It will be interesting to see how many turn out for the meaningless runners up friendly on Saturday against Brisbane  with ticket prices of £20-£28

I’m guessing a damn sight more than have shown up for any football match at the DW over the past couple of years. And a damn sight more than will show up for the foreseeable.

Using your theory, the 7000 remaining Latics fans that didn’t go to Southport, or the 7500 that didn’t go to Altringham are equally as hypocritical? What about the 18000 that made the trips to Wembley & the Millenium stadium but cant find their way to the DW – are they hypocrites too?

We could see this after 30 minutes, what was done about it? Absolutely nothing

Is it not time for you to call for the head of a coach you deem not to have a Plan B Bullitt/Masher/Stey?

You appeared to be doing that every week up to the point you were banned by the WEP. :cheer:

Still 45 points to play for, so it’s far from being over !

And Sharp’s “100 points” expectation is still on!

would divert the money away from their perennial operation of buying success.

Any shred of credability you may have had, which wasn’t much granted, was gone in that line.

I know you guys hate the rugby but if you’re going to fly the ‘rugby is the devil’ flag at least do some research first.

I wish we did have seperate grounds or a pitch that looked like a bowling green because at least then it would stop the childish crap from both sides. Granted my Facebook might not be as funny though.
Eggy the Rugby paid for their success through massive debts I recall or did they not sell Central Park to Tesco to pay off debts amassed whilst they won everything in sight.
But what does that have to do with now?
Shhhh Egg. They still think its the early 1990s.

in reply to: Let’s have a voty thing #147128

Can one of you geeky experts set up a voty button thing:

Eggs in Vs Eggs out of our stadium.

Not exactly going to be an unbiased poll, is it, and with what objective?

89.5% of Cockney Latic subscribers who bothered to enter a poll thought that Wigan Warriors should move out of the DW Stadium.
There. Done it for you. Now what?
89.5%?

You lot are getting soft in your old age. ;)

    ”When YOU were Premier League”

So Smutty when did you stop supporting Wigan Athletic, to go glory hunting?

Following Sunderland AFC for most of my life is hardly glory hunting. Maybe you should direct your bile at the 15,000 who started to show up at the DW in 2006 but have gone AWOL over the last couple of years.

Maybe just maybe if in a couple of seasons we are back in the top flight it may.

Personally Egg, I found this statement to be the one lacking in credibility.

Interesting point that JJ is acting as spokesman about relaying the pitch.

Shared? No – it’s Latics who are putting up the money.

Do you have an official link to that fact, or are you assuming because JJ was interviewed, then Latics have put up the money?

Does the cost of pitch relaying or ground maintenance feature in the Latics Annual Accounts?

I agree that the pitch is a mess, but as Egg has said, its the location – Huddersfield & Hull play as many league games on their pitch without it turning into a mud bath every February. In fact, when you were premier league, there would have been 7-8 less games played on it at this time of year and it still always looked shite.

I read somewhere that there is a giant septic tank under the pitch that would have been costly to remove at the time of construction, so DW went for the cheaper option and left it in situ to send its poisonous gases up through the land, which prevents the grass from growing during the cold months.

As every day passes, the number of folk that I am younger than dwindles. Thanks John for still being alive and still being older than me! :P ;)

There is a perfectly good Multi-purpose stadium in Leigh that Wigan Athletic can rent, it holds 12,000 which is more than adequate for us at the moment – we could even get rid of all those monsterous flags.

Sharpe needs to see sense and get out of the DW as its far too big, offer them 5 million to take it off his hands and Lennegan will snatch his hand off.

“Wigan rugby”….now where have I read that phrase before [name edited out]?

The WEP isn’t the same these days.

in reply to: State of the pitch tonight #147049

Of course he will. I take it that Dave Sharp will be inheriting enough money to pay compensation for the tearing up of the remaining 43 years on the lease to use the DW. I take it as well, that the income generated by WAFC will be enough to sustain the ground on its own. Bearing in mind you lost £4 million last year with PL parachute payments and the fat egg chasing cuckoos paying rent, then Whelan’s money would last you around 10 years if you received no rent. I suppose it would be nice for you all to see 35 year old Mr Sharp living in a 3 bed semi in Beech Hill, driving a white van, having sp**ked his inheritance on keeping a few 1980s Neanderthals happy.

    Welcome to the real world….

Don’t forget the 4 extra league games and all those Johnstone’s Paint trophy games that are played on it too these days.

On the bright side, at least the massive flags get a week off now. ;-)
