Never once looked fit or interested while he’s been here.
That’s a bit unfair egg, did you see him put his body on the line diving head long for the first goal at Bury? That forced own goal got us back in the game and allowed us to eventually secure a good away point.
What I’ve seen when he plays, is someone who has been injured for a long period and is desperately trying to impress in the short cameos he has been given. He is “over trying” in my opinion. However, I can see how fans feel that he he doesn’t give a shyte, the way he turns up on match days with his tracky on laughing and joking with the players, I think its just he’s character.
I suppose I’m on the fence with the whole Holt situation, would not complain if he stays and wouldn’t be too upset if he left.
Dear me JR, u have just picked out Holts one and only decent effort for WAFC and still sit on the fence about him???
A Norwich fan laughed at me when we bought him, saying he was sh ! te and were welcome to him… A bad player bought by a bad manager!
When are you going to realise that players and managers are often seen has crap by fans, AFTER they have left your club. I’ve done it myself, is it not just a bit of that going on with the Norwich fans?
He had some fantastic times at Norwich, scoring 68 goals in 154 games. That doesn’t warrant being called shyte, especially when a lot of those goals were score in the prem.
Grant Holt has played just 17 times for Wigan scoring 3 goals, how can you possibly come to a conclusion that he is a shyte player. He has been shyte at keeping injury free whilst he has been with us, that conclusion can definitely be made.
So you can’t allow people to come to that conclusion after 17 appearances by Holt but you are allowed to about every other player that’s left us Tavernier, Waghorn, Delort etc. Players who were actually trying? Wow!!!
Holt was a lump when we got him and hasn’t give a shite for us.Confused.com
Yer there again jumping in big gob!
Tavernier and Waghorn were not considered to be good enough to play week in week out, despite being available for selection.
Holt has been injured for most of his time with us. Can you see the suckle difference brorth brain. From Matlock to ManU

What a journey! It’s not the end of the world boys, if we beat Rochdale next week all will be forgiven. To many of our fans are up and down match after match. Let’s all give Bury a bit of credit, they have knocked us out of two cups and deprived us of two league points. No giant killing today, we are a first division club, just like Bury. School boy errors have cost us the game, I couldn’t watch anymore when the fourth went in but will be there Tuesday and Saturday. Its a roller coaster season and one that I’m enjoying, I’ll dust myself down and get ready for the JP trophy game. Are Bury still in this? We have no fekin chance if they are.!

What a journey!Yes junior lost it but perkins ran along with him keeping the lad company instead of taking one for the team but like I have said on numerous occasions that is all perkins does Wigan fans love a player who runs around pointing 80% of the time.Totally disagree about Perkins, mine and many others player of the season to date. The fact that he has just been given an extended contract at the age of 33, tells me that the club doesn’t see him as just an headless chicken.
The fact that he was bustin a gut to try and cover someone else’s school boy error, endorses my opinion.
The reason he was slightly behind their player was the fact that he had just made an angle for Junior to make a 10 yard forward pass. When Junior ballsed up, Perkins was never going to get back in time. I agree pace is not his forte, but he’s been superb for us this season.

What a journey!I’m not one normally to leave early, but in this instance I had to follow the Wilder beasts when the fourth went in.
This defeat wasn’t about swapping the team about, it was about individual, farcical mistakes.
That attempted save by O’Donnell has just about come in time to go into the Christmas compilation of mammoth sporting gaffs. The second was an early Christmas present, with hugs and kisses from Fransisco Junior…. and that was just about game over.
Those players who got drafted in today didn’t send any messages to GC apart from, “we don’t merit a place in the starting 11, Mr Caldwell” :(

What a journey! My son, who is also a fine chap may I say, was a bit annoyed at me for criticising Wildschut on Saturday.
He has certainly been stunning in a few games, but I am not quite sure he is the Messiah. Against Bradford he was pretty well marked out (although that did give Perkins, Jacobs and Power space to move) and although fast against Swindon I was disappointed in the finish a tad at times.
Is he a good player? Yes of course
Should we try to get a permanent deal? Yes – and we have a good chance with him being here
Is he the solution to every problem in the World? No
Should we (as I have seen said on various social networking sites) “break the bank” to get him? My own view is no. One player is not the answer -we are doing so well because we have a team all pulling together. I would like to see him perform time and time and time again. And I do realise that this is two threads in a row that I’ve (sort of) agreed with Tez – I promise it won’t happen again.
You must admit though George, he looks very much like Macmanaman with a brain. Even when mediocre, his markers have looked rather worried when he gets the ball and wishes at that point, that he was a team mate.
If he does nowt but distracts two defenders, in order to keep allowing Jacobs and co a free run to the box, that will be job done.
Get him signed I say!!:cheer:
Isn’t it funny how a grown man would react to a similar viewpoint in 2 completely different ways?
Isn’t it also funny that someone has to make two consecutive posts to try and get a point over, you must be all of a dither.
Doesn’t matter how many Palace fans watched the game, they have convinced you that Swindon looked a better team when in possession, yet they only had one shot on target, that’s if you call hitting the post on target, the stats say not. I will side with the all the latics fans I’ve spoke to after the game on this, rather than listen to some Palace fans on the wind up.
Does better in possession, not mean creating chances or doing something positive whilst on the ball?
Apart from a 10 minute spell, Wigan looked head and shoulders above a piss poor team looking very low in confidence. You can also tell the palace fans that’s probably our worst performance in 6-7 games.Swindon better in possession FFS….

