Just a footnote to the above. There is part of me relishing the fact that we could be in for a relegation battle rather than us meandering into mid table obscurity, where matches have no importance. It was nice last season to sit and watch the last few games knowing the results didn’t matter, but on the other it was a tad boring.

Mid table obscurity would be nice just once in a while, it years since we had it.
This promotion, relegation, play off lark isn’t good for an old fucker like me every season, mixed with Cup Finals, semi’s and quarters finals, its exhausting.
It is Wigan Athletic though at the end of the day, it’s the way we do it, and if truth were told, we wouldn’t change much, would we?

COYL
Only two things that desperately need changing. 1 the boring bilge that’s loosely described as football we play and 2 the manager who persists in playing the boring bilge that’s loosely described as football. Other than that spot on Horc.
Have you really found the last two matches boring bilge?

I can’t help thinking we was in this position last season and Cook pulled a rabbit out the hat.
We are Latics and always seem to defy the odds, its what we do. Quite a few wrote us off with 20 games to go last season and constantly posted on here that we would drop into the bottom 3 and stay there, we didn’t. More of us this season are saying we are doomed under Cook including me so let’s see if the odds can be defied again. Its obvious that the owners, Royles and Jackson are behind Cook, and a sacking is off the table, otherwise he would have gone after the Luton game. He is here for the season whether we like it or not, so let’s all hope that the rabbit is not super glued in the hat.

I was expecting a classic “after the Lord Mayor’s show” performance with Naismith and Dunkley tripping over each other. But that didn’t happen thankfully. Confidence is so fragile at the moment I’m just glad we didn’t lose in the last minute, pick up any injuries or get anyone sent off before we head into the Bermuda Triangle on Monday.

Two games unbeaten!!

That probably didn’t happen cos Dunkley didn’t play??

I’ll hold my hands up and give some praise to Kipre. He’s had 2 really good games and I honestly thought he was the worst defender we have ever had. Hope it continues and he has finally rid himself of those awful 3-4 ridiculous moments he displayed in every previous game he’s played.
Nice one Cedric!

Normal service resumed. Soon be rock bottom. Yesterday was pants. The only hope is a new manager to try re-energize and motivate us and that seems unlikely so league 1 getting nearer. The fact we can’t beat the teams around us is damning. All his over used excuses are irksome and the clubs hierarchy a disgrace refusing to address this situation. God help us at Blackburn who are heading to play offs and on a roll a club who again spent less than us but simply have a wiser, shrewder more experienced and far better man in charge.

So did table topping West Brom

We did the business good style!. Knocked it around superbly, created chances won all the battles. Was great to see Richardson and Barry talking tactics throughout and not arguing with 4th official all night. If you didn’t know which team was which you would have said we was the team at the top of the table.
WTF was Jones playing at for the free kick that led to their goal??.
I would keep things as they are for satdy but you just know Cook will ring the changes.
Well done boys and please no West Brom were shit comments.

I disagree totally that this squad is not good enough to hold their own in this league. The only thing Cook has got right in his post match grovellings is two words “fine margins”.
We have lost or drawn the majority of games, especially away from home, by the odd goal. Games in which for the most part we’ve looked the better team. Its been a mixture of poor tactics, poor substitutions and individual mistakes. 66% of the reasons we’ve grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory have been down to Cook and his management team.
I’ve been behind Cook all of the way up to recently, but have always been critical of the management team as a whole saying they have only played or worked previously for the likes of Accrington Stanley.
Get a management team in with a bit more experience, a bit more tactical prowess and this squad can be at a level of one challenging for a top 6 place.
I know cost will come into it, but its about speculating to accumulate at this stage. The money that playing in the championship brings opposed to that what League one has to offer are worlds apart.
We were fortunate last time that we bounced back at first attempt, next time we might not bounce back and that in my opinion could be a few nails in our coffin.
Let’s put sentiment to one side, look to see if there are any experienced managers out there that might fancy a new challenge for the right reasons, being that they are already multi millionaires and see where it takes us. It has to be now, to allow for them to weigh up the squad before the January window closes.
I won’t accept that going back to league one is acceptable or proactive in any way shape or form for this club.

Dujon Sterling looked quite poor on his debut against stoke in the cup game. Had to wait until cook and gang realised that Byrne is not a championship player before giving him a league start.
I agree with cup winners here, it’s all hear say about what’s actually happening with this guy and if he has a bad attitude, its up to our management to get him thinking positive, just like they did with a certain Mr Powell. The other option is to send the feker back to Wolves with a note from his mum explaining why he’s being returned.

Wasn’t we hearing that Windass had spat his dummy out about not playing and been posting things on social media about his fitness position? He played Saturday so I presume it was either all “hear say” or they’ve slapped his hands and got his attitude back where it should be.
Cook and team must do the same with this Bright geezer or get shut. I would think if the things that George has referred to are true,
theres enough reasons for the club to terminate his loan contract with immediate effect.
