Whilst we can’t really celebrate tonight, we can allow ourselves a little smile :)

Survival is a mountain to climb; today we reached base camp whereas we could have crashed to the ground.

So so vital that we kick on and win next weekend. Any team can win a game (Rotherham today…) the key is to win 2 or 3+ on the bounce.

Good stuff today. Read somehere that’s the 100th team we’ve beaten in the FL..and ticked the box of having beaten every team we’ve ever played in the FL since 1978. Bet there’s a few who haven’t done that ;)

Assuming the game does go ahead, without using too many of the old cliches, this really is the relegation 6 pointer.

Given Burton are in the last safety place and 6 points ahead of us, we simply cannot afford to lose and let the gap from safety grow to at least 7 points aka 3 games

For me this is the pivotal game in our season. Win tomorrow we really could be on our way to safety, lose and sorry I just don’t see us surviving. Sure we can win the odd game here and there but so can all the others around us; just can’t see us putting a good enough run together to close a 7+ point gap. A draw we just about cling on…

Really got to go for the win tomorrow, no 5-5-0’s etc

Did we ever score at Manure in the league?

All ST holders should get tickets B)

Second Season in PL. Boxing Day Baines Penalty and we stayed up by 1 goal after we beat Sheff Utd on last day of the season !!![/quote]

    Ah yes remember now…

We lost 15 times out of 16 to them in the league…enjoyed the 16th though haha…now someone did mention about getting Shaun Maloney in on loan

Utd play Hull on the Thursday before in League Cup, so our game will be on the Sunday which will mean the Norwich (h) game will move to Wednesday.

That’s not good as we’re supposed to be playing Sheff W on TV on the Friday night

Best performance for quite a while. That said, Forest were awful.

Let’s hope we can continue as today…agree Morsy made the difference with Gomez when he came on….and the Fire has been rekindled :woohoo:

Who do we want in the draw tomorrow? A lower league side and see how far we can get or ManUre etc next round? As usual, we’ll probably get another team from our division….I’m betting Derby away

    It’s a very fair point.

When the ground was being planned Egg chasing wasn’t on the agenda (apart from Orrell). From memory crowds were around 6k when the ground first opened.

That prat Mowbray who was commentating last night always had it in for us forever going on about rows of empty seats. Had it been built as 15k and full every week he would have said we lacked ambition.

I think DW was planning for the future when he went for 25k. During the first prem season I remember there was talk of filling in the corners to get to 30k.

That seems a very long time ago now!

Let’s hope tomorrow is the turning point; a good win could be the springboard to better league form.

On the other hand, a defeat and well….

Perhaps you are looking into the tunnel vision of our owners!! ( Cue The Twilight Zone theme tune! )

    When you’re in a hole, stop digging…. :S

We’ve just lost to what on paper are by far the worst team in the division.

    So that makes us…. :S

We’re in a very long tunnel sadly.

agreed, the last man in shorts nearly wrecked the club.

Apart from looking ridiculous, it shows up the mindset of an ex player who would rather still be one of the lads.

Being a successful manager requires a different mindset…plenty of average or very limited players became top managers (SAF being the prime example); not many top players have become top managers.

I know where you’re coming from.

Yootha does come across as still being a reserve coach away from the spotlight, rather than the manager in the front line.

A manager needs to be at times detached from the players; they should look up to their manager not see him as one of the lads. I can’t imagine Mourinho putting out the cones before the game!

Agree a manager should wear a suit. Wearing shorts looks ridiculous especially in winter. Surprised Dave Snr hasn’t had a word with him :S

Tomorrow won’t do Yootha any real favours as we should win…if we were not to win it would be disaster for him. How we do against Derby & Huddersfield will be much more relevant.

Cheers Rich…same to you and all your Clan and all of our fellow contributors.

Remember, we must always stick together against the rest of the footballing world. They laughed at us, they ridiculed us, they said we shouldn’t be in the Premier League…or the Football League for that matter.

Fook the lot of em…we are Wigan…our name is on the FA Cup for all time.

    Let’s enjoy an old classic….

Wet myself watching this tonight…too much PC sh!te nowadays. At least Yootha wore a blue dress lol
