I’ll say it again…To be fair he’s had quite a few injuries to prevent him from having a settled right back.
Has the young right back Burke played well? he’s not done too bad TBF; his he the answer to the right back problem? not too sure having seen him play all his first team games live. A very steady season, but is easily dragged out of position.
Perkins came on Friday at right back in order to get the ball from the keeper and get it forward quicker. You need to look at the bigger picture boys instead of looking for negatives all the time.
Thought that ploy worked well for the last 10 – 15 mins, but hey, what do I know I’m the one who thinks we have had serious injuries at right back, more than we could wish for. :PFrom Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Last season i for one actually thought we had a manager that knew his onions, he learned from his early season mistakes and got us on a good unbeaten run, now that was hard enough with a virtually brand new squad. What does Caldwell do? Rips the squad apart that he built! Constant tinkering with the right back position and playing players out of position doesn’t help, GC said “we would sign three or four new players to add to the squad” then he more or less rips it apart thats not something we expected, it also gripes me when players out on loan are playing out of their skin and like yesterday Colclough bagging a hat trick.
So picking up points in the next three games is paramount then move on from there, i think with all the new signings Caldwell has confused himself.
I for one don’t want another season in League 1 with or without Caldwell and i reckon i speak for all posters on here on that one.
End it or mend it Sharpie!
To be fair he’s had 3-4 players injured who would have filled the right back position, its not a case of intentionally tinkering, he’s been forced into it.

What a journey!Rovers,Cardiff winning at moment. Bottom of league bekons and we can’t complain.[/quote
I’ve watched every game this season and believe me, we can complain. There is just one game that coming off I said we deserved to get nowt and that was at Sheff Wed. I think things will start to happen soon and we will be in the league position our performances deserve.

What a journey!Jussi
Burke Buxton Morgan Warnock
Jacobs Perkins Gomez Gilbey Wildschutt
GriggOr summat like that. Players in position and positive. Not sure if Morgan or Perkins are fit yet though but a straight swap with Burke and Old MacDonald would have to do.
All depends on who comes out of the hat first and if Gaz sticks with 5 at the back.Morgan is still out injured, so thats one change to your line up,

What a journey! You hit the nail on the head when you said last season. Have a look at his contribution, played in 16 games, most of them as a sub and scored one goal.
I quite liked the boy, but I don’t see him week in week out in training like GC and team do.

What a journey! We will have to score at least 7 to win.

What a journey!Far easier that I go. I have a life as me, not as Garswood Latic. I am a real person, who tried to help this forum along. As the general view seems to be that I have it wrong I’ll get on with being me, supporting my team (or in fact teams if I want to watch my little local club too), and playing with my grandkids. No problem. If you see me anytime come and have a pint (better if you buy :) ) and discuss Latics, or the price of fish. Up the tics.
Garswood, i shouldn’t have aimed that “hats off to you” comment your way, and on reflection think i owe you an apology.
I wouldn’t be comfortable with a long time Wigan supporter like yourself walking away from this site over comments made on a forum for Wigan fans. No hard feelings, i hope.[/quote]
Here here, I speak for all the tics fans who know you personally George, or know of you, when I say that you are a great ambassador for this club and its fans. There is not an ounce of nastiness in you and I fully understood why you have been so lenient with this guy, its just your nature.
Me and many others have just had enough of him, he winds people up then throws in the odd sensible, none wind up post, just to refer back to when posters fire into him.
I urge you not to leave this board, you have so much to offer and I find your sense of humour and tongue in cheek posts, very very witty.Have a break if need be then come back re-energised.
If you don’t continue as a poster or mod, I will start a campaign akin to the “Dierdre Rasheed is innocent” one and embarrass you to fek. :PFrom Matlock to ManU
What a journey! No. I’m a Wiganer who finds the constant anti-WW tirade from a handful of people very very childish. Its 2016, not 1989. The Berlin Wall has fallen, the USSR is no more, Thatcher’s dead, we’ve had two wars in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, and yet some of you still bang on about one comment by one individual as if it were yesterday and use that as a reason to continue living your life with a monstrous chip on your shoulders. Do you have bitterness to Mr Whelan for stating that “‘Wigan is the most famous rugby town in the world”?http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/whelans-10m-plan-for-wigan-6305332.html
Of course not.
For the record, I have absolutely nothing against WAFC and have been to many games when I’ve been back visiting family & friends, and was at Peterborough last season. I was a proud Wiganer with my son at Wembley in May 2013, and will continue to be a proud Wiganer.
Well stop taking the piss out of our football club you wanker. I hate ANYTHING to do with wigan Rugby, due to the chubster fans who gave me and others tics stick week in week out, mainly about crowds. I had 20 odd years of stick, so don’t come on here with your snide remarks saying we have a chip on our shoulders due to the rant of that dick Lindsay its much much more than that. Bullitt has been naive in his posts, but in my opinion, so have our mods. I would have banned you long ago.
Do you post on the Sunderland fans forum? I really hope that nobody replies to any of your posts from now on and you leave us to discuss all things Latics. :angry:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Since when has 442 been about long ball??!! Long ball is more a managerial tac tic..If the game is played with a good tempo and players get forward into the box at every available opportunity then formation shouldn’t matter too much.
And there’s something to be said for the keeper sending the ball long at times. Especially when you give soft goals away for needless passing around the back.
If you look back to the traditional twin strikers, there was always a big un to pump the ball to and a little un to feed off him. So yes 4-4-2 was traditionally a formation for getting the ball forward quickly and regularly to the big No 9.
Despite being a young man, IMHO DS really has a good knowledge of the game. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I think young David is getting a little mixed up if he thinks the dreaded 4-4-2 is just about humph football. Actually what is he talking about at all.
Latics played some of their best ever and most entertaining football before the switch to Bobby’s Bore Ball. I can’t remember a line up with Ellington Roberts McCulloch Liddell Bullard and others partaking in big boot football.
It wasn’t bad with the one up top last season at times either especially when we upped the tempo. So for all those seasons watching that team play, you never saw that long hoof by our goalie to a Lee McCulloch who was hugging the touchline knowing if he won the header there was nobody forward of him to head it to. Did you never get frustrated with the many times during the game, the punt went too long and straight into touch. Don’t get fooled by by your memories thinking it was better in those days cos it wasn’t. I agree with you to a certain extent about Bobby’s slow tippy tappy football, but GC knows how to mix it up and changes things when they need changing. I have watched the odd ammy game and thought, they are not a patch on Aspull when I played for um.I take it you are the wrong side of 50? :P

What a journey!I’ve still got at least 2 golden balls in my garage from the old springy days. A few months ago I was trying to read the signatures on one and could only make out John Pender. :(
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I know where I’ll be to, I’ve done the poxy grounds, with no facilities, no crowds, poor parking, terrace altercations etc etc. watching my own team for nearly two decades. I’ll be buggered if I go back to that watching a club I don’t support.
Sorta get where you are coming from, but the Fulham game is far more of a priority, even if a none league team from Ashton was playing Barcelona. ;)
