Martinez will succeed if the players and the so called fans give him a chance.
It seems like some fans on here cant wait for him to fail then they can say I told you so.
Give him a chance.He is out of his depth in the Prem only time will tell wether he will be a good manager but us giving him a chance will get us relegated.

Sorry but I’m not sure your calculations are right. I saw an interview with DW and he said that the prem had that much money they and us should be letting fans in for free? We made 35 mill from T.V. alone last year and sold at least 18 mill worth of players thats 53 mill without all the other money you get from being in the Prem.
It does not cost that much to run Wigan Athletic we have a tiny squad and a small set up so were does 53 mill or more go? He has never spent big money on players he got lucky with good managers who got him Premier League football on a tiny budget. And with his policy of selling our fan base instead of growing will get smaller. Scharner and watson looked like they had never played the game before. Absolutely no movement from the strikers when we are in possesion, even when there was the distribution was awful. We have the worst squad of players I have seen at Wigan for years, our championship side would have murdered these men. Steve Bruce has been slaughtered on this site for leaving do you all not think he went to DW and asked what his plans for the club were?
And after the sale of Heskey and Wilson it was obvious what he intended no wonder he left!!!!! DW has taken a team that should have qualified for Europe and turned us into relegation certs in 8 months and all for his own greed.

you are right ,think he as took us as far as he can ,and is now raking in whatever he can before he sells up ,but those that are blinkerd cant see it, i remember bill kenyon selling our top players then left us ,also i think we will get one or two games with below 15,000 on this seasonThe way things are going against Fulham we will be lucky to get 10000 cause they never bring any and the people of Wigan wont go with the way the club is being run.
Against Wolves we had 16000 and they brought over 4000 that means just over 12000 Wiganers and that was the first home game and after the Villa win.

I’m a season ticket holder and was long before we got in the Premier League but even I am finding it hard to get excited about how the team and club are being run. He sells all our assets and replaces them with cheap options the man on the streets ain’t gonna pay good money to watch that and surprise there not.
Our crowds this year will be an embarrassment and the only one to blame is our beloved chairman DW.
Read that even if we do sign him he will be loaned back to Palace for the season as part of the deal?

I dont believe that you could post this in a National paper about Mr Whelan, he is a true gentleman who loves Wigan and its people, why dont you just support the man and his ambitions, we know that Wigan will never be the Uniteds of this world and i admire him for being honest not like some of the slime ball owners of clubs please leave him alone he is a pensioner for goodness sake and could be your grandfather!!!If he was my Grandfather I would have told him to shut it by now. The only point I would argue with is blaming the back four for our problems. They are tried and tested at this level if I was casting blame it would be at the midfield. We play 5 there and it’s so easy to pass through us it’s frightening we get the run around even when we have an extra man. Some will say what do you expect against Man U but we also lost to Wolves and looked Very poor against a hard working Championship team.
This guy will not do anything for us, cant shoot, cant tackle (wont tackle) needs to much time on the ball.I agree, first impressions are that he just ain’t up to it which is a worry as Bob was quoted as saying he would be our play maker.
Now, I am a glass half full type of person. There has been a lot of WRLFC posted on here re Bobby which I do not believe is fair or warranted. Lets have some faith in the man.This next 5/10 games is, for ALL Latics fans, gonna be a big test of faith. Faith in Roberto, faith in Whelan, faith in your fellow fan. But most of all, faith in WAFC.

After the Villa game and the way we played people got caried away. Our aim each season is first and foremost to stay up, anything else is a bonus. So lets get behind the team and manager and hope Bob is the right man for the job and we remain in the best league in the world!!!!
How the hell did he get MOTM? He can’t tackle and his sole contribution was to pass the ball back to Bramble and Scharner every chance he got. I thought Bob said he was a creative midfielder. I know it’s early days and we have to give him a chance but he don’t look anything special to me.

One of the best players, on the ball, we have ever seen in a Latics shirt. Never stopped running, never stopped looking for openings, the guy is quality. A very intelligent player.

I watched John Robertson and even before that Jeff Wright, Tommy Gore, Peter Houghton etc.
My question was how did Gomez get MOTM? I would have been hard pressed to pick 1 after Tuesday’s nightmare but i don’t think he was the best Wigan player on the pitch.And as I said I will give him time as it is a big step up form the Championship to the Premier League.
But there’s no need as you already have him down as 1 of the most skillful players ever to wear the shirt. After 2 league games and a few pre season friendlies how do you work that out?

We rescued him from Rotherham were he was a below average 2nd or 3rd division keeper that was a good few years ago and he’s not got better with age.
Kirkland may not be perfect but if he is only half fit, which he is most of the time he’s still better by a country mile than a fully fit Pollitt
