We have been linked with the striker Doyle from North End who by all accounts is utter dog shite!

Grigg didn’t set the championship alight but looked superb in league one. Perhaps Doyle might be the same. Don’t write him off for what he’s done this season.

What a journey!Barrow been brilliant for Latics over many decades. Knew him personally worked with his dad for years. I wish him all the best for the future, whatever he does.
Now let’s start with a blank page. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! To all those who thought the club would take the cheap option and give GB the job permenantly,,,YOU WERE WRONG!

What a journey! If Paul does get the job I hope he doesn’t make a meal of it.

What a journey! My grand-kid pestered me to take him to watch the tics at Newcastle last season so I did. It was £20 for his coach and £14 I think, for his ticket. Not only did we sit behind the goals we needed a pair of binoculars to see the players. That’s half the price of a 2017-2018 season ticket I forked out, for just one game. :woohoo:
That £69 doesn’t sound that bad all of a sudden for 23 games.
I do sympathies with those fans having to pay out for young kids, but if they want to go, then its the price of a decent pair of top brand trainers against a cheapo nasty pair from Wynsors. My missus worked at a school and once or twice a year they were given about 20 tickets for a game. If 2-3 kids went they’d be lucky, so I don’t think giving away free season tickets to the younger kids will see a massive increase in take up.
Nor do I think charging £3 per game will have a big impact on the number of season tickets bought by the parents, whose kids who are keen enough and can be arsed,to watch 23 games per season against the likes of Northampton and Shrewsbury.Having said that, I really hope Sharpie and JJ have a rethink on this, or at least give some incentive like they did last time we were in league one.
What about buy one kids season ticket this season, get two seasons free? :cheer:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Vat your moaning about paying £269 but if you wait until the week before the season starts you will pay £299 can’t believe how sum people think £269 – £12 a game £299-just short of £13 a game still not bad but you will still have a moan at that and reason it’s had to go up we now have no parachute payment to keep it down I bet you didn’t moan last season saying it was too cheap
Read my post again, as I’ve said, if I was just buying my own… £300 wouldn’t be bad at all. But it’s going to cost me £800 for 2 adults and 2 kids….that’s where the problem lies.
And why oh why should I be pressured to meet a deadline? Cheeky bastards this club.
Yeah, definitely wait until manager is revealed and let’s see what players we have come August.
Anybody rushing down to buy at this moment has to be a bit of a pleb or in the “I’d go at any price, me!” Thick Wiganer class. To some, the club can do no wrong. Ha! You’ll think so, come August when crowds are about 8000. Look how far we’ve come……rolls eyes.
You are there again Dave, I’ll be getting mine next week and please don’t call me a pleb, I am a loyal fan who supports the club not the manager or individual players. Is it so hard to understand?
If you are buying a season ticket and don’t take advantage of the early discount, just cos they’e set a date, then its you who is the fekin numpty.
I don’t give a shiny shyte who buys a season ticket as long as I’ve got mine, neither should you.
By the way I’ve seen you leaving the ground on several occasions last season and its just been you and another geezer. B)From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!More to the point, why did the millions of stewards allow them to get on?

