumours-1-7507333

If its about wages, in the grand scheme of things, surely having a player who (clearly, because he has been loaned to Wolves) is Championship standard, is better for the club than saving a few quid for two months?

The club will come out with some bullshit cock and bull story and the ‘Sheep’ will go along with it! :)

I use it pretty much daily for football fixtures worldwide (click previous or next and it will move you through the days past and future) It has a massive search engine, it’s where I get my Delort and Riera updates from
Also does score updates in running. Site can be a bit sticky though.

Soccerway, it’s the only way! :)

Bloody hell Fill I shall take you up on that. That was their set at Glastonbury from last year I was watching.

They will be playing Cosmosis festival at Victoria Warehouse on 12th March next year but tickets for that have shot up! Decent early line up though and loads more to be added! Not sure what the script is re guest lists for that but I reckon they will play both Liverpool and Manchester separately while they are here! It’s their 25th anniversary tour of Australia next month! Rob owes me a favour so guest lists at normal gigs shouldn’t be a problem but festivals? If he could wangle anything for Cosmosis I will be having those!! ha ha

Again it is up to Gary. Play positive attacking football we get results. Sit back and take the gear down a notch and owt can happen. Just watching The Brian Jonestown Massacre ont tele, I hope Latics play as well as these men are playing then it would be a banker away win.

I know those guys well, good set of lads apart from Ricky Maymi, he’s a cunt! If you ever want putting on the guest list at any of their gigs just give us a shout and I’ll sort it for ya! ;)

By all reports and from seeing the goals on Sky it looked like another great game for him last night at Peterborough. It would be good to keep him. He must put the fear in defenders when he is on one of those runs. Can anybody remember a player at Latics who could burst through from deep in the field to create chances for himself and his team mates. Gets the old grey matter going that one.

N’Zogbia wasn’t too shabby at doing that!

                          Once bitten, twice shy, Phil.

We’re not falling for that one again.

What I am saying is the manager, any manager is culpable when things go wrong, just as they are lauded when things fall into place, that is football for you! Look at Liverpool for instance, they decided that a 1-1 draw away to Everton was the final straw for Rodgers. Bit unfair but the lack of good results lays at the feet of one man and one man only, the manager!

How can we ever forget those amazing scenes when we lifted the cup but also all those idiotic tactical decisions that relegated us and all those statements about loving our club so much. Bob created the bad feeling by entering into the swap triangle probably before the season was anywhere near finishing. If only he had just seen getting Latics back into the Premier League as important as getting Everton into the Champions League or could I be wrong and it wasn’t about ambition but more about becoming a bigger millionaire than what Latics had already made him. This thread should never end. Thank you LHL who incidently at one time was a major fan of Bob but an even greater fan of WAFC. His football was shit by the way. Boring shit.Apart from about twenty games in his entire time here. Boring shite!!!

                            Let’s not rewrite history!

Compared to other Premier League teams, Wigan clearly had limited resources, both in the size of the squad and the quality of the players. Roberto was also fighting on two fronts; the Premier League and the FA Cup. But he didn’t have the resources to compete in both.

The general consent on this forum was that winning the cup was more important than staying in the Premier League. Roberto overcame all the team’s injuries to produce a makeshift team and a winning performance in the face of the mighty Manchester City.

I suppose that Roberto could have fielded a reserve team in the Cup Final, and a fresh first team against Arsenal three days later. But even that may not have been enough to save the Latics.

In his time as manager, Roberto had to reduce the size of the already modest wage bill substantially – just as other teams were spending much more. The result was inevitable.
Under Martinez Wigan Athletic won the FA Cup.

It seems I have to keep repeating this but some people really don’t understand the significance. No ah buts or what ifs need to be added since they are unnecessary.
So he takes the kudos for the FA Cup and rightfully so but is blameless for the Swansea game!

                            Disclaimer- Serious post :)

‘The proof of the pudding is in the eating.’ A tongue in cheek thread started by Alistair that has proved to be the most popular thread in the history of Cockney Latic! Even those who constantly repudiate it keep coming back for more! I bet Griff wasn’t wanting Bob to do well yesterday eh! A good day all round!

… but did you even listen to a word I told you on our walk to the ground on several occasions?

Don’t be fucking stupid, of course I didn’t listen! I even asked Eddie to open the back door of the beer garden on a few occasions so I could escape that way without bu,ping in to you lot.

But as you said earlier only 80% of your stuff is wind-up. I think your Swansea/Caldwell stuff falls into the 20% that you actually believed but back-tracked in the face of overwhelming opposition. I imagine so anyway, I really couldn’t be arsed reading it. Someone told me about it yesterday in the pub.

And for the record, despite there being a lot of people on here who think I am a wind-up merechant, nothing could be further from the truth. 99% (I haven’t done the actual math) of what I post on here is what I actually think and will stand by.

Finally, the liar comment wasn’t aimed at you. The bullshitter one was, though. But, if you say 80% of what you post is wind-up then you are, by definition, a bullshitter 80% of the time ;)

Anyway, goodbye. Clearly nothing to see here
How sanctimonious of you! Just like when I introduced you to Ian McNeil’s Grandson and you came out with some derogatory comment and then turned your back on him! You went down in my estimation that day! You really do need to brush up on your people skills!
Re Swansea game, I just picked that game because it was the proverbial nail in the coffin for Wigan’s survival hopes and I seem to remember a thread on here that had several posters calling Martinez for playing Caldwell and not playing Gomez from the start. I even had to research the result to see that we did indeed relinquish the lead twice because my memory of the game really is that vague, and there you have it, a pop at Bob’s tactics to get a rise from the usual suspects and it worked! It really is that simple but you know better and your word is ‘King’, well it is to Samantha! ;)

Perkins MOM for me – never stops.

Although got to say that for 60mins watching Wilchut was worth my season ticket price alone.

Agree 99.9% Would have been 100%, but I don’t pay for my season ticket ;)
But you do donate the money you would have spent to a good cause right? The full amount! :)
