If i remember right wasnt Charlton one of the highest paid directors anywhere in football under Pye,s tenure?

RM one of the best young managers !!! you are seriously taking the pi$$. We will finish bottom being relegated scoring the least number of goals thanks to a manager who is so one dimensional its beyond a joke. A good manager learns from past mistakes and after 18 months in the job starts making a difference. This mons only improvement up to now is that his worst defeat this season only stands at 0-6. He has constantly underused one of our brightest talents (Moses) then has the audacity to tell us that him coming back is like signing a new player. His after match comments are farcical, does he even know what he is saying? Ive stated before imho Dave Whelan should have made sure he had a proper no 2 to help nurture him into a good manager and takes a share of the blame. This is probably the poorist Prem since we got promoted and its the season we go down. Ive seen every manager since Gordon Milne at this club and RM is amongst the worst. Football is about results and he simply doesnt get enough positive results. Ive always thought of myself as stuck in the middle of the Lightside/Darkside brigade as i have agreed with both on occasions i love the banter and debates with Griff, Standish etc making brilliant arguements for and Lmb and Bicky etc making the same justified arguements against. If these comments dont suit some on here and put me down as Darkside then so be it but after over 40yrs watching this club im not gonna say Bobby is a good manager just so it seems im a true supporter coz he so clearly isnt. This is the season we should have pushed on and possibly could have with a stronger man at the helm. Im sorry to dissagree with the original post but to make out that RM is a really good manager is ludicrous based on his tenure as Latics boss as of yet.

There was a young gaffer from Spain

Whose tactics were nowt but a pain

Now we,ve all got the hump

    Coz the gobshoite wont jump

So please Whelan show him the Plane

Right again Griff we aint good enough and will probably go down finishing bottom as all the others are at least trying to bring in better players. But also we seem to have lost the ability to find decent players from overseas cheaply, Palacios, Valencia Rodders etc all came relatively unknown and made huge impacts. Have we stopped looking? For a few years there we seemed to unearth a few gems from football backwaters. Im still dreading the last day of this window. :(

”After next Monday night (transfer window) we’ll know whether we (as a club) are up for the fight or not.”

That just about puts it all in a nutshell Griff.

absolutely spot on the white flag has been washed, pressed and is ready to wave

Isn’t that part of being a chairman. They are his employees. If he was never prepared to make a go of it he should have left us alone rather than use us as a guinea pig to boost his wealth.

Question for you Yosser, of the 90+ proffesional clubs in the league how many of them turn a profit and are in the black? I cant for the life of me see how DW has boosted his wealth at WAFC as apart from Arsenal who made good profit by adding an extra 20,000 fans every home game due to the Emirates we probably lose thousands of pounds every game. Dave Whelan cannot make the townsfolk support the club he cant stop glory hunters being Utd,Citeh,Everton or Liverpool fans even if they never go. Just because our crowds are vanishing the club still has to pay its dues wages policing etc etc etc. Many lesser people would have got shut a long time ago.

He has not done anyone any favours with his loyalty to the manager and that includes RM letting him plod along thru one failure after another. He certainly isnt the ruthless owner anymore who wouldnt let anyone or thing stop him taking WAFC to the Prem. And he aint willing to throw money at it willy nilly but to get personal and call the fella “a knob” etc is totally unfair. Ive been critical about him myself but ill never insult the man whom we can never repay for the clubs achievement. Dont people realise just how seriously we were in trouble pre DW? Without him coming along when he did there may not even be a Wigan Athletic FC today. And have we forgot that the football league wanted to throw us out coz of the state of dear old Springy. Whelan only got us a reprieve coz the blueprints and the go ahead for the then JJB were shown to the League. We could have easily gone the way of Newport County,Aldershot and Maidstone but instead we went on a dream ride to the top thanks to DW. We know he doesnt want to burden his family with the club and will sell and fair play to him and he seems content in us losing our Prem status. So whilst im dissappointed and upset in the way he is running things at the minute im not gonna sink low enough to insult him and slag him off. I .think we all owe him that much at least

in reply to: Would you …. #56208

Yeah lets play a weak team and run the risk of embarrassment i mean its not like we have a bad goal difference is it? which could cost us at the end of the season.

in reply to: Are we interested in anyone in this window #56129
Bobby will sort it and we will remain in the prem then next season Hindley blue will    to Owd trafford watching his proper team

I would wait till the end of the window before making predictions like that mon, we could lose our better players then we really are in the quagmire

in reply to: Hotel to be built next to the stadium #56001

Spookily enough i was thinking today who owns all the parking areas around the DW. Many of us on here have been to most stadiums in England and i cannot recall a ground with as much parking space as we have. Question is who owns the land as WAFC own the stadium. Did the council retain all the surrounding land or did mr Whelan buy a certain amount of land in which to erect the DW.

im dreading the 3 players out Jayt but i can see it happening tho doubt anyone will want to come to us to join a relegation battle

in reply to: Bring On The Championship. #55928

well guys i reckon quite a few people will agree with him, maybe secretly but i myself admit i aint enjoying it anywhere near i did pre prem. i think its the big four bias that gets my back up most we will never be able to compete at this level and it bloody hurts like hell getting beat week after week

Well Nuneaton the problem is, if we get relegated, and then don’t beaten week after week, we end up with the very real possibility of getting promoted, and then, shucks, it’s back to the Premier League again.

We must have the only supporters in the country who want relegation and want to stay in the lower leagues, and it’s laughable.

It’s like a local band ‘selling out’, much to the dismay of their fans who have followed them since pub gigs.

To me, it’s the old elitist ‘I was at Canvey Island don’t you know’ doctrine again:

‘Let’s get back to playing on a ploughed field in front of a thousand, and get rid of these Johnny Come Latelys. Bah, I hate the Rugby, thinking they’re better than us.’

If you have no hopes or ambition for your team, what is the point of supporting them? If you want to remain mid-table, treading water, then why not do that in the top division?

Anyone who wants to remain lower league, playing in from of a handful, with a real exclusive feel about the whole supporter thing, then why not go and form Athletic Of Wigan? The Mancunians are showing what a massive ‘success’ it can be.
Mr Standish….top quality response (I only wish I’d beaten you to it). The morons, and I include the originator(s) of this post, will not be satisfied until we are ‘kicking cans’ in Cambridge Street again. It’s true…what do they want if we get relegated?

“Heeyyyyy!!! be careful we might make the play-off’s and get back into that top thingy again…….me and me trout want to go to Blackpool again – it’s only holi we get”

Some people need to realise that it’s actually 2010 not 1972 with Gordon Milne and Mr Fleming et al…………move on you morons and get with the club you all say you have supported for the last thousand years.

    We push on from here……………..

    ……..and we stay here.
I never said i wanted us to get relegated Standish and Mickey i said there are people who will agree with Vat and i know some of these people. I have been through this clubs only relegation and believe me it takes some getting over why the hell do you think im not enjoying us failing to win week after week? At the present time the Prem seems to be about who has the richest owners and not about being the top division in the best league in the world. I can see why Vat has these views even if i dont share them.