Adult tickets are sort of OK (we need to balance the books and last year was a bargain), but my 6-year-old grandson who loves “his seat” in the East Stand, where he has sat for the past 3 years loyally, is now expected to be charged £69.
If we were in the South Stand it would be free, or at most £29. But we don’t want to go in the South Stand. Why are the club trying to pen all families in there. There are loads of kiddies in the West and East Stands.
All prices should be comparable. OK if you make it a bit cheaper in teh South – I’ll even accept free with an adult in teh South, but £29 elsewhere. But £69 for a 6-year-old? People just aren’t going to take the kids, and that’s the future support of the club gone.
I really think they should think again, before they penalise people who just want to take along youngsters. If there is a party of adults, but one wants to regularly bring their child, then it is not reasonable to ask everyne in the group to move to the South Stand.
Totally agree with you there, George.
Only Latics could hike prices up after relegation. We will DEFINITELY be waiting to see who comes as manager, etc. Now. It’s going to cost us over £800 for 2 adults and 2 young kids. It’s actually a disgrace.
And no, definitely do not go in the south stand. We did that this season and it was abysmal. Terrible view (not that there was much to see) and no atmosphere or feeling of fan camerardrie.
But the fact it’s going to cost us over 800 to sit on the side, as opposed to around 500 from last season……
I am seriously thinking of not bothering.
Well done once again, Latics. You’ve made a big big mistake, once again.
FFS Dave, here you go again with the I’m not bothering again routine, no doubt you’ll be back on at some point saying it was just a wind up.
Look, the prices next season are actually not that bad, £11.69 for a seat at the half way line will do me.
I sympathies to an extent for the cost of a 6 year old, however at £3 a fortnight its cheaper than going to one of those run and jump places that my two grand kids love to drag me to every other week.
I’ve been saying it for years, there is no reason to charge kids anything to get in if potentially they drag an adult with them.
I personally think next season’s ticket sales will drop to the 5,000 mark irrespective of the prices. This board is living proof, that there are many fans out there who only want to support a winning team playing ole football in the top two tiers of the football league.
Well John, we’ve already said we will wait and see who is manager and what players leave, and if we aren’t happy, we will pick.and choose games. I feel a lot of people will take this stance next season.
If we appoint someone such as Paul Cook, we will happily renew and get behind them.All.im saying is I am surprised.at the clubs stance and the ticket prices. The Leeds game had a lot of empty seats, so.i was told. I didn’t go.
But surely as a fan, we support the club not the manager or players, they come and go us supporters will be here till we cock our legs up won’t we??
Who is to say Paul Cook will turn us around if he comes, he may do then again he may not.
I’ll say this, if 5 months ago, we had the choice of taking Warren Joyce as manager or Paul Cook it would have been the United youngster’s manager every time. Don’t be fooled into thinking this manager or that manager will be our saviour, there are too many variables to predict that. Who thought Rooky Caldwell would win us the league title in his first full season as a manager.
Well put it this way, there are a lot of names being linked with the job who I will NOT be willing to spend over £800 on season tickets to watch.
You are right, of course. There’s never any guarantee with any manager. I know that. But I don’t quite get the lauding of Caldwell. I think he got very lucky, and people forget we were shite up until Christmas. We won a very poor league one. This time will be harder, a lot of clubs have strengthened, they’ve established teams. It will be a damn sight harder.I’m just being honest. I think they needed to be cleverer with this season ticket. There should be a ‘family ticket’ available at a cheaper cost in ANY of the home stands. I’m not sure I will be forking out over £800 for season tickets, I think it’s a bit steep. The problem is, we sat in south stand last season and had the free kids tickets. But the view isn’t great and my dad’s eyesight is getting worse, so to look down the pitch, it’s not so good. So we want to go in the East. The problem is, that’s going to put the cost of a season ticket up from around £500, to over £800, and I just think it’s a bit too much of a steep increase.
I’m not sure who has put the ticket prices together but they’ve made a mistake. Believe me, John, I don’t want to stop going. But….
Being near bottom at Christmas in my opinion, makes winning the title that season an even better achievement for GC. The reason we was near the bottom, was down to the fact IMO, that there had been a record number of ins and outs and it took a while for him to pick his best team and get them to gel.
Yes I suggest GC needs lauding up for winning the title in his first full season as a manager, your counter claim lost credibility when you suggested he’d been lucky, in what way had he been lucky to win the title?.From Matlock to ManU

What a journey!Warnock has gone on record saying that he would have loved to have helped put right the disappointment of this season. So it’s probably down to his wages rather than him being unhappy at how the club is being run. In other words it’s not been he’s decision.

What a journey! Not an appropriate question in view of the reason why he’s playing on Friday. It’s great that Bobby and all the ex players are giving up their time for such a worthwhile cause. Let’s leave it at that shall we.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! He has not been a regular for FGR let alone a league 1 team. Well done to him for scoring 2 goals at wemberley , but lets put that into context and not get too carried away.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Bloody rubbish Caldwell. Took over a squad full of overpaid shite, cut budget by 50%, team took time to gel given players brought in but played some really good football towards end of season and smashed the league. Awful!
Tell that to Chesterfield fans. Don’t be blinkered….we were crap until Christmas and that was in a very poor quality league one. If we get him back, I think it’s an absolute joke. You don’t fire a manager in October….then get him back the following summer. Whats the point in that?
No chance.
Can you not see the subtle differences in those two scenarios??, Latics were a club that still had quite a bit of financial clout and some decent players who had played at a higher level when they plummeted into league one. Caldwell had the luxury of building a decent squad to get out of that division and fair play to him he did, you can’t fault him for what he did, so why diss him?.
That’s a bit different to the Chesterfield squad he inherited, if we were honest even the most genned up football fans on here wouldn’t be able to name one of their players without Googling. You can’t polish a turd no matter how good a manager you are, another example being Alan Stubbs who was given the poison chalice at Rotherham. Its far from guaranteed yet, but dare I say it, potentially Big Sam could fall into that category if results go against Palace in the last 2 games, now he was deemed good enough to be England’s manager.
Relegated two clubs? Not sure you can fully put the blame on GC for our relegation even though the situations with Morsy and Colclough was a bit of a mystery.
Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t be doing hand stands if Caldwell was re-appointed but there is no reason whatsoever to show so much vitriol to the man.
