25 August 2010 at 2:45 pm in reply to: Even Bolton Wankers are Laughing at us !!!! Enough is Enough #44112
It’s to be expected we’d be laughing at them if it was the other way round. They’re not exactly ‘fashionable’ themselves are they?.
It’s hard not to be amused by the situation at Wigan Athletic. Getting pasted by Chelsea is a fate that’s befallen quite a few teams recently, but being on the wrong end of a 4-0 drubbing at home to Blackpool can only be classed as utter humiliation. The Latics aren’t particularly significant, but the thought of their relegation has appeal. It’ll be like getting rid of a tramp who’s been sleeping on the doorstep. Now there’s another reason for Whites fans to look at the Premier League’s least fashionable club. Bolton reserve goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi is currently on loan at the Dave Whelan stadium, and rumour has it that Roberto Martinez wants to make the arrangement a permanent one.
‘Why are sending me to Wigan? Why?……….
Al-Habsi has had the misfortune of being around at the same time as Jussi Jaaskelainen, one of the top flight’s most consistent performers. The big Omani hasn’t let anyone down when called upon. He gave a fine display at Bayern Munich in the UEFA cup and performed heroically at the end of the 2007-8 season, when Jaaskelainen was injured. So getting rid would be folly, right? Well, not necessarily. Bolton have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to goal keepers and Adam Bogdan, who made his debut in the League Cup tie at Southampton may prove to be the best of them.
‘I have belief in the lad, that is why we were able to let Ali Al-Habsi out on loan because I knew Adam was competent and ready to go in goal and he showed his qualities in this match.’, said Owen Coyle in an interview after the game.
Regular reserve team watchers already know how good Bogdan is. The Hungary under-21 international arrived in 2007 and it was clear even then that he was a cut above. He’s big, a great all rounder and commands his area well. Since then he’s had the benefit of Fred Barber’s coaching, and is now ready to make the step up.
It will be sad to see Al-Habsi go, but he deserves his chance at the top level, and he’s certainly an improvement on Kamikaze Kirkland, Wigan’s current incumbent. The current bid, thought to be £1.5 million must be rejected, but if the pie-eaters get realistic with their valuation then Owen Coyle should do the deal.
I think Kirky might benefit from playing in the reserves at least 2-3 goals were his fault today. Also why not revert to 4-4-2? as I think we have 2 good centre forwards who could play off each other but are currently isolated all the time with the current tactics. With our 2 gifted wingers we could bypass the congested centre midfield. Maybe a bit risky but against the weaker teams it could gain us a valuable win or two.
Bob never changes his tactics only the personnel and thats what grates me most.
A bit harsh. Bob is trying his best but is simply out of his depth and too scared to do anything different. He’s also lost the players who just look like scared rabbits most of the time.
He should do himself a favour and walk. Maybe go abroad and he might gain valuable experience in a less pressurised environment.
Well our last 4 prem games have been 2-2 , 0-8, 0-4 and 0-6. Not many goals being scored either, a well organised team from the Conference could do better than that so there is something fundamentally wrong.
Kirkland has been bloody awful and the lone striker looked isolated as usual. Martinez is a nice guy and a snappy dresser and good on TV, but he’s got to go while the season is still young.
Whats the big deal? Sky are a commercial company , they’re not the BBC who get handouts via the Licence fee. If McDonalds starting charging extra for salt and ketchup people would either pay it, do without or go to Burger King. Its been great having it on Freeview but it’s too bad.
As for Sky ruining English football? I agree whole heartedly.
The pubs and climate are miles better, those are the things I miss after spending 11 years in London and Eastbourne.
Traffic is shocking and people a lot more pompous.
To both Swindon and Bath Latic, do what I have done boys and move back to glorious Wigan. I was miserable for 27 yrs until I moved back home to Shevvy. Wont ever leave this wonderful place again. :DGood post I’m with you although I did moan last year.
