That old saying springs to mind, “not what you know it’s who you know”..
Said when the deal was first announced that for a club with one of the most notorious sets of supporters to have all policing costs included in that measly sum they have to pay was ridiculous. And the owners still have the brass neck to refuse to pay additional costs!!!
At least we Northerners don’t have to pay anything towards it…
It would have cost WAFC a fortune over the last few years in back room staff pay offs…
It’s fair to say it must be hard for a new manager working with non preferred sidekicks. He’s got to get his ethos across to two sets of people, and for both to sign up to, and in this day and age of time being a premium!!!
I’m sure Sharpy will be diligent with his back room staff observations over the next few months.
I would like to think Jimmy that we wouldn’t have had 5 managers had they brought in their own guys.
I’m not so sure about that NL, Coyle & Mackay were really poor / strange appointments.
Power needs to be played as an attacking midfielder, not as a sweeper. He’s wasted this season.
Let’s hope Joyce brings him back to life and we start to see his runs through the middle of the field & shots from 20yds out!!
He can still do it at this level. Our defence was terrible for the first 20mins. But the difference was finishing, and ours was good. Especially Sturridge’s goal, great header.
A better team would have put two past us in the first 20mins but as the old saying goes you can only beat what’s put in front of you.
Tougher times ahead for Southgate, would love him to do well. But think he’ll be as bad as the rest come tournament time.

Well done Northern Ireland. It’s winning that counts !
Interesting fact Lostock, but as we Wigan fans know possession stats mean little. Azerbaijan had the other 61%, but only 1 shot on target, sound familiar?
Great reception from the Northern Ireland fans for Grigg when he came on…
Just so happen to be off work that day, might nip along to join in the fuss :P
As I said same old same old, Rooney captain Henderson will play possibly Wilshire. We never learn. Scotland cannot handle pace so don’t be surprised if its similar to Slovenia and we play at snails pace and allow them to press. Most experts saying the sweaties cannot win but I for one wouldn’t be shocked if they did.As you said he’s gone for the usual suspects, Rooney to take the ball off defence and pass sideways, a lot!!! Can’t understand why people think Southgate will make a difference.
The Scots will be up for this big time and our lot prove time & time again that they are not capable. And why are people wanting more upheaval at the club. We’ve had enough of that over the last 2 or 3 years.
Maybe the club will let things settle down and then make a decision, after Warren finds his feet.Definitely Argus, and plenty of crosses too.
He’s been in great form of late though, still an excellent shot stopper.
That said, hope he has a nightmare tomorrow!
This has needlessly been blown out of all proportion by FIFA.
Their stance is, “World football’s governing body prohibits political, religious or commercial messages on shirts”The poppy is none of the above in my mind, it’s a symbol of remembrance.
Maybe our FA should offer FIFA some royalties on any poppies sold in the UK. That should swing it for us!
I’ll play devil’s advocate but start by saying that I wear them & do so as an act of remembrance for those who’ve sacrificed their lives for our future’s
That said, I can see FIFA’s logic. To us it is a mark of respect & remembrance, but it’s clear just from James McLean’s stance that some other communities & nations don’t’ see it that way & FIFA can’t be seen to condone that but then refuse other nation’s requests for symbols that mean similar to them but different to others.
However if I was at the FA or playing then I would wear the armband anyway & take any punishment as I knew beforehand that they didn’t allow it
FIFA has kind of made a rod for its own back though by either allowing or not noticing the FAI’s tribute to the Easter rising on their shirts earlier this year
It’s a fair point to make Tyldesley.
For me FIFA should understand each request on it’s own merit. Not just a blanket ban on everything, that makes their life easier if nothing else.Don’t want to get into a political debate about Ireland. But i see Mr McLean was all too happy to wear the FAI shirt, with political logo, without feeling the need to put pen to paper on why he shouldn’t..
Picked again for Northern Ireland but i guess theyll let him warm the bench again instead of using himThink O’neill can be a tad stubborn and reading his comments about Grigg i’d guess Will might only play a very small part in these two games. If any at all?

Honestly don’t know much about the bloke but i’m quite excited now he’s in place. Let’s hope he gets off to a flyer on Saturday.
Onwards & up that league table..
Probably nowt to do with Graham. Would probably got exactly the same result with Gary. Played the same game, lots of possession and only two shots on target. Swapped a striker struggling for service with another struggling for service. This style of football whoever is in charge may keep us up but for entertainment for some it is not their cup of tea. However a win is a win and Saturdays feel better with them.
Did you go Donny? Not sure how you have come to those opinions just by looking at the stats. Played well in second half fully deserved the win. Football FROM BOTH TEAMS not the best, but a resolute display from the tics was very pleasing on the eye.
Now to finish off a great weekend with a shed full of ale in Newport.
That shed full of ale might make Newport look a bit better JR
