It’s sad to hear of any former Latics players who have passed away, but at 52 years of age, it’s a tragedy.
I remember you playing for the tics Paul amongst a whole host of other North West football clubs, a proper northerner. R.I.P marrer.

What a journey!Might just be wishful thinking on our part.

What a journey! That is a bit harsh on Roger IMHO. He comes on with 5 or so minutes to go and has to try and impose himself on the game.
I will judge him when playing from the start and when he does that, he has won his fair share of MOM’S, Maribo being the last one. :cheer:

What a journey!Suppose drawing with Burnley isn’t as bad as it feels. They were a well orgainized side that were hard to break down. That said, i can only see them going in one direction, and that is south. How bad was their crossing & shooting today.Probably just as bad as our free headers and shots at goal. :(

What a journey! We put enough balls in the box for a decent striker to have the ball up his jumper at full time.Jordi was immense today. No but I’m sorry to disagree, if you know a bit about football its not how often you get balls in it’s about timing, the timing at moment is fekin crap and that’s why we are all frustrated. :woohoo:
Get on Holt’s back if you want, but there are far more things wrong than him, but well done for spotting were we are going wrong and thanks for directing the negatives away from Gomez.

What a journey!Jr i do kind of agree but holt need to adapt to. He got a couple of passes into him which were perfect to run on to but hes making the passes look bad by his inability to move. Flat footed doesnt do it justiceYip he did look like at times like he was dragging a rickshaw with Lisa Riley in it. :woohoo:

What a journey!I know what you are all saying but to be fair, he has not been given a run of more than one or two games. When he has played from the start, it has been a change of formation from the last time he played. his confidence is rock bottom.
What I can see is a player who has played in a regular 442 formation for many years and scored plenty of goals from inside the box. I believe every premiership goal he scored was from inside the box.
There was one move on Thursday when he collected the ball just over the half way line layed it off to McClean, who went hell for leather down the left wing put in a perfect cross and Holt was at least two yards short in meeting it and to be fair, he was the only player in the box. Rosler turned round to the bench shouting see that, nobody on the end, nobody on the end!.
In summing up we all know Holt has scored goals in the prem, you don’t become a bad player overnight, but the role he is being asked to play does not suit him one bit. Its a similar situation to Bosselli, who looked like a turnip receiving balls chest/ head height, back to goal 40 yards out.
Rosler has to decide if Holt is the forward he wants to work round and if he is, I’m afraid its a case of getting balls down the channels, just like Bolton did and banging them in to the box at every opportunity. Holt I’m sure will get on the end of one or two. At the moment it is pass, pass, pass 30 yards out and then into the box where at least 6 opposition players are waiting to pounce and head or kick it clear.
Yes I agree Holt looks a chump, but some blame has to go down to the role he’s being asked to play. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I’ve heard he is going to be on the touchline wearing just a pair of sparkly shorts with gold braid, a blue bandana and calf length gold boots with blue stars on.
Apparently he is going as a WWF Rosler.

What a journey!PJ didn’t hang around to see if he could keep us up a second time and yes RM took us down. But for 3 seasons he kept us up always against the odds, why don’t some people accept this?
The vast majority do. It’s only a few bitter people on this forum who, coincidentally, all seem to play together – thank Christ I don’t know where that pub is – and don’t seem capabale of having their own thoughts. One of ’em thinks something up, the others have to agree.
Most neutral observers seem to find it surprising that Martinez stuck with us as long as he did before trying to further his career.[/quote]
You only become a bitter person when something happens to make you bitter. Check all the lightside / darkside threads and you will see that I was totally behind Bob 100%. Me you, Standish and a few others, fought long and hard to get some posters to understand Bob’s philosophy and tactical approach. He had a vision and stuck to it come what may and tbh, it was that stubborn attitude, that eventually cost us our place in the EPL.
As for this poll, you seem to belittling the posters who think he was a judas. The fact is that “at the moment” the majority of posters seem to have the view that he jumped ship when Wigan Athletic finally became a poisoned chalice and would no longer be an asset to his CV.
You claim that the vast majority of neutrals can’t understand why Bob stayed with us so long, well I’ll try and explain. He had a Chairman / friend that stuck by him when times got tough. Any other chairman would have sacked him long before the FA cup success, 9-1, 8-0, 8 straight defeats, etc. etc. He even told the world that Bob would manage a top 4 club, bumming him up to the hilt. How do you tell DW that you are leaving when he has single hand-idly helped to put you where you are?.The poll may change as more posters can be bothered to take part, but at the moment, like it or not, the votes have shown that there are quite a few supporters who didn’t like the way Martinez dumped us.
You know me Griff, I have my own opinions and have agreed with your views / posts on many occasions, you have a good knowledge of football, but don’t forget there are a lot of others on here that also know their stuff and are entitled to their opinions even if it goes against what you think.
Anyway, I’ve noticed you have not voted yet, you’ve shown enough interest in this debate so get voting and close the gap!. B)
