I’m starting to get concerned about the backlog of league fixtures that a cup run will have. Oxford & Portsmouth games already need rearranging, as will Morecambe if this ends up going to a replay. Then there’s the internationals at the end of March which could well mean the Burton game gets rearranged.
Its nice to have a cup run, and the prize money helps, but if it impedes the chance of a top 2 spot then I’d rather we bowed out in the 3rd round. I think with the likes of Derby coming down, L1 could become very hard to get out of next season, whereas there doesn’t seem to be a stand-out team this year and its up for grabs.
I thought their HQ was at the Robin Park Arena, and they only used the DW for first team home fixtures. Cant see why they’d have any non-matchday press conference at the DW.
Havent we only paid back 25% of the debts to non-football creditors? That still means a lot of people and companies have suffered a 75% shortfall.
With respect to Bolton, my understanding was that if 25% isnt paid back, then additional points deductions would be applied. Bolton only had the 12 point deduction in 19/20 that was applied for entering Admin at the end of the previous season. The lack of an additional deduction in 19/20 or 20/21 suggests the new owners paid what they had to pay – same as Wigan.
They overspent to go into admin, we were shafted into admin, huge difference,
We had a shortfall of £500,000 a month – thats overspending.
Turns out it wasn’t a red card offence after all because it’s been rescinded.
Talk about bad refereeingImagine what would happen if Wimbledon hadnt scored that 97th minute equaliser against Rochdale, as that decision would have relegated us.
Would Barnsley have had the final say if an appeal was submitted for a shit ref decision?
I’m looking forward to welcoming Windarse and Dunkley to L1 football – unless of course they find another relegation-bound Championship club to massage their ego for a further 12 months.
It depends if implying a rolex and a £20K bonus was motivation to avoid the drop instead of professional pride.
It is so unfair that our players can now go for peanuts their worth hasn’t dropped why should their price. Surely if a club is in our predicament then the asking price must be met it’s just stupid. We are gonna lose millions on Robinson alone.
We signed Victor Moses from palace for a knockdown price when they were financially fucked.
1. FA Cup Final.
2. Semi v Arsenal.
3. Relegating West Ham. I stayed, when a few thousand had done the Wigan Walk.
4. Promotion v Mansfield. That Larry Lloyd team was class.
5. Port Vale 5-3.
Worst was losing to Telford in the FA Cup. First time I remember being on the wrong end of an upset. And there was a shit load of fighting.
I don’t think anyone truly believes there are more people in Wigan who are playing or watching rugby than football.
Similarly, I don’t think anyone can deny that more home fans turn up at the DW to watch a rugby game than a football game.
It just means that both sides of the argument can claim to be correct.
50 points will be enough. there is little to choose between the bottom 7 and as nobody is cast adrift, we’ll probably see all three teams relegated with more than 40 points. The times when a side goes down with >50 points are usually when there are a couple of whipping boys occupying the bottom two places.
Great following from the 2,000 fans that made the trip. Let’s go and get Promotion to Division one.. ;)Indeed it was. Makes you wonder where they’ll be at 3pm today.
Go to Wigan Athletic FC site and then newsI asked you to post a link to your claim and you failed to do so instead choosing to be vague.
I call Bullshit.
Care to hoy up a link – all I see is streaming unavailable for this weekend’s game.
Ubers?Ubers – Those who go to every game regardless of income or difficulty travelling or time off work – a higher level of fan than a Season Ticket Holder who goes to most of the home games but hardly ever travels away.
