I guess it comes down to the selling of advertising space for those televised replays. Each of the 4 clubs have far more attraction than MK Dons, and I guess that the TV audience will therefore be bigger.
There’s no great surprises in the choice of 4th round ties, with the exception of Arsenal v Coventry. That said, with the exception of the ties listed above, there isn’t much in the draw for the media to drool over, with many premier league clubs drawn at home to lower league opposition.
Chose not to reply to this one then?“One glaring omission in your post is the amount of supporters Carlisle took and the reason you haven’t had a reply from the Mutster. 21000 – 7000 = 14000”
Not at all. Its just that Sunderland are not the current FA Cup holders, commencing their defence. I’ve already given you the stats as to the attendance on the last occasion they did – it was over 25,000.
Face facts – only 5000 folk actually care that you are the FA Cup Holders. The 20,000 that accompanied those 5,000 to Wembley seem to have forgotten, the BBC have forgotten, ITV have almost forgotten. Sky never cared in the first place. Have I missed anyone out? If I have, they’ve probably forgotten too.
Your attempts to try and deflect these harsh but true facts by comparing them with Rugby League and a football club 150 miles away are commendable, but they are irrelevant. Wigan are the current cup holders and Wigan have set a post-war record low attendance for the FA Cup holders defending their title.
Congratulations?
Wigan rugby have taken 30k to Wembley before now yet have had 4k on for cup games. But that’s a minority sport played along the M62 that doesn’t get as much coverage as Big Brother – why on earth would anyone expect huge crowds?
Sunderland lost 21k fans today. What makes us such a disgrace?Sunderland are not the current FA Cup holders, commencing the defence of their title on their own ground. When they last did defend the trophy at home, the crowd was 25,712.
Why should the BBC give a toss? 20000+ that went to Wembley disrespected you yesterday – I’d be more annoyed at their disrespect.
and as an added bonus, a post-war FA Cup record was broken today at the DW.
I’d have thought that you’d have something better to do at 3.05pm today – like watching your beloved ‘tics.
Or are you another of the no-shows?
Excellent news! I once made a 200 mile round trip to a game at Grimsby only for it to be abandoned after 6 minutes. The tight sods refused to refund us.
Over 400 away fans made the long journey to Hillsborough last night expecting to see 90 minutes of football, shelling up to £28 plus travel costs.
Will your tickets be valid for the rearranged game?
Good to see the town getting due recognition. Those who represented the town, be they from Wigan or not, have achieved something that will live long in the memories of every Wiganer.
How? Returning him home to his owner?
Its a long time since I saw him, but I’d know that face anywhere. I last saw him at Elland Road for a league cup tie that didn’t involve Wigan. Does he still have his little pin badge?
Chris Hutchings was sacked by DW after just 12 premiership games.
I’d have thought you lot would have had more important things to worry about than a rugby shirt – Like whether or not you will emulate Wolves (without the 20,000+ crowds of course).
They seem to be using an awful lot of football grounds – some of whom’s names I’ve never heard of before.
Lets hope sky don’t change some of the Premier League fixtures over that period, so the rah rahs have to go and find themselves a ploughed field on Clapham Common to play instead.
I wouldn’t be too sure about that MuttySeems my hunch may have been correct. ;)
And what a fantastic game England v New Zealand was. The owd farts down the road at Twickers must dream of having a game like that in their lifetime.