Come on lads and give the bloke support this season.. No matter what.. When he is our manager we should give him support regardless! I for one think he will be a success, more so this season with his own signings. Come on the lads for the new season and come on Roberto!!No chance of relegation!!
Its understandable. But lets give everybody hell this season. Everytime I see Lineker on the box I end up with a sneer on my face. Another reason to hate the BBC and seek its destruction.
Interesting……
he as us for the win for this game but he as us for the trap door?. which he as predicted for the last 6 seasons. he is part of the establishment that cnut. lineker as a sneer on his face when he mentions us when we appear usually last on motd.
The snorting slapper Kerry Katona is not a member of the establishment but she owes millions is a bankrupt and has moved to Surrey to live in a mansion. She doesn’t seem to work these days but still has an agent etc.
Look what the Queen Mother did. Ran up millions on an overdraft and everyone was too scared to say ‘hold on a minute love’.
I think you need to be part of the establishment to have those debts and get away with it !The thing is, given the financial problems in the world, it proves I think we would all do it if we could get away with it !
Couldn’t give a merde. A little green man from Mars can sign as long he can play.
Having said that I wish we had more English players but skin colour is a non issue.I make no judgement one way or the other on this, but on Wednesday the guy behind me in the second half said “our white team are doing better than our blackie team”.Actually – and whisper this – I think we did better in the first half ;)
I totally agree we should never boo our own players its totally counter productive. He should be either loaned out, sold or at least actually played on the left which is his natural position.
The obsession Martinez has with playing wide midfield players on the ‘wrong’ side does not suit all players and with his over reliance on his left foot it causes him and the team big problems playing him on the right all the time. He actually did a few decent crosses last night and may have played better if the boo boys had shut TFU for a change.
I wish they’d go and shove vuvuzelas up own their arses if they want noise for the sake of it.
I thought the right back ‘Jaap’ looked rather good. Got forward a lot more than others we’ve had.
Well at least they were disgusted. Usually they just blame it on football fans.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ go away please.
I have made this thread about rugby. I do enjoy reading the latics forum, and watch the game supporting them. However some of the utter b*ll*cks you chat is beyond me.I cant actually believe you hate “the worriers” or whatever you call them. I read all the warriors forums aswell as the latics, and as much as you like to think you dont get half as much of a mention as you think you do.
There are only a couple of reasons i can think of you as to the reason you dont like them:
A because you dont understand the sport of rugby league
or
B because you dont like the fact that other than a carling cup final. latics have done absolutely f*ck all and have a highest finished spot of 10th in the premier league, and in the last few season they have appeared to finish just above the relegation zone. Whereas have always been right up there in the sport of rugby league.
I dont really give a sh*t if theres more money in football or theres more competition, because the matter of the fact is, is that wigan warriors are competiting at the highest level they possibly can and latics appear to be right down there amongst the worst in the premier league.
I dont care if we share a stadium, the fact is we have a 50 year lease on the stadium you cant change it, either you build us a stadium with the same capacity and facilities or build you one. You cant just cancel our lease, because we could just take you to court, and win a hell of a lot of cash, probably enough to make you end up like portsmouth.
Fine we havent won a major trophy in 7 years, a bit of a dry spell but we have been competiting well this season.
I also cant understand why you are so desperate to beat us with crowds. Its like your trying to pull each clubs pants down to see which has the biggest pair of balls.
So what if Wigan RL got 22,700 at the wire game and hold the record for record attendance at the stadium.
Likewise who cares if we only get 12,000. We have that base of support were we get 11,000 wiganers week in week out. Yet again competiting at the top of RL for attendance, unlike latics whose attendace is poor and would still be considered poor in the championship.
All im gonna say now, is just grow the f*** up.
Fair enough but what are you doing on here then?
:roll:There seem to be a few on here that are completely obsessed with all matters Rugby and seek to make a negative out of anything the club do. You appear to be one of the most obsessed. Do you not have a life between May and September?
Grow up FFS.
(and please dont come back bleating that the latics get slated on C&W because they hardly get a mention)
