On the same subject, Worriers are now in the quarter finals. Just think the amount of games we played in to reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup.
Two less cup games next season when we will be a dream 3rd round away tie for lower league clubs like Sunderland.
Meanwhile, whilst DW and the Hong Kong Set do their very long, slow dance, the rest of the world is moving on. Contracts need to be re-negotiated, new players need to be identified and signed and those who run the club on a day to day basis need to plan for the Championship, particularly with regard to what the operating costs and budget will be.
Obviously, they’ve not heard about the takeover, lol.I’m sure they have. This takeover is now 3rd behind Eastenders & Coronation St in “longest running saga”. Why is it that a takeover of Sunderland is done and dusted within a couple of days, yet this one has dragged on and on and on?
I’m beginning to think that one party is trying to screw a bit more out of the other party and it will all end in tears. I hope to be proved wrong, but DW does not have the funds needed to subsidise a successful championship campaign.
I doubt the likes of Leeds, Villa, Derby, Middlesborough and whoever comes down from the premier league will be parking the bus when they visit the DW – and why would they?
I suspect Cook’s success next season will be measured on how he gets his team, most of whom couldn’t hack it two years ago, to grind out points away at clubs who have better players, bigger crowds and more experience.
I haven’t heard or seen anything that indicated they went on to taunt the Swansea fans, or that they verbally abused the Swansea players as they left the pitch.
Some little pricks even on the pitch. It wasnt that long ago that you were defending people who ran onto the pitch.
I wonder if this thread is filled with 3 pages of posts like the portsmouth one was after monday. No, because most of those who frequent here were watching on TV or listening to the radio last Monday rather than being at the game, and thus had nothing better to do than moan once the final whistle went
13,000 managed to celebrate without being nobs and running on the pitch.
The club deserve a hefty fine, and the pricks that were on the pitch should foot the bill.
The game was pretty much played in one half of the pitch. First half was all Wigan, but we failed to take the half-chances that came our way. 2nd half, they came out with a different mindset, scored and then kept us at arm’s length for the rest of the game. In fact it could have been worse if Gabbiadini had converted his one-on-one chances with Walton.
Don’t fret. The tourists wont be back for a long time.
They also have a stock of 5000 printed maps with the location of the DW stadium that were found around the South, East & West stands in non-season ticket holder seats. Police are particularly keen to reunite their owners with these maps before 3pm on Saturday.
And, Dave. They are amongst the richest business people in Asia, and that really is saying something.
If these guys are so rich, then they could easily afford to terminate the contract with the rugby and pay them the £20m or so compensation that may be due for buying out the remainder of a 50 year lease. That would be recouped with one season in the prem.
Similarly, if they are so rich and the pitch does hinder the progress up the league, then these guys are rich enough to move the football club to a purpose-built stadium that isnt below the water line, and that is full every week, as they wont want to have “their” club on TV in the far east playing to a 30% full stadium.
With DW, we knew what we were getting – an honourary Wiganer who loved the town, but these new owners have no affinity to the town, and could easily move their club to an area where there is a bigger fanbase.
Where would Wigan Athletic have a bigger fanbase?
In an area where football league clubs are scarce and population larger. Salisbury/Winchester area has quite a large population but no league club for miles. As far as I’m aware, they don’t even have a top level rugby club competing for support!

Were you buying on behalf of you and 9 other ST holders, or are you acquiring tickets for infrequent visitors to the DW – ie the gloryhunters that so many on this board openly dispise.
In hindsight wouldnt it just have been better to have played and won the game when it should have been played rather than have the mid-season holiday.
Not our choice whether the game is played or not
Not now, but it was earlier in the season where a call-up for Morsy and a couple of reserve players meant we invoked the original postponement.
