Totally agree about lower league players especially forwards. I’ve believed from end of last season that the strikers who seem to be successful in the championship have done their apprenticeship in the lower leagues so are battle hardened and keen to prove themselves at a tier or two highers so I wasn’t too excited when we signed Riera and Delort. Why not have ago at signing Eoin Doyle from Chesterfield or Richards from Northampton etc,etc players who would cost considerably less than our 2 foreign flops. Yes I agree there is probably a lot going on behind the scenes but with 2 games remaining of the 5 in the window we have amassed 1 point so far and our squad could get smaller before we sign anyone. Our league position makes it difficult to entice any players so we have to win Sat to improve our c.v. just knobs me off that with 22 days of the window gone we look like we are bottom of the feeder chain .
I agree but as I posted a while ago I couldn’t understand why we pissed around in Europe looking for strikers when history shows the Championship strikers who usually do best are right here serving their apprenticeships in this and the lower leagues.Think Mr Whelan was blinded by the potential profit Delort would muster if he was a success.Nahki Wells was one of my choices ,not sure if we ever went after him.
See the new manager syndrome again worked its magic at Brighton ! Not for us though. I am lost for words . Cannot see us clawing our way out unless we work some transfer window magic.Culmination of Rosler’s balls up,average players and being in a rut.Desperately need a couple of wins to build up a head of steam. The hunt for 2 strikers should be a matter of urgency not an the last day of this window….could be too little too late by then.
First thing Malky has spotted is that we probably have the worst group of strikers in this league so he’s doing his best polishing the turd.He does have a mammoth task but until he can do business then he will keep shuffling things around.I just hope we can pick up some points over the christmas slog cos I fear if we don’t then the window could come too late.
As I stated recently I can only presume Malky doesn’t see anything in our strikers so he may well be counting the days till he can do some serious business in the window.Delort scores in development games but doesn’t get a start,so where’s the incentive ?I’m stunned that usually a new manager seems to see an immediate improvement but in our case we’ve actually got worse.
I agree Holt didn’t pull up any tree 1st time around but beggars can’t be choosers and unless we do some striker business in the window then I would roll him out again .Remember Fortunes stats, for a striker they are laughable…..remember he doesn’t score and please don’t remind me how hard he works cos when he does get a chance he always fluffs it.Something like 7 in 80 games is it ? So if we continually start with him then were relegated now.To put it simply, Waghorn apart our previous leaders bought s*** forwards.
Fortune…..simply doesn’t score. Delort poor from what iv’e seen…Riera ….no thanks,so it’s Waghorn and Holt for me……
That’s my point .How crap must our strikers be that at 1-1 and 2-1 down we still don’t bring them on.I, like a lot of supporters would love to see 2 up front but I think we’ll have to wait for Malky to change the playing staff before we see that. Also like previous posters have stated some of the players have a lot to answer for with unaceptble performances.
OOOH !!! Your so hard cup winners .Just do one and let rational posters continue this debate.Quick Mr Tumble is just about to start on Sky.!!
Cup winners cock of the highest order……..what a clueless dis-engaged cloth head.
We yet again see with cup winners replys that some people who post on here are completely ignorant to the current zero tolerance policies most organisations have in place today regarding racism and the harmful publicity this can create if breached. Not for one minute do I believe Mr Whelan has a racist bone in his body nor that his intended message was anything but a genuine attempt to diffuse a press feeding frenzy. As I found with my own mother before she passed away was that as she aged she would say things that are unacceptable today but with no intent to offend anyone whatsoever .ie she was hospitalised for quite a while and had nothing but praise for as she called them “blacky doctors”.Its a different arena now and I strongly feel that all this could have been averted if Mr Whelan had allowed our chief exec to handle this situation as the media circus is far more intensive than Mr Whelan seems to be able to handle.
That goal is his party piece.Carbon copy of the Utd one .Let’s hope new manager can get him back to his best cos for me on his day there’s no better player in this league.
Mackay has alledgedly already been sounded out so i’ll go with him.
Oh right…so we play 2 up front for 1 game and it didn’t work so let’s revert back to 1 which has not worked for the whole season. How’s about a new concept. …start with 2 for maybe a few games to build a relationship and why not go the whole hog and play a consistent starting 11.As for new manager…Malkie would do.His squad swapsie had been fruitless (look at the table again please) so isn’t that poor management? The striker must be knobbed off ploughing a lone furrow.
So it all comes back to the manager. He has so far proved hugely ineffective with his team selection/motivation.Who else would you blame ?