Sorry for replying to 2 seperate posts back to back as the way I read them on my phone!!! What a fckwit!
But well done on ignoring my points and choosing to go down the avenue you have. Swindon played nice football with the possession they had I didn’t say they should have won or had more chances though they did hit the post and looked on top at that point. They certainly didn’t look a bottom 2 side with a chairman as manager.
I’ve come to the conclusion you’re clueless about football and blinkered by anything Latics.
I’m clueless about football egh? lets run a poll and ask all the posters who is the clueless one.
You change direction more than the wind and have to resort to name calling like a little kid when people disagree with you or challenge your often pathetic posts. So thinking that latics looked far the better team in possession than Swindon makes me clueless. Look at the match stats again and try to convince me that they where the “nicer footballing team”.
Perhaps the palace fans thought that the Swindon players had nicer legs, nicer haircuts or nicer kit.
The palace fans hung out a kebab and you bit into it, no harm in that, but mentioning it on here??? you left yourself wide open for skitting and skitting you got, end of!From Matlock to ManU

What a journey!(and yes I do sometimes) ………. we could be playing Chelsea next season!!Are you willing to place a load of dosh on that happening?
If you are, let me offer you a price before parting with your stake with the bookies.

What a journey!Yes, I went to too many crap games last season and now I just think apart from Blackpool away last season is best forgotten. :silly:
Whoaaaaaa … I got a response!! Poor old Emlyn!
Isn’t it Emyr Huws?
Emlyn Hughes was “Crazy Horse” :)
I think he knew what he was typing, just trying the play on words milarky….very badly, sheesh I nearly typed baldley.

What a journey!Brucies team scored thanks to Diame being set up by Maloney.
Emlyn Hughes nearly scored
Everton, under RM’s guidance won 6 – 2 with 3 from Kone, and an assist by Mccarthy. Gomez didn’t make the bench.WAFC had a stunning win hanging on to the end, punishing windon (or Slossdon) who managed to keep the ball out of active play for 73 of the 90 minutes, thanks to their goalie and other time wasting tactics. What a stunning end to a game! It is bizarre isn’t it how the faces of doom and gloom can transform into big smiles simply by putting the ball in the net, and making the third worst game ever (1st – Swansea at home; 2nd – Blackpool at home) into among the best.
MOM Dorothy Loves Perkins
BTW NO foul on the keeper. Fact. TMO says so.
Would love to have seen that, he probably missed due to the fact he was as stiff as a piece of corrugated cardboard.
PS did you not go to any games last season, with that remark made about the 3rd worst game? :woohoo:

What a journey!Woooooaaahhhh!! Hold on there horsey. You having a bad morning Standish?I didn’t say everyone had the viewpoint I describe, but it’s known Latics fans in general like a Perkins over a Gomez, if anything you agree with me that there’s room for grit players and flair. Some just seem to go overboard (imo) on how great a player Perkins is.
The pass and move of Swindon was superb I thought, when they did it. They won’t be bottom 2 for long.
The Wildschut one is all my own prediction, it’ll be either right or wrong but he strikes me that he’ll be in and out rather than all the time.
As for the last post you made, I’d say your stepping over the mark a bit.
It’s easy to make statements like that AFTER the game. If I’m wrong fair enough, but did you think that or post that after his first couple of games for us and if not, why now? Are you simply reacting to two mediocre performances?
As for your two palace mates, they sure know how to pull your pisser!

What a journey! He distinctly said ” every time he got on the ball” not sure why you have assumed he meant that it was couple of specific incidents. Everyone to their opinion, it just shows how we all see things differently. The sooner we get Pearcey back the better, him and Captain Morgan are a formidable pairing in my opinion.

What a journey! Was it the great Bill Shankley who said it only takes a minute to score a goal. The best thing about scoring late is that its hard for the opposition to hit back.
Never complain about scoring late, we’ve been done so many times in the last five minutes, including our first game in the Premier league. As Caldwell points out, its a sign of doggedness, the will to win and good fitness levels, nothing to be negative about at all. :cheer:
