Sorry …my original post statistically incorrect. 4th April makes it 6 months without a net bulger for our No1 hitman.
Superb result. Again another great away win unlike the smash and grabs at reading and Norwich this was a better performance. Still think the lack of goals in open play is a worry.We now have to bang in a home win and rattle the teams just above us.
No he doesn’t hold the ball up at all. He was out fought and dispossessed every time it was played to him.At set pieces he doesn’t make a nuisance of himself and for his size it’s laughable.He never threw himself at any of the crosses that went skimming across the 6 yd box. Easiest days work for most defenders who come up against him.The ball goe’s forward ,he loses it and we start again.We cannot score goals at home.He cannot score either.Do the maths.If he plays then we are a forward down. Why sign McKay then ??? Is he our super sub ? Just keep bringing him on when we have a mountain to climb.I have supported Malky but this obsession with Fortune is making it easier for Rotherham to keep their distance. For god’s sake give him a rest and try something,anything different.A panfull of goals ??? One would do to go with the last league one he scored on the 4th October.Top marksman,1 league goal this season !!!!
I hold my hands up to being one of the few who were willing to give McKay more time but my resolve was finally broken last night.Why can Billy McKay not get a start in front of the most ineffective forward weve had for many years and particularly being in the mess we are in?.Why did he not even get on the pitch when we still had 1 sub left to use ?Why sign him ? The shambles continues to worsen and still Mr Whelan remains silent.Then again with his previous that’s probably for the best.
Is getting rid the answer ?..I’m not sure .Who is out there to replace him ? We are not good enough and any manager would find it near impossible to gel so many new players under so much pressure in a short space of time. My one big issue is why we continually start with a forward who has something like 8 goals in 80 games .I cannot believe the bollocks some supporters have spewed about Billy McKay not being good enough.He came on when 2 down against Bournemouth,last 3 mins when 3 behind at forest,last 10 against Reading and again last night when already being dicked.How the hell can people judge his scoring potential on this given how crap our service has also been.He needs to start and build a partnership with A.N.Other.The injuries last night were yet another blow particularly Kvist and how can a manager legislate for this and the Clarke/Herd injurys ? After Brightons win today then League 1 it is so lets start giving players like McKay time now so we can hit the ground running next season, as he will score goals at this level and below, something Fortune has proven time and again he doesn’t.I am not defending Malky or condemning him,there are a lot more factors involved than what we mere supporters see but whoever is in charge now is the time to start preparing.
If I were a Blackpool supporter I would have been proud of the balls they showed today especially to go 3-4 down with 9 men in stoppage time and to equalize 2 mins later.Unlike our feeble ,spineless efforts of late !!.
Interesting stat. ….Half time Blackpool 1 up…….If they win we hit a season low. ….and we deserve to be there. What a mess !!!
I’d have to agree with you .I didn’t expect us to be in top 6 but not in my worst nightmare did I ever envisage the plight we are in now.I don’t really know what I would expect our chairman to say if he were to make a statement ,but it’s usually very silent at the top when the crap piles up.
I doing my best to not agree and to have a shred of optimism but struggling.Too negative ,whats the point of signing Ojo,McKay and bringing them on when it’s all over.88 mins for McKay’s appearance was totally pointless.Would you want this manager in league 1 ? Over to you Mr Whelan !
If Whelan’s ban is over he needs to get rid quick.He’s quick enough sticking his face in the media when all is rosy so now he needs to admit his errors of judgement and swallow his pride and do whats best for the club.Give a new man the rest of the season to prep for next season ,signing attacking players and not playing them has tipped me over the edge.
Whelan needs to wield the chopper………why not send McKay out on loan ,pointless getting arse splinters here.
Season begins or ends tonight for me. No point going there with a not to lose policy ,time to go with an attacking line up and go and win the 3 points. Personally I think it’s beginning to look a lost cause .All this talk about going on a run of victories ! Doe’s this team look capable of winning 2 on the trot let alone several ? But I’m still letting my heart rule and believe that one of the teams above us will hit the same vein of form we have recently had and give us a target to aim for albeit a small one.
