8888? Is that a row of 4 rugby fans?
My only fear from Saturday is, after Saturday we’ve set a president in our performance level and trying to maintain that week in week out might be nigh impossible.

Perhaps only in yours & mr brownbill’s eyes who will possibly expect that every week – which will be impossible. Quite a few of us on here are your stereotypical happy clapping realistic bunch of supporters.
So true, only you and your tramadol bunch of “Eeeeeeeee, I remember ….”happy clappers are so narrow minded enough to think I hope we stay up. I hope the club owners and the players alike are more ambitious than you. Christ I bet you were just happy to beat Macclesfield back in 2013.
I know what would make you happy, a bovril and a trip Telford away and a snatch over the program.
I too have ambitions & do indeed want the VERY best for my club. However, I am realistic enough to know that the performance on Saturday CANNOT be repeated every week for all manner of reasons. That is where you & I & many others differ in our opinions.

For the record, I’m not very keen on bovril. It sticks at the bottom no matter how hard you stir it.

Vat, I’m really sorry to disagree with you. But what in your opinion constitutes as a big club. You raise some points in your post, but we are far from a big club.

It ain’t looking so good for Gregg

If he played for Latics, past or present, who would he be?

I’d say Scott Green?

Greeny was alright, more of a Marsdens, I’d say Stephen Appleton was more like Greggs.
Nah! Stephen Appleton was more like pound bakery.

We do have a vegetarian version gg, the cheese pie, although it’s not vegan if thats what you mean.

For the record I asked for a pea supper pie (my favourite) and got a cheese pie that was still very good, but the poor three staff were totally over run while serving. C’mon Cookie, sort it out!

Cook is out of his depth! Cook out!

He was my Man of the match today.
I have been the first to criticise him in the past, but hats off to him today, he was outstanding.
Maybe with Nick Powell having gone it allowed him to play that roll.
He might not have the flair and finesse of Powell, but he certainley has a better work ratio, is a great deal faster and can play the full 90 minutes.
Well done Josh Windass, keep it up.

Totally agree with all of that. I in particular liked how he never hid or sulked after his penalty miss – totally different attitude to an ex player of ours.

Best team won on the day. We really took the game to Cardiff & attacked them from the off. Very enjoyable game from start to finish.

Fingers crossed there is no Hamstring infestation going around this time.

McLeod donny!!

Cracking piece of publicity work, on the eve of the season. Thats how I see it.

4000 away fans singing “what the f is that?” May see it differently. Ha ha.

Summat for the kids.

Agree totally. And tbh if they wonder what the f is that, then they are idiots.

Now compare that to Partick whose mascot is (I think) vaguely like a thistle (yellow?) but looks as miserable as sin, permanently angry, compared to jolly Crusty.
I love him.

Spot on with everything both Vat & JR have posted. I like your point JR about the new players needing time to gel etc, & I seriously hope the fans give the new boys a chance, & not getting on their backs the moment a pass goes astray or a missed sitter for example.

I’m impressed with how much the owners have spent on these players, without spending silly amounts. As Vat mentioned, we now seem to have depth within the squad this season & competition for places giving cook both A a good headache, & B the options to try a plan B when things aren’t working.

With Moore hopefully on his way (subject to passing his medical), I still feel we need at least 1 more CB & CM (Johnson) then that should be job & squad complete.

Truth is a lot of mascots have a “connection” with the club it represents. For eg, Liverpool’s mascot is a Liver bird, west ham’s has a hammer head & so on. Pies are associated with Wigan.

I loved springy/JJ. I never really understood stripey or those 2 weird looking things. I never really understood the connection to Wigan. A pie however……

in reply to: Reinforce the stereotype why not #180012

I quite like it TBH! Tongue in cheek stereotype of Wigan. Harmless fun.

As long as he doesn’t get pie eyed ;)
