How long did it take for the hierarchy to come to the conclusion that this guy is not fit to run a football club? Oh I forgot, they have banned him twice before yet they still let him carry on…..

Next they may take a look at the cracking job Oyston is doing at blackpool

Yeah.

On current form & formation I doubt it Donny…. If we go without a striker again then Newcastle will be too strong for us. Gayle is on fire at the mo :P

I will shout our lads on to a win, alone I will prevail. My Bovril will give me the needs.

I’m not too fussed about formations myself Abram and as you say our midfield don’t support at the moment. Whole idea of one up front is for the midfield / wingbacks to get forward & support but we don’t.
Too many defensive minded midfielders on the pitch so something has to change.

Mate, grip on it, he will recruit in January, and play how he feels we should. Hopefully that is good enough, but we wont know til then.

We can’t progress with all the Jimmyc’s around saying things need to change, because they will when he can.

Famalam says be patient yo.

Rubbish post that chum, 10 years too late buddy, dont like that post pal rubbish mate no good tha mate.

Do one!

Mate pal, Gary Teale is why we are where we are, Gary and Gary alone inspired us to this!
If we was in the Prem when Gary scored that amazing cross/shot into the back of the net that even he was surprised about (at Preston after Roberts’ super debut goal), whilst I was whacking my stupid blow up sticks around, He would have had the Ballon D’or.

Just facts compadre.
Ok mate pal.

Why do people keep going on about waiting till the January window so he can bring in players that fit his style of play? These are not children but a squad of adult, experienced professionals. As such they should be capable of playing in the style that the manager instructs. I think it unlikely that any professional player would deliberately go out and play contrary to their mangers instructions. So either the manager’s tactics are the problem or the players are just not good enough. You watch the games and make up your own mind.

Quite a few of the players aren’t good enough in my opinion.

Most are either lower league, or were deemed surplus to requirements at Championship clubs – hence why they signed for us.

Joyce wants to train and play a different way to Caldwell and I think he suspects some of them aren’t up to it.
That puts us in a right situation then because Mr Joyce will have to be very canny in the January window to improve things drastically. If not it will definitely be all out for the 1 pt a game until May.
Whose fault is this situation then? The Wigan public for not buying enough season tickets to finance the team? Players wages demand too big for us to sustain on our tight budget? Parachute money being used for financial stabilisation rather than buying in and paying wages? Gary Caldwell’s poor dealing? The scouting and recruitment committee? Too much emphasis on balancing the books? The owner not being prepared to put in any more cash for better players? The coaching and bringing on of our own players?
There is a hell of a lot to it so on the field what is Mr Joyce going to do? Gamble on Wildschutt and Grigg getting us out and not being as cautious or put ten men in our own half and withstand a barrage every week?
One thing is I wouldn’t like his job. I know what football I prefer to see but if he can get us out of this hole we all may have to put up with the dull.
Strongly disagree buddy chap.

1 up front argument will rage on but at least 1 striker should actually be a striker……

Anyone tried Google translate?
Oh right ok mate. Have you tried google translate to translate English to English? Personally I couldn’t see the point. You must be from a foreign land. Is that correct? Buddy pal.

You do all realise that a slow trickle through to the keeper counts as a shot on target, while a razzler that hits the bar or just skims the post is off target?
I wouldn’t get too hung up about stats. Stats I think are ruining the game, as players are being judged by sat navs instead of managers just watching and recognising natural talent.

Ah right okay, fair point that, or possibly not.

Just like the camera never lies, the stats don’t either! Some of the attempts ( I use that word very loosely! ) on goal that I have seen have been laughable for professional footballers. Jacobs is the worst offender for poor shooting!

He hits the corner flag more often than not
Maybe, but maybe not.. That is the real determination.

Bickymon, shouldn’t the onus also be on scoring goals as well as not conceding?

The onus is on not to concede. As the game kicks off both teams have a point so have something to protect. It has been argued that no points should be awarded for a nil-nil draw which would most definitely put the onus on teams to attack and go for goals rather than “parking the bus”.
If we went 442 and got stuffed on the break like that 2nd Reading goal everyone would whinge and moan. Cornt please a Wiganer.
