Peterbro owner on twitter saying appeal won Wigan stay up Barnsley down thank your QC. And
Not just a rumour eitherI’d have a word with your source. Sounds like he’s been on the same stuff Bullitt drinks.
The Hong Kong Phooey Stadium would be more appropriate.
He may be part of a consortium, but he wont buy it himself. As you’ve said already, he doesnt have the funds available to fund the money pit that is professional football. He certainly doesnt have the funds to buy and maintain the stadium on a Superleague Clubs budget.
In terms of whether it would be good for WAFC, then I think any consortium or individual that is connected to the town would be a good move. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the Latics have been owned by local(ish) people since the non-league days, right up to the day DW flogged it to a bunch of overseas money laundering crooks.
Egg never said that any money had been paid. He said we’ve stuck to the agreement. Perhaps no instalments were due for the first year?
Wouldnt a sell-on fee only kick in if he was being flogged for a profit? As I understand, he is being sold for less than he cost.
Earlier in the season, the general consensus was that Cook wouldnt resign because he had a massive contract that would net him a huge payoff if he was sacked.
If he goes, then surely compensation of a similar amount would be due.
Everything seems to be stacked against us Ali. 50 years loving this fabulous club that has given us absolutely everything seems to be coming to an end at rapid pace. We all know that sooner or later the truth will out and these pathetic dodgy pricks who have used the club for some kind of money manoeuvring or illegal monetary gains will face action. Trouble is we could be defunct by then and it will be too late. How can we be in this mess when we have tried to do things correctly. What is worse nobody seems to give a damn that we have been treated this way. We are affiliated like everyone else to the FA so why are they not interested in what’s gone on and demanding answers. Emotions are affecting my rationality and I’m probably way off the mark but I cant for the life of me understand any of this .
I suspect more clubs have been used by owners that are either fraudsters or money launderers. Wigan will be the tip of the iceberg and the EFL board will be shitting themselves if another club is found out to have effectively been a money laundering outlet for foreign crooks and goes the same way once they are deemed no longer fit for that purpose. To allow one owner to pass the test could be seen as an oversight, but when you have half a dozen or more, it begins to smell quite rotten to the core.
Wasnt expecting DW to come back and run the show, but as the bloke who flogged the club to these dodgy fuckers after over a year of dilly dallying to supposedly ensure he was passing the club onto a safe pair of hands, I would respectfully suggest that he shouldnt be sleeping comfortably at night at the moment, and as such, being involved in the rescue would be the moral thing to do.
Plus, it means his statue wouldnt be flogged off for scrap metal.
Surprised Whelan hasnt made an offer, particularly as he’d get it for much less than he sold it to the fraudsters for.
Yes very very proud of all our players who epitomised what a Latics side is all about in recent months. Hopefully we have found a buyer and can start again next season with a clean slate if the decision goes against us.
I’m sure that if there is a preferred bidder, they will have set two different prices, depending on what league you start next season in. The appeal process will put that purchase on hold until its resolved.
As tough as it is to take, which league you play in next season is secondary to playing professional football at all. If that means Sheff Wed & Derby get dealt with at a later date but you get to keep watching football at the DW, then so be it.
Moore will be the first of many to leave this summer, and until the ownership issue resolved and financial black hole plugged, I doubt you’ll see any arrivals, save the odd out-of-contract trialist on a pay as you play deal.
It gives me no pleasure to say it, but expect to be in a similar position that Bolton found themselves in for the first 2 months of the season after being rescued – playing kids, manager resigns, coaches let go, getting whipped each week.
Charlton won’t beat Leeds so in our hands for me.
I wouldn’t be so sure. Leeds’ season is now over. They are Champions and will be preparing for the Premier League. There’s no way they want to risk their star players having lumps kicked out of them by a Lee Bowyer-managed Charlton side who need to win at all costs.
It could come down to how WBA and Brentford are doing around 8:45pm on Wednesday. If one or both are winning easily at the 60 min point, I can see Scott Parker making 5 substitutions with both eyes on the playoff game against Forest.
Regardless of the “what if” scenarios, there is one fact:
Your safety is in your hands.
Now go and beat Charlton, and then beat Fulham reserves (there is no way they will be risking their first team squad just before the play-offs).
Fulham have just about blown their chance of automatic promotion and should be resting most of their first XI next week ready for their playoff game against Forest.
Only one in the 2nd half.
Bloody rubbish Wigan!
