If Martinez does come back to raid players won’t they be the same players who weren’t good enough to keep us in thee Prem playing the Martinez way?.
Shops open , , Whelan is a dab hand with RRP ….
And before the FA cup is brought up again……Prem was over 38 games were as the cup was over 6 ,,, 4 of them against Shiite …..thanks for the cup now your gone let’s move on ….hope to feckin god its not Coyle…..I never trust anyone who finishes every sentence with a sarcastic smile.
fa cup, fa cup and fa cup.
long may it be brought up…
who was shite? were you at Macclesfield? they were damn good for a non league team and I was particularly impressed with John Paul kissock.
obviously was a big game for them as was the final for us.
the beauty of the facup.
we won the cup in the same way as it has ever been won before. we completely deserved it and I won’t let anyone take anything away from what was a fantastic achievement.
I personally didn’t like the way Bruce left us when he went to Sunderland.
There was no reason in the world to come out with the Harrods- Tesco comment whichever way you want to interpret it, he dissed our club in his first fekin interview, the twort. Then within weeks he had the audacity to come straight back to tescos for Catts and Bramble.
No Bruce for me please, new era, new challenges, new hope, totally new manager please! :)
agree with your anti Bruce sentiments but I honestly can’t think of anyone better to get us out the championship.
like I said before though its a complete non story IMO.
he didn’t sign bramble til the season after he left BTW …
I am still having nightmares about brambles terrible long passes under martinez…
I think most reasonable people could put bad feelings aside for Bruce and agree his record for getting teams promoted from the championship could be invaluable.
will he ever bring domestic success and European qualification as Martinez did?
I very much doubt it….
Martinez said today “ It’s a normal assumption when a manager moves on that you think he’s going to take players with him. When you get to know a player, you get to know the person, and it’s important to bring those players along.
“I think it would be a big mistake for a club of our size just to look back at the manager’s previous teams. We’re looking at a whole range of players. World football is a big, big market, and we’re looking at players and individuals who can help our dressing room.
“That doesn’t mean that we need to go back to the previous club at all.”
sorry to dissapoint but no major conspiracy to be had here!
I am with Whelan on this one everyone has a price.
considering Maloney and mcmanaman have contracts until 2016 that price won’t be a packet of peanuts and could bank roll our promotion push.
I am amazed people are still coming to terms with the way we operate.
maybe you all started to take Martinez no need to sell our best players policy for granted?
When Bruce left and was replaced with Martinez it heralded a change in direction for the club. Out went the policy of signing established players and journeymen on inflated wages and in came the philosphy of bringing younger players to the club and the promise of an academy to further this development.
I can’t believe Whelan will go back to the previous regime under Bruce even if he may have put the academy on hold pending a return to the Premiership. And I can’t believe Bruce would want to work under the current structure and financial restraints which, if the stories are to be believed, was the reason he left us back in 2009.
Who were these journeymen that bruce signed ?
I suppose caldwell, scharner, scotland, david jones, alcaraz and kone are not journey men are they ?
You really do have a hard on for Bruce don’t you …
he wasn’t called bottom three bob for nothing salford ;)
dont think its a case of sour grapes more of the way the 2hat left usYes with a big cup in the cabinet and a European tour on the horizon.
we know one thing there wont be many bums on seats next year if coyle gets itI’ll be there if he appoints David Dickinson.
I support the club foremost not the manager.
Just seems like an easy out does this, If true. There are far more managers with potential than Coyle. Though he did do a good job at Burnley and in Scotland but hit a brick wall with funds at Bolton.
I don’t think Whelan is interested in progression though. All money to him, No other chairman pimps out his managers or players. It’s a laughable way to conduct yourself if you were slightly interested in progression. Money, money, money, Sod the fans. We don’t deserve a football club after all though do we as we don’t sell out every game according to him and line his pockets. If he doesn’t get his own way he cries to the relevant people who will listen. You won’t get bums on seats if you don’t show that you want us to progress. Not just spending cheap and hoping for a fluke promotion to come straight back down again. It’s time to hand the club over. If it’s in profit then it will sell, Not how Dave makes out how no one wants it, no money ever comes in, not a pot to piss in blah blah.
