Oh come on ..! Our forward threat is pathetic. Please tell me again how we could have beaten Liverpool, should have nailed Chelsea and should have won with all the possession we had against Sunderland. On the few occasions we did get a ball in the box we never have anyone who MAKES the ball his.I dont think City were at their best and i’m convinced some of our relegation rivals could have sneaked something against them. .If as Robbie says Rodallega is our talisman forward then adios Prem.
Firstly id rather hear the truth Mcarthy ,Warnock style instead of the “we are suffering from negative dynamics” crap.Telling us after every defeat how we exuded “great maturity “.How after countless humpings “we had the lions share of possession but didn’t get what we deserved”, A lot of friends who support other teams have been commenting for a while about how comical his ramblings have become.I have it from good authority that Robbie spends hours on end studying the opposition and tactics and for that i have great admiration. I was informed the only criticism was that he is too easy on the players therefore the tv interviews can only compound this.I am not anti Robbie just anti seeing my club regularly humiliated.
They all do it selectively ,not before every “top Team ” game.At least his pre game interviews are acceptable his post game ones after a defeat are laughable.Lets hope we dont have to listen to many more.
Im sure some players see this as already accepting defeat .Cant see Pullis,Hughes,Lambert etc.etc constantly talking up the opposition before such a huge game. Also his comments today about Rodallega ,”Hugo has it in his dna to rise to the big occasion. It is in his nature to relish these games against top sides, and has done it again and again.” In our predicament arent they all big games ? Wouldnt mind him turning in a shift in some of the “less important games “!!! And isnt Mr Whelan’s silence deafening considering his volume of comments concerning everyone elses business .Still i think we might grab a result tonight and hopefully it will act as a catalyst for the rest of the season.
Not got money to spend (like 2 thirds of prem clubs) but what he had spent he has wasted.I include wage deals in this statement and not just transfer fees.Even though I believe Robbie has had more time than most managers would have been allotted I do still think we need to start the resurrection tomorrow ,and for some insane reason I think we will …
A lesson in passing opposition off the park and winning…!..and against one of the prems most articulate teams. As far as I’m concerned It’s 3 pts we need to get tomorrow as those around us seem to pull out results against the top 6 sides whilst we give in too easily..
I always rated him …seems Robbie only interested in striking jaffa’s.!!
I’m more worried about qpr as well..cos i cant see us winning there either .
goodpost Couldnt agree more .I would like to continue being Wigan Athletic , but in the Prem please!
Good debate .I think we do outplay teams who let us pass the air out the ball then comfortably break us down in last 3rd.As a forward unit we dont make teams work enough in and around final 35 yards and our attacks constantly fizzle out.How many times do we see Moses run diagonally across the pitch beating 3 or more men only for him to be pushed until he is dispossessed .Never enough options going forward and as has been stated regularly in the football media our tempo is too pedestrian.4 months to go so up the tempo, get bodies in the box and for christ’s sake no more sunderland’s!!!
Ok seriously……1-0 :woohoo:
Wigan %60 possession City 4
Good read ,nothing wrong with some passion and home truths.!
Maradona for me…..Inspired a sleeping napoli and led them to 2 Italian league titles,Italian cup and Eufa cup. Then in 86 led an average Argentina squad to world cup success. At the moment he just edges it for me as Messi is playing in a team loaded with talent and possibly the best club side ive seen.Pele as expected has to be up there, but he played nearly all his career in Brazil and his national team was crammed with football folklore names..
goodpost I couldnt agree more,Sammon puts a shift in but i.m.o he falls short of Prem standard. We will only create a small no of real goalscoring opportunities and we need an AJ style finisher to convert 1.I appreciate how difficult they are to come by but his attempts so far dont inspire confidence that he will ever address this.
