Interesting that he claims to have been there against Ipswich when Wigan gained promotion to the Premier League. One wonders why he was watching Sunderland at Portman Road that day when his “beloved” Wigan were playing Reading.

I watched the first half of the thugby yesterday

and I bet you tuned in hoping to see Wigan turned over so you could come back on here gloating, and turned off at half time once you realised it wasnt going to happen.

I bet it hurts to see them doing so well, with a fair few lads who grew up supporting the club, in front of 5000+ travelling fans.

    Maybe next time eh?

Sorry to p!ss on your Easter Bonnet.

You are like a stalker, your replies are so quick.

You’ve got to admit, its very quiet on this non-football board these days. Any ideas why? :?:

Why do you hate the Warriors?

Is it because they can take over 5000 travelling fans to a televised game against their biggest & bitterest rivals, and then beat them in what will be the last league fixture between those two rivals at that ground?

Those who post anti-Warriors rhetoric on here will never experience that feeling, seeing as your “biggest rivals” dont even play the same sport.

    Happy Easter Wigan!

Its looking bleak for West Ham now. They need to win their next two home games (Sunderland & Wigan) or they are as good as down.

You guys may well get the honour of sending the cheats down if you beat them on 24 April, particularly as Hull could well have picked up another 6-7 points by that date.

400 fans at City come on, that’s more like Ashton Athletic than Wigan Athletic

I see Cherry&White is awash tonight with anti-Latics threads. Lord, those bitter egg-chasers – you’d think they’d concentrate on their cup final on friday…

Really? Unless C&W has the most zealous moderating, then there’s hardly a mention of football on there, unlike threads like this that spring up pretty regularly.

I’m banned on there for sticking up for wigan ath and if you carry on you,ll be receiving a c and w red card! You continue to be antagonistic and basically a boring sod!!!!! We are quite tolerant on this site of other teams fans it,s just a pity c & w arnt the same!

If you dont like to hear the opposing viewpoint then why allow threads like this to remain? I didnt realise that the anti-rugby threads were for an exclusive club and that offering a different viewpoint is a crime.

Talk about chips on shoulders fellas….some of you have the whole fcuking potato crop!

Times have changed, for every mention of the Warriors on Latics websites, you’ll find dozens about Latics on Warriors sites.

So why do Wigan folk hate Wigan Warriors?

Lindsay. What he said in the 80’s about “little club and backyard” was at best immature. It was insulting to the loyal supporters of the football club and someone in his position should not have said it.

Latics not being allowed to use CP. I’m not sure of the exact history of this one, because I’ve heard two different versions. If it were a case of bloody mindedness (the blue version), then shame on the management company at the time. I have also heard that allowing the Latics to play Liverpool would have meant postponing a rugby fixture which was due to take place, and if thats the case then the refusal would be less of a crime than what DW did to the Warriors over the playoff game, when there was no clash – just the threat of him having to pay groundstaff overtime.

However, I feel that the real reason some folk hate Wigan Warriors is because they have history – over 100 years of it. They’ve arguably been the most successful sporting club side in living memory. They won their league 7 times in a row and the cup 8 times in a row. They have been World Club Champions 3 times.

You can call them “lodgers”, “tennants”, “cuckoos”, “chubbies”, “fatties”, “egg-chasers” all you like, but you cannot wipe out their history. They may be playing in “your” stadium, putting up flags in “your” stand, but like it or not, they are there and will continue to be there.

You dont like them because they have tasted the success you crave. They have ridden through Wigan on an open-top bus, parading trophy after trophy to thousands of cherry & white decorated Wiganers, all of them proud in the way those 13 lads put the town of Wigan on the map.

You dont like them because they have a side with home-grown talent in it, many of whom were supporters a few years ago. They know what its like to be a fan, and give 100% for the shirt. Whilst they have a few foreign players, they dont have a side packed with immigrant mercineries who do not give a flying fcuk about the town.

Above all, you dont like them because they are your rivals. Because the supporters of other football clubs see you as an insignificance.
