Heard that we made a final offer of £20k per week yesterday and he’s turned it down. He will go to Stoke and his career will go down the same path as Charlie Adams.

What a journey!Reports today (from Alan Nixon) suggest we’re looking to bid up to £1M to sign him permanently – do you think this is a good deal or not? I would reckon only half that figure with add-ons if we/he progresses, but I was never 100% confident with him in goal this year.I know there were a couple of mistakes/errors from Jones when he was in, but overall, I felt our defence was far more solid with Jones behind them – he seemed to be a better communicator and wasn’t glued to his goal line like I felt Walton often was!
Walton is probably the better shot-stopper though!
Totally agree with all of the above. He needs to work on managing his 6 yard box and be a lot more commanding from crosses.

What a journey! If you are talking about the leagues in England then I think they are the best.
There are loads of “foreign” players in the top Spanish, German, Italian, French leagues etc.
How many non-english players have played for us, struggled but then gone on to play for decent European League and done well. Andy Delort and Andreas Granquist spring to mind.
I’ve always said it and so have many others, the Premier League is the toughest league in the world and like an earlier poster said, would love to see how Messi would fair given a couple of seasons to adapt. From Matlock to ManU

What a journey! Now then lads we should calm down a bit on the name calling it’s just daft.
Look at things differently and if we had been offered 52 points and that league position last July after the massive state of limbo we were in from the takeover which disrupted everything we would probably have all taken that.
Also if we had had a really poor start and this continued untill Christmas then the majority of the 52 points came after the deadline day everyone would have been cock a hoop (as most fans are anyway). Even if the points had come gradually rather than in two peaks and a huge trough the achievement would have been seen differently. At the end of the day we are Latics and we don’t do the norm and that as been pointed out by other posters and that’s what’s great about Little Wigan.
I am sure this season’s trough and awful away form will be carefully analysed in the summer and things will be different next season but in the meantime some of you just need to chill out a tad, even if it’s just by eating a bit of humble pie. I have and it doesn’t taste that bad. As Paul Cook as often said, “We pick ourselves up and go again”. And we will, we have too many knockers outside of the club to be knocking ourselves. That last sentence sums this charade up nicely.

What a journey!”The number of times we’ve looked comfortable in games and been done by an individual error or bad deflection “….blah ,blah…..christ. Number of games ????.What about piss poor team selection/substitutions..?..That’s it !! We were never shit we were just unlucky
!! .3 great results and wow it’s like all the horse crap before it never existed !Have you got over the fact we’ve stayed up sunshine? Bet you were absolutely gutted that you’ve not been able to have your 5pm moan, moan fuckin moan these past few weeks.
I’ve come me across some arseholes in my time but your top of the league in that department. I wouldn’t bother posting anymore on here as nobody values your opinion.
I suppose you already know that from the recent posts.
This is my last post in your direction, I would appreciate it if you didn’t post in mine. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! This season was all about survival, even the more positive fans amongst us realised that.
I always had confidence in this squad particularly when the injury front eased up and Danny Fox strengthened what was a leaky defence.
Cook speaks regularly about “fine margins” and there is no truer saying. The number of times we’ve looked comfortable in games and been done by an individual error or a bad deflection. This squad IMO was good enough to finish a comfortable mid table, the reasons we didn’t I’ve identified earlier.
If we can keep hold of our key players and add a mixture of young blood and experience players in the mould of Danny Fox, Leon Clarke we can become a top half team and maybe push for the playoffs in the next 2-3 years.
It will be hard finding another Reece James, but there will be other loan signings to come, especially the way our coaching staff have brought Robinson and James on.From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I was about to say the same thing, imagine if we needed Rotherham to lose their last game and their opponents fielded a weakened team.
Its just not on, there will be opportunities during preseason to see how the young uns are progressing.
Let’s go out in a blaze of glory with 2 more wins and a decent points tally.
Brum and the Oatcakes are still catchable. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! Its got to he said, some supporters on here should bow their heads in shame when they look back at their posts this season.
We all deserve an opinion but the pure vitriol directed at Paul Cook and the players at times has been ridiculous to say the least.
Having been struck by injuries to literally the full forward line for most of the season and to throw away point after point due to individual errors, its been a hard season for the club. Despite that they have achieved their goal and retained championship status with points to spare. We have NEVER been in the bottom 3.
So please let this be a lesson to some supporters you know who you are, by all means have a go when things are not going for us, but understand it just doesnt do any good coming on here with the hatred demonstrated by you at 5pm every time we lose.
Paul Cook and his backroom staff are rookies at this level, with the injury situation on top, he has had a baptism of fire, but to his credit he has achieved his pre-season goal, with 2 games to spare.
Let’s sit back and enjoy the last 2 games, have a relaxing break and come back fully charged to get behind our team, whoever is in charge or whoever is on the pitch.
Well done Paul Cook, well done the players and well done to all those supporters who stuck behind the lads despite that horrendous away record.Utter bollocks, I like alot on here will moaned like fook when we play like tossers and the manager hasn’t a clue and putting up with players who didn’t give a flying fcuk about us.
I will also praise them for getting 7 points out of 9 and keeping us up.
Hang our heads in shame ?? pmsl. By the sounds of it happy tamazzy clapper you need to get down the training ground about 2ish and give Cook a soapy wet one then nosh the team off cause most won’t be here next season.[/quote]WTF was all that about?

What a journey! Some of the players and the manager will have learned a lot about themselves this season. The likes of Byrne, Massey, Morsey, Dunks and Windass hopefully will progress next season. We need a couple of old heads and 4-5 young uns like the two we are looking at from Barnsley. Give a couple of our Dev squad a taste of first team action to see if they can step up.
Should make for an interesting campaign. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! We’ve jumped over QPR as well, looking really comfortable snuggled in 18th place. Beltin!

What a journey!Thought you would know who you are, I mentioned no names but you have come on defending yourself.
I could have chosen to be more damning, but didn’t feel the need. No soap box pal just saying it as it is.
You have been a total disgrace to your club, there are opinions and shear contempt, you and a few others may I add, have over stepped the mark and if it had gone tits up you would have been on here again at 5pm giving it Loads.
Well it didn’t work out that way and you must be feeling pretty silly now.
A couple of positive posts when you couldn’t do anything but, doesn’t change what you have posted this season.
Try and grow up for next season and see the bigger picture.
