You can tout as many names as you want but Whelan will never sack Bobby and he has already said it. My answer would be to bring in an old manager to work under him and teach him the ropes someone George Graham, esque who can teach him how to start from the back. Lets face it each and every one of us would love to see Bobby get it right so come on Dave get the lad some help.
When he was appointed manager D W said “Roberto will have the job as long as he wants even if we go down” well guess what Dave thats exactly whats gonna happen.
Ticslad, the point i was trying to make is that our young fans who have only seen Championship/Premier league Latics have had to put up with the constant “small club no fans no history” bollox like the rest of us but havent had the enormous pleasure of seeing the club overtake the so called massive clubs on our historic rise thru the divisions pi..ing off all and sundrae. If a glory hunting Man Ure or Liverpool fan asks a young Wigan fan “what success have you seen watching that rubbish?” what does he say? Let him ask me the same question. I think im very lucky to have been a fan of over 40 yrs ive seen it all i dont want us to get relegated of course not but if it happens ill get over it i will be able to answer the innevitable bile from other fans. Will our young supporters?
“wanting to fail” Im not sure if thats the case but understandable to us owd uns who have been fans for donkeys. If we get relegated ill be distraught but ill soon get over it I personally hate the prem and what it stands for but we will still be in the championship and at a really good level. Ive said on here before it will hurt our younger fans more who were not around during our non-league/ lower league days for obvious reasons. We are all fans at the end of the day and we all have different opinions but im sure we all will remain Wigan Athletic fans whatever the outcome. Its what makes us different from anybody else. Stick 2 fingers up to the rest and say “im Wigan and im proud”
you could be right about the league sammy marrer but as we lost the replay narrowly it cant count as a giant killing same with City and Everton
As we lost all these games City included im wondering now our biggest ever scalp. Maybe Chelsea (league Cup 4-2) We often beat lower league clubs i e Mansfield Shrewsbury etc as a non league club but we wasnt that many places below them
Bath mon, Chelsea were top of the old second division when we beat them at the Bridge and had just beat Newcastle 6-0 if my memory serves me right. Newcastle were the top dogs of the day when we went to St James,s in the fifties and we would have been in the Cheshire league
i think you will find that a certain mickey quinn netted in each of his first 5 games for the latics so hes has to be in the running
skriked all,t road home from that game, lasting memory of it was the size of their soddin keeper bloody ell he was enormous (fat as f…)
well guys i reckon quite a few people will agree with him, maybe secretly but i myself admit i aint enjoying it anywhere near i did pre prem. i think its the big four bias that gets my back up most we will never be able to compete at this level and it bloody hurts like hell getting beat week after week
Doubt any of us was at The greatest FA Cup game by the Latics surely it was against Jackie Milburns all conquering Newcastle at St James,s a 3-3 draw against the league champs. 1953 i think
For me it has to be Telford Utd, we mullered em and got done and to make maters worse the guy who got the winner was a lad from Nuneaton and a friend of mine
Why aint anybody waiting till after weekend games? When the Wolves are above us at the weekend then Mick will turn out to be a genius whilst our manager will be picking positives out of yet another defeat and stating we are in an ok position
Celtic Crusaders moving to Wrexham from south Wales
One more fine example of the state of Rugby League
NO ONE GIVES A FLYING F..K ABOUT IT
I didnt want Bobby appointing in the first place simply because it was obvious this was going to happen. I want him to remain a legend here but it is looking unlikely now. I have always been one of Dave Whelans biggest supporters and as a fan of 40yrs i know exactly what this guy has done for my beloved club. BUT, both DW and Bobby are contributing to our present plight. We was told Lee Cattermole was going nowhere then he leaves 4 days before the season kicks off, DWs fault. Roberto brings his open attacking style of play to the prem but forgets we need to defend as well, Bobbys fault. Valencia, Palacios etc are sold for tremendous profit and we move in for championship replacements at cost price, DWs fault. Roberto goes back to Swansea to get Gomez and Scotland and is being linked as we speak with yet more Swans players, Bobbys fault. I could go on but the point is I understand how people want him out now but it is more deep rooted than that. After all the promises made to us in the past if we want to remain in the Prem then this transfer window has got to be the one where Dave delivers. No more bad buys or panic buys we now need at least 5 quality signings starting with a keeper and then we can see how Bobby manages the team. One thing is for sure he will continue to struggle with the players he has at present.
