I thought owd Bent Nose had money to burn up there :?
perhaps, like me, he doesnt think he is worth that amount
I thought it was our worst kept secret. Is figgy going to sunderland or not? Up untill now i thought it was almost a done deal
does anybody know anything for sure?
if anybody knows anything more than rumor can you tell me please
TA
bruce is not willing to pay 5mil+ for him and will look for a cheaper version first
let me add my take on this matter
roberto : mr weeeeelan can i have 4 million pounds for this aussie striker from celtic
big dave : im not giving tha fec all young bob,i gave thee 3 mill for that tosser scotland in the summer and look what a bargain hes turned out to be.
roberto: ah but this one scores goals mr.vheeeelan.
big dave : very well lad see if they will let you have him on loan and if hes any good you can sign him.
a bit over the top perhaps but a little closer to the bone than being skint methinks.
this tosser mick dennis is a norwich city fan,and like leeds fans or forest fans think it is their god given right to be in the premiership above small teams like us,
his beloved norwich has 3 more teams competing for crowds in east anglia
ipswich 44 miles away, cambridge 65 miles away and peterborough 75 miles away, and the population of norwich is double that of wigan, without the massive catchment area also to draw on,yet they are only second to ipswich in size, and as far as i know they have only ever managed crowds in the mid 20 k range.
it would signal a very unambitious transfer window and give credence to the view that we are not prepared to spalsh the cash to try to guarantee survival in this division.
at last griff you are coming over to the dark side ;)
Welcome back LB only ever hear you when it’s doom and gloom :mrgreen:is there anything else since the spaniards ‘style revolution’?
10,000+ would be a fantastic attendance.8,000 – 10,000 would be reasonable
6,000 – 8,000 would be acceptable
under 6,000 would be deemed poor.
if hull had brought the 3000 i expected then to ,my 7-8 k would have been spot on.
i suppose everybody is cock a hoop saying the spanish ones style revolution is back on track after beating hull’s reserve team.
what i can’t understand LB is if anyone has a different opinion to yours they are immediatly tagged as Misty eyed .blinkered ,whelen lover. In fact i would suggest it comes down to bullying to be honest
where have i said anyone is “whelen” lover ?,
seeing as you cant understand me i am tagging, as you put it, “misty eyed ones” those who blame everbody else except the only one who is really to blame they dont seem to see how bad this poor, inept manager that we have at the helm of our sinking ship, the term misty eyed is polite for just plain blind, because for the life of me i just cannot understand how anyone can point blame anywhere other than at the feet of the spanish one.
and mark my words now he will be talked about in the same breath as the great kenny swain in years to come.
if that is bullying so be it
And ours is Absoloute rubbish.Drop this man pick another Captain and mark my words we will all see a fantastic difference.Come on. But WHY will Martinez not drop him.He is never where he should be on the field,no insperation to the team.Who gave this man the job in the first place.what an asolute croc of s h i t e
as i have said many times you misty eyed martinez lovers blame everybody,edman-kapo-de ridder-bruce,whelan , melchiot, even jones and barrow
in fact even me and the rest who know who the real culprit is.
the truth is a team is only as good as its manager
Copy and paste from Jack Walkers obituary
He made his fortune from the steel industry before taking over as Blackburn chairman in 1991 and ploughing millions of pounds into the unfashionable Lancashire club, who were then in the old Second Division.
Walker appointed former Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish as manager and Rovers forced their way into the Premiership elite.
The word benefactor could have been invented for Jack Walker… football has lost a true friend.
After signing a number of high-profile players, including Alan Shearer for a then record fee of £3.5m, Walker saw the club win the Premiership in 1995 – their first title for 81 years. Now that Mr Whelan is what you get when you INVEST in your dreams !!
thats all so and well but there is a big-big difference between walker and whelan,
walker was a life long fan with a dream, whelan on the other hand is not a fan and never has been,he used wigan athletic as a vehicle for a public relations/advertising campaign during the expansion of his JJB empire.
the cutbacks/downsizing now is because we are no longer are needed in his corporate plans for world domination of the health club/visi-vest industries.
nail on the head there blue :o
i missed the point that horc has made as well – whelan and his massive ego was also a major part of the equation

the cutbacks/downsizing now is because we are no longer are needed in his corporate plans for world domination of the health club/visi-vest industries.Personally think we should keep Bob and get shut of most of these mercenariescan you please name these ‘mercenaries’as you call them, are they the ones who performed like heroes in previous seasons,or are they the ones who whelan said were brucie’s dodgy signings, but wait -non of them are playing under the spanish one ,perhaps is the new ‘pretty football types’ that martinez has signed for his ‘total football revolution’ so it must be scharner then because his contract is up soon.
well it is said on here on a regular basis so please someone must know who they are..
perhaps it could be the problem with a spanish ‘mercenary’ manager and his second rate backroom chancersTo be honest he has never impressed me at all I dont honestly know why some on here think he is good coz he is one dimensional and oozes absolutely nothin !in the context of my post whether thomas is dog poo or dogs bollix does not matter, when any player reacts like that it shows the deep seated problems in the club manifested with a lack of respect for the manager, and that is the problem with wigan athletic.
Benitez hasn’t been THAT bad…..in fact he has
must be a trait of all spanish managers, because from what i have seen iat liverpool, spurs, and now us they seem to turn reasonable teams into crap ones.
jjb sports but was not sacked i walked out ,latics played a night match i asked manager could i finish early ,he said yes when i was walking out this taff supervisor said hey listen here boyo in future you ask me if you can finish early but i wont let you go,i replied hey listen here boyo shove the job up your a s s .never went back .
Thought there must be a grudge somewhere along the line ;)
i’ve no grudge,i’ve never worked for any part of his empire nor will ever do,so i suppose i have free hand here, whelan has lost intrest in wigan athletic and is downsizing/recouping his investment,we lost our role as the market ‘flagship’ for the jjb sports organisation when whelan sold it so we are now surplus to his future plans.