What exactly do you think Whelan lines his pockets with when all the money received from sales is needed to merely keep the club afloat?
It would be a case of ‘sod the fans’ if the club went into administration, but that hasn’t happened and we’ve had eight years as the smallest club ever to play in the Premier League – with an FA Cup win, and you’ve got one man to thank for all of that.
‘You won’t get bums on seats if you don’t show that you want us to progress.’ That’s not entirely true. After finishing 10th in the Premier League, the club tried to increase season ticket prices and the average attendance dropped. If finishing 10th in your first season in the Premier League isn’t progress, I don’t know what is. Even if the club filled the empty 6,000 or so seats for the entire season, they’d make around £3million extra. Wiganers turn up if it’s cheap.
Whelan has said for years that’s he’d sell the club, and there isn’t exactly a queue of Arab billionaires waiting to snatch his hands off.
People don’t buy football clubs to make money, so the fact we’re in profit is irrelevant – otherwise after you’d bought it, it’d take you fifteen years or more just to break even. What’s the point?
But you want him to merely hand it over? To who exactly and why should he?
Surprised you have took this man on Standish.
Yosser criticises Whelan’s ambition to get bums on seats yet openly admits he doesn’t attend many games…
He cant do anymore than he has to get bums on seats in the past 8 years aside from financially cripple himself, the club and his family after he passes.
If he can get us into Europe is it that ridiculous of a notion he can get one of the top 6 teams in the country into the Champions League spots?
Coming across very bitter some of you.
Very happy with both those fixtures!
Putting aside my obvious disappointment with Bruce’s previous exit strategies I would give him my support from day one if he took the job.
He’s not going to take the job though as its seems to be a story made out of thin air.
He would be odds on to do the job and get us back in the Premiership as well.
I think there is enough creative players in the squad currently that can cause the best teams in the world a problem on their day which if coupled with a solid defence that Bruce seems to have a reputation for putting together would be a very good thing.
I dont think he is tactically good enough to create the sort of performance in the FA CUP final where Martinez seemed to leave Mancini with no ideas.
And I dont think he would take us any further than the bottom end of the Premiership.
However he would be open to criticism from me until he proves me wrong which I would be more than happy to happen and definitely wouldn’t get the sort of loyal backing I gave to Martinez through some periods of bad performances as I don’t think he would provide the sort of confidence Martinez did that even through the defeats something good was coming.
It shouldn’t be a problem though as like I said I dont think there is anything in this story.
I think my feelings towards a potential return of Bruce is be best summed up by the wise words of Brick Top. “You’re on thin f*****g ice my pedigree chums, and I shall be under it when it breaks.”
Mates Griff ? Where did I mention mates ? Follow the words with your finger on the screen if it helps !!Yeah Griff.
He obviously has no mates.
Quote – (You and your mates too, by the sounds of it, if they are considering walking away from the club they purport to support because the Owner might do something they don’t like). What if you are a Blackburn Rovers fan ?
Can you compare Whelan’s running of the club to that of the Venky’s in any scenario?
I highly reccomend this new Bruce bait on the market.
Catches all manner of suckers ;)
How much do you think we’d get if we flogged him now ? He’s still in the early stages of his career .Im sure we’d get alot more if he proves to be as good as I think he is.Do you want us to bounce back next season ? ? Don’t you think a player like Macmanaman would be a huge advantage ?As for Griff ,the man is still struggling to come to terms with Robbies 4 year relegation plan coming to fruition that he now resigns himself to addressing posters grammar !!! Ours, his ? Whoevers investment the fact is to move season tickets Whelan will have to give supporters a modicum of optimism and I’m afraid no matter how cheap they are some folks decision to buy will hinge on just that .Are you possibly getting a bit carried away with yourself here fella?
Nobody has said or indicated anything to say Macca will be leaving.
Not to mention if the information is correct that he is contracted for the next three years then for an effective premier league winger I would say the going rate is £10 million +
