Sorry to some on here, in the past I’ve got carried away with trying to do everything to help.
My desperation was a case of wanting the team do so much better and making myself believe our manager has what it takes,
Been today against my better judgement and can assure you that no way I will ever be asking fans to applaud that.
I really thought we could move on, kidding myself.
No more Wigan cup games with RM in charge, season ticket only, and I won’t ever be asking you to believe again.
Why can we never build? Why throw away our only chance of success? Why keep Boselli? Why play Boyce, our oldest player, if you’re supposed to be giving 1st teamers a rest? Why not play new signings? Why you still got a f….
I still believe we’ll stop up, but I do not believe we will ever improve under the current regime.
All the best to you.Agree Babis, sad but true. And that doesn’t mean your not a true supporter for expressing feelings but more a realist.
Bob’s style of footie will have the game done away with cos it’s so boring. It would appear that RM has caused a bit of a split between fans again. His lack of interest in cup competitions has riled some on here and the natives are restless ! His best squad in 4 years comment was made to look a little silly today in my opinion !
Phil, as much as I like you, yes he has split the fans into two, but it’s not like this is a new thing.
There are those that no what’s going on and accept it, whether they like it or not, and contiunue to support the club (me and the other clever lads)
And then there are those who know what’s going on and can’t be arsed to support the club but can be arsed to log on a Saturday night to moan (you, Melt-down Dave and the others)
I notice on an earlier thread that you questioned who would be going to the replay. Bit rich from someone who couldn’t be arsed to go to the first game and someone barely sees out the full 90 minutes of a home game when you can be arsed to turn up.
Bit unfair that comment Griff.. I, like others have mentioned stayed away today cos i suspected this would happen. Would have been pretty miffed had i av gone today. No brainer for me as football is supposed to be an entertainment thing that excites you, not an endurance test!
Got to listen to second half on radio and the one thing that stood out was the lack of chances we created. Even against a lower league club we still can’t create chances…
steady on jimmyc …. we had our 1st shot on goal today after a mere 40 mins.
 And there was me at 5 past 3 thinking i could be missing something .

After the Bradford match i was adamant i wasn’t going to the FA cups games… But i’m in two minds now cos if i don’t i might miss a pon full of goals. If i do go then they’ll play sh !t e and get beat??
Pay on the gate you say!A bit like the North East, hardly any clubs up there. No wonder they get big crowds
I always find it strange that 2 people can watch the same game & yet if you talk to em it appears they’ve been to 2 completely different games.
Personally I thought the only 3 players to come out of yesterday’s game with any credit were Beausejour, Di Santo & Boyce. Sorry, 4 as I can add Maloney to that list
I thought the others either had bad games (e.g. Al Habsi) or were anonymous (e.g. McCarthy & McArthur).
Whilst not everything they tried came off I thought the 4 I mentioned as having good games tried to make things happenYou are not wrong there TL. Agree with Boyce, Di Santo? worked hard but produced little, Maloney, i’ll take your phrase anonymous.. His passing is a bit like the chuckle brothers sometimes, to you to me to you to me… Not quite at where he was at the back end of last season.
Beausejour – Tried hard but he just isn’t at the races. We channelled a lot of play down that left side on Tuesday and very little came off. Boyce was in acres of space at times and can’t understand why we didn’t pass it out wide to him.Glad to see though we dinked a couple balls from midfield over the top of the defence for Kone to run onto and it worked. He’s a strong bloke and samlling? Was lucky to stay on the pitch for hauling him down
Like I say, all about opinions. I’d agree Maloney hasn’t quite hit the heights of last season but he isn’t the only one
And on Smalling’s challenge – I’ve deleted the game off my sky plus without watching it so I haven’t seen it since I was at the game (& pretty much bang on line in the east stand with where the foul took place). My initial reaction was that it was a caution.
The only way it could have been a sending off was if the challenge was dangerous (which it wasn’t) or if it denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity against a player moving towards goal – Like I say I haven’t seen it since, but whilst it was a foul I thought the ball was already running through to the keeper & so it wasn’t a goal scoring opportunity. At best it seemed 50/50 as to whether Kone would have got to the ball before the keeper which again prevents a red being shown
Likewise, i have not seen it back and being in the south stand didn’t have the best of views. To me it looked like he was through on goal and if your the last man then it can be classed as a red card offence in some instances?

Any 3 from 8 at the moment; hope it’s Villa, Toon & Reading !Yep but looking at the highlights tonight they created a few chances and were unlucky to lose…. bloody glad though :P
transfer window opens and guess what the old coot flies off to barbados for a month
so i have just been told
what a phlucker
this team needs sorting out fast ,but hey up transfer window open bob will want money phuck it im off
B)Bit harsh this one, he aint done us any harm upto now as he? Anhow, all potential signings will probably already be sorted
I’m struggling to understand how anybody can argue for todays performance. In short we were poor today. And i’m not wearing this comment of “if Kones goal had stood it might have ended differently”
Correct me if i’m wrong but that was our first attempt on goal!I expected this today and got the score bang on (not hard as it always happens) We were fortunate against Villa cos they were really poor and i said if we play like that against UTD we’ll get tonked cos we gave the ball away loads.
Bob needs to play football with a purpose cos we have plenty of needless passing going on but nawt in the final third. We need to create more chances.
Was told recently that we’ve had six penalties given against us this season (more than any other club) but i can only think of 5. Arsenal, Newcastle, Everton, Stoke & Chelsea. Have i missed one and if so which one is it.
All bar the Newcastle one have been at home which would suggest we are a dirty side! Totally the opposite i would say, if anything we are a bit too soft at times so why so many against us? If it carries on at this rate we’ll have had Ten by the end of the season…
Law of averages means we must be due to good decision soon? If not then i’ll gladly accept a dodgy one :cheer:
United away, Ali saved it
Of course, i should have guessed really!!
I’d love a dodgy call against them tomorrow not least to ruin his post birthday celebrations but to see Sir Tantrum go off on one again. Especially if it won us the game :silly:
Yep, very interesting read (cheers CL). Great to see that debt coming down.. or should i say tumbling down.
True legend is Mr Whelan and this statement demonstrates that Wigan Athletic will have a future long after he calls it a day
Indeed.
If SAF can have both the main stand named after himself and a statue erected outside OT (likewise a certain M Jackson down at the Cottage), then someone ought to see to it that DW has a statue erected in his LIFETIME down at the ground.
On the subject of finances, the cynic in me wonder’s whether he’d have preferred, in hindsight, to have held off on the debt /equity swap for a little longer.
On the basis we stick around in the MONEY league and with SKY pumping some serious cash / ridiculous money into the game, coupled with the club’s responsible financial management (operating costs), then he may have been in a better position to recoup part his investment, the club being profitable /cash positive and able to reduce its DW debt.
We ain’t ever going to be the hottest investment prospect (DW sell-out) due to geographic s, etc.
Hindsight, a wonderful thing !
D Whelan goodpost
I’d agree with the statue thing JPC. Not really a lover of senseless erections (no rude puns gents) like the Fulham one??? But Sir Dave defo deserves something sorting in his honour.
Maybe CL could approach the club to gain their thoughts?
