Lmb marrer when I say he aint backed him I dont mean financially. He has always put Bobby up on a pedestal claiming he is the best around and who knows if he had someone to look up to as his mentor maybe he could be a brilliant gaffer. Recently we have had Eric Black and Chris Hutchings who were superb no 2s and this is where I think Bob has fallen down. Ok he may have wanted Jones as his sidekick but he is simply not up to it and if Dave Whelan sees what we all see why is he not putting it right. Dont you think it strange that the man who performed possibly the greatest football miracle in getting Wigan Athletic into the Premier League now seems to be content at our current state?. Bobby needs help to make him see where he is going wrong Jones and Barrow are not the men for the job so this is where he needs backing.
Well he has had a good teacher the founder member of the Dave Whelan egotistical school for talking boll.x.
Okay Ste,You’ve sold me on’t Town, so that’s one ground that I’ll definitely visit if we go down.
Howdy marrer its a place to go if you have never been one of those “must go to an away game” like Fratton Park Upton Park etc. When i was a kid watching Latics in non league football i dreamt of going to 3 stadiums someday they were White Hart Lane, The Baseball Ground and Portman Road and thanks to our brilliant club i managed all 3 and so many more that we could only fantasise about in those days.
…for those of us who actually think its a good career to drive for a living sad i know.
Don’t knock it. Lee Westwood drives for a living and it doesn’t do him any harm.
         thing is Griff he earns a bit more than me and only works around 4hrs a day
Ipswich is a great place to watch football right near town centre buttermarket etc. Lovely stadium some good pubs around and the car park is also used as a truckstop for those of us who actually think its a good career to drive for a living sad i know.
Did we lose first season?2005.
first season Chimbonda scored at the end to give us a lucky win if i remember right
Come on chaps. The original post asks for players from the last five years.I clearly ignored this too, so now I’ll agree with Griff on David Unsworth for the same reason, although Heskey’s performance that day was monumental, so he gets a honourable mention as well.
Valencia and Palacios could qualify for the umpteen millions they brought into the club/Whelan’s back pocket* in transfer fees :D
* delete according light/dark tendancies.
If its last 5 yrs you want surely only Mike Pollit and Paul Scharner qualify
Dave Whelan
Paul JewellNo explanations needed.
absolutely and a few more who fall into the same “no explanations needed” category
Alex Cribley
Ian Gillibrand
Mike Pollit
and for being dumped on x2 but doing a brilliant job both times Ray Mathias
over to the rest of you ;)
I find the banter on here very amusing and in truth unlike some other message boards, at least we get differing views and oppinions. Football grabs us all and the passion shown on here makes this a great site. The pro-anti Martinez scenario makes good reading and i find myself sometimes agreeing with both the fabled lightside / darkside brigade. This board gives me hours of entertainment and long may it continue. Keep up the quality posting.
you did not make the list either and sucking up to both sides will not help pick a side or pick a fight i am not picking on you you but if i was being picky you could be the person i picked on just to pick up some brownie points so i could be picked in the review for next year if you get what i mean but if you do not get what i mean then i am sorry for picking up on this point
I dont suck up to anyone on here jungle my owd tayter if you missed my point then fair enuff but football has and will always be about opinnions and just like our wonderful British weather they can change at the drop of a hat. All i do is read every post and try to either agree or disagree with them and give what i believe to be my honest take on each subject.
Didnt see that coming today, with injuries etc and our recent cup pedigree. Very pleasing result and young Macca starring. I can enjoy the weekend for a change well done boys.

You will have to be more contraversial owd lad and get into slanging matches
For fook sake what do people want? In todays climate of mercinary players who dont give a flier bout anything else but themselves Mike Pollit stands out. Has he ever moaned or made demands? He has always behaved as you would expect a reserve keeper to. How many clubs can say that they have a brilliant back up goalie eh? I think we been blessed in that respect and tho Polly may not be the best keeper in the world he is certainly one of the best clubmen this team has ever had. The lad has done what he was paid to do and just gets on with it to the best of his ability. Mike Pollit goes down as a true Tic in my eyes
Nuneaton – you have hit the nail bang on the head
In what way has he “hit the nail bang on the head”?
Martinez wants Graeme Jones as his preferred no. 2. Whelan has had no influence in that decision.
Whelan backed the signing of Boselli against the advice of other established and respected football people within the club so how has Martinez been hung out to dry exactly?
So your saying its all down to Martinez then ? Everything is his fault eh? John Benson told the club Boselli was not worth the money being asked so who finally sanctioned it ? Valencia is going nowhere and is committed to Wigan Athletic,, oops.” Roberto will have a transfer warchest but shhhhhhhh ill never let him have the key to open it he he he he”. Graeme Jones as no 2 “oh goody he wont cost us as much as a decent experienced man who will bring Roberto on in leaps and bounds”. Honestly if you think that all the crucial decisions are not made by mr Whelan fair enuff but he has been ruthless in the past(ask Ray Mathias). I just dont think that all our problems are down to the manager some are definately but its unfair for him to carry the can solely.
Bob has signed most of the quality we now have in our squad    he picks the team with Gomes in it    he is responsible for the tactics, one up front against a team on a terrible run of results   :lol:How can Griff and Standish still stick up for him it’s beyond belief.
Griff and Standish are only showing true loyalty to the guy. For what its worth i think he is taking us down but ive posted on here before its down to the owner as well as RM. I worshipped him as a player but to be honest he has had little help or real support from his board and this will be proved in the coming window. Why the hell have we not got a proper no 2 like Hutchings and Black in the past?. Whelan tells the world Roberto is the best young manager around then hangs him out to dry. Ive been critical of RM myself and i think its justified but i also hold DW and the board just as culpable for what is looking like the inevitable
