We can go on like this all day Standish but the fact of the matter is he is defensive coach and the defence is shoite so he must take some of the blame. So he can’t be that good at his job either that or you may have to question Bob’s signings
Because our defence is absolute shoite, enough said.
Yep, hands up. Your reasoned post has got me.
Sorry Standish but that’s how it is the defence is poor and if I was defensive coach I would be having a few sleepless night’s.
WHO
No I do remember him playing for Wrexham. Another member of our backroom staff who is way out of his depth. No wonder we are doing so well is it
Arsene Wenger? WHO?
He never even made it as a footballer. What good is he going to be in a coaching job? Jose Mourinho?
Sven Goran Eriksson? Roy Hodgson? Gerard Houllier? Paul Jewell? Ian Holloway? How do you know he’s out of his depth? Is it because he never player football at a high level?
Thats one thing that beggars belief – no defence coach
We have a defence that leaks and still leaks goals by making silly mistakes, some /most of our defenders cant defend simple as that – and why oh why no one on the posts at corners
Ans = our manager says we dont need one
why have a goalkeeping coach then?
We’ve had Dennis Lawrence employed since the start of the season to work with the defence as a coach.
Negative? Outsiders would have seen that as an exciting game last night. Plenty of chancesa and end-to-end football. As for MOST people wanting Bobby out, that’s just not the case. Most of the noisy, whiny people want Bob out, but they are not the majority. The majority want to support Wigan Athletic and not get involved in this constant whinnying like horses being castrated.
So how much more of this cr&p do we have to watch???? If we go down this season do we stick with Bob??? If we go down next season or don’t get promoted do we stick with Bob???
When is enough enough?????
Great post and it is just unfortunate that some will ridicule it. The future is going to be bleak for some clubs, our current set it trying to make sure we have a club to follow what ever league we are in.I agree with what your saying Jayt and know one wants us to be Portsmouth or Leeds but and it’s a big but.
We have a half decent squad of players not the best but IMO not the worst in the Division. So why are we so poor??? the manager has to take responsibility has he not.
‘You don’t know what you’re doing?’Shall we get out our coaching badges and compare? Cos I’m sure that the idiots in the east stand know infinitely less about the beautiful game than the manager.
I was frankly embarrassed by the way some of our ‘fans’ treated Roberto last night. It’s time some of you clowns had a reality check. I found myself agreeing last night with all the arseholes in the media who knock us continually – last night some of our fans proved that we don’t deserve a Premier League team.
I don’t buy into the ‘JCL’ argument, but seriously, if you have only been watching Latics for 10 years or less, then please go away and read some history. We are a club equivalent to Rochdale, Morecambe, Macclesfield, Hartlepool etc. And yet we’re playing in the Premier League. The fans of those clubs would give anything for one season of what we’ve had. The jokers in the east stand last night need to realise that you don’t always win at football.
Also, can you try to understand that although Dave Whelan is rich beyond belief compared to the likes of you and I, his wealth is nothing compared to the kind of people who are bankrolling other Premier League clubs. I have it on very good authority that the way Bruce, Benson and Spencer had been running the club, we were just throwing money away. Roberto has introduced a salary cap and is trying to build the club properly and get us playing attractive football with good young players who don’t rape the club of money. Would you rather have Mario tossing it off on £40k a week, or McCarthy, McArthur, Moses, and Cleverley on a combined wage of £40k?
This is Roberto who is doing this. He wants the best for Wigan Athletic. He REALLY does. He turned down 3 bigger clubs to come here. He is one of the best young managers in World Football and he WANTS to be our manager. He’s not using us as a stop gap like melon head at Sunderland. I cannot believe how lucky we are to have him. And yet some people are happy to drive him out.
Get behind Roberto and the boys, or F*ck off somewhere else.
One of the best managers in the world
As you say, we all have differing opinions and I appreciate not all the moaners are JCLs, I only say that to wind a few people up. I have also been watching the Latics for many years – 35 and counting now. However what I don’t accept is this immediate reaction to boo certain players and boo the manager when he is making changes to a team that isn’t working. My reaction at times is to shout angrily if something goes wrong but I don’t boo them. I believe that the noise our fans create when they are getting behind the team is vital to any fight for survival.
I believe every one of our players put their hearts and souls into the game last night and we have a manager who is willing the live and breath Wigan Athletic, just like us. We are amazingly luck in that respect. Remember Steve Loyalty Bruce. Maybe things are not all rosy at the moment but we do have time to turn things around, even if it means relegation from the Prem.
I honestly believe that in years to come Bobby will build a team that plays attractive football and will win trophies at the top level. However I am also realistic enough to accept that we will not break into that horrendous monopoly at the top of the Prem.
I am the kind of supporter who gets angry when someone slags off my team. I am devastated when it is our own fans. Again I accept people have a right to air their views but to boo players coming on the pitch is totally out of order and has only started to happen this year.
But ask yourself why it has started this year.
The manager has been in post 18 months and not only is the team not improving it’s getting worse. Most of the fans I speak to have had enough so Bob take your one up front negative tactics with you and fook off.
PLEASE!!
I can see strengths in both sides of the argument i.e how to support your club. To boo or not to boo that is the question!Personally i have never boo’d Wigan but have had the odd moan in the pitches general direction. How do fans get the message across to the club if they feel they have a genuine grievance?
The word ‘genuine’ is paramount here, in that considering our limitations e.g cash, injuries do we feel that we could be doing better with what we have.
I have come to the conclusion that i think most fans now do feel that this is the case, that although we may still stay up (not likely), that they think (myself included) that we could and should be doing more.
Obviously this is hard to determine from outside the inner sanctum of the club because we do not know what really goes on.e.g type/ length of training, motivational coaching etc and so how do we make an impact?
Yes, you can sit and cheer your team but at what stage do you have to make a stand for your club and say “i think with what we have we should be doing better”? It is not for us to come up with solutions because we are not the professionals but if you are paying for a service and that service is substandard to what you expected, do you complain or sit still and put up with it?
I know football is a different entity than receiving a service but surely fans should be allowed to vent their frustrations.
I think mostly with fans it is the fact that we cannot see anything positive in regards of formation changes, different personnel and even in some matches the dreaded boot up field if thats what it takes on a particular day to secure a win.
Most fans know that one day relegation would knock on the door but most of us would like to go down fighting than what it seems at times, a lack of motivation ( i mean real pit of the stomach, would give everything for wigan stuff) from the players.
Well said Lowton a superb post and probably sums up the frustration most of the so called Dark Side are feeling.
The fightback?
Are you taking the pi$$!!!!
What fight back??? we lost again. MARTINEZ OUT NOW
I’ll be sad to see him go, football on Sky will not be the same.
If Whelan thinks it’s just a change of luck we need then he should fook off with our clown of a manager.
Hats off to you all.
Did you make the game pal or did some sexy barmaid make you stay in pub ha ha..
Went home and away all through the divisions and first few season in the Premier League but very rarely go away now due to a number of reasons, the main one being we are absolute cack. But I don’t go and sit in the pub with a Tic’s shirt on either, I have a life outside watching football so was busy yesterday.
I’m hoping that if we are crap again on Tuesday, people start opening their mouths.Make it clear, we’ve had enough.
Sorry Vat if you do that your not a proper fan. We should watch and suffer in silence and not voice an opinion unless it’s positive
Which would you sooner have:Beating Scum in the Cup next week
or
Beating relegationMine would be option 1.
Are you serious????
It has to be staying up cause even if we beat Noblot we wont win the cup and we need the 43 mill to stay afloat.
