Have some works started outside the west stand then DD? Didn’t pass that way on Saturday.
The drinking ban was very much needed when it was brought in.. But the atmosphere in grounds is very much different now to then. So maybe we should be allowed to enjoy a pint during the game, in our seat.
Couldn’t agree more. What the hell was he thinking coming so far out for that attempted clearance??!! what goes through his mind?
Tac Tics
That’s got to be two points dropped in my opinion. Even though Burton had one cleared off the line….
We were really poor for the first 15mins, all over the place. Grew into the game, gradually, and looked like scoring near the very end. GC needs to address his tactics as most of our efforts on goal came near the end of the game. We need to be creating chances from the start!
Burton didn’t offer a great deal today, but they still leave the DW with a point. Their best chances came from our incompetence.
Two really big games coming up next, the picture will look really bleak if we lose both of them..
Thought he had his best game for us today, brilliant.
Thought the reaction from the crowd around me said it all when LeFondre was announced as MOM. A lot of confused looks.I’ve never heard of this chap before but he’s banging them in so far this season. 9 in 12 games….. One to watch from now.
It’s quite a simple theory isn’t it, if we have the ball, no matter where on the pitch, it means the opposition haven’t and therefore will find it hard to score.Unfortunately our defence hasn’t been the tightest and so when the oppo ultimately do get some possession we have conceded. We need the defence to be solid.
On the other side, if we had more shots (especially on target) the passing would be deemed worthwhile, but we have lacked there also.
We are fickle (fans) and was loving the passing last season, because we were winning against teams that couldn’t cope. We are now in a league that can cope and so need to be more clever.
GC started last season pretty slow as well jayt and he got some stick early doors. He did turn it around and we played some good stuff and as you say no complaints.
As for defence, GC seems to have found a settled trio which is working.
As for shots on target, that will only improve if we get forward quicker and utilize Grigg more. As Nuneaton says, we don’t get the ball to him anything like as much as we should be.A lot of the short passes are sideways & backwards. Think what most fans would like to see is a quicker tempo, and a purpose to the passing, not passing for the sake of it.
Whether you are a current posters on Cockney Latic or a fan at the ground both seem to be saying the same.Hope Jake Buxton can continue how he finished the Wolves game with that wonderful pass.
Precision passing like that can unsettle any midfield and defence and if he can continue like that with Will on his lonesome and an attacking midfielder along side or just behind him we could stroll games. And that was some pass..
Not so sure we’d like to see long ball football every week Donny but as a tactical variation when needed would be nice. Sign of a good manager is one that can change tac tics mid game. I can recall a game against Bournemouth a couple of years ago where Howe did it three times. They beat us 1-3 I think?
We’re a bit too predictable at the moment.
All depends on how GC intends to play. Burton have done their homework on us in past games. Every time we play them they defend from the front, closing our defenders down who are trying to play from the back. We get unsettled and no rhythm is found and we end up looking really shaky at the back.
So if GC plays his normal way then i’m not expecting much. If he changes his approach then we can beat them as they do concede away from home..Burton haven’t won away yet, lost 2 away & drawn the rest. They’ve scored in every away game though. Pretty decent at set pieces too so will be a tough encounter this one.
If we get the ball up field quickly and run at their defence then we can win this one….
Joe Hart, best player by far…
you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear…..
Thought this would be a close match, but didn’t expect them to be having the better chances!
Hodgson was one if the worst England managers in my opinion. But is Rooney a midfielder? It’s ok playing anywhere on the pitch but you will invariably look poor at times? Mr Ferguson started the out of position role for Rooney but he had some good players around him which helps.
Might not be a bad thing for Rooney to leave utd for a club that will play him up front. As he has been quality at club level in the past..I blame the managers for persisting in playing Rooney. I don’t agree with fans booing a player like he was on Saturday, after all he was trying. But a manager needs to have the balls to drop a big name when he isn’t playing well, or his natural position has a better option for it. Rooney hasn’t deserved his place in that side for a while now (IMO). And Hodgson, Allardyce & Southgate played him because of who he is… And that has resulted in all this fuss.
Glad he’s dropped, if not for Rooney’s sake. -
