I rate Holt as a target man and never a pure finisher

So does Coyle. Bring back Heskey.

like has been said earlier just because he doent want to wear a poppy so what ? you dont know his reasons nor do i perhaps he should come out and give his reasons then we could understand a bit more

Actually most do/should know his reasons as he explained it when he chose not to wear the poppy playing for Sunderland.

I personally don’t think he had any obligation to explain himself to anyone as it is as much anyone’s right to wear a poppy as it is to choose not to with the public judging him as they see fit.

There is nothing to explain this time anyroad as he didn’t refuse to wear a poppy he didn’t make the squad through injury.

Roll on next year so arseholes like Smuttynob can attempt to tarnish our great club with it.

has Everton at the wrong end of the table ?

With performances like today, very, very soon. Bobby has had his fair share of luck in the games I’ve seen and heard so far this season.

Spurs looked like Barcelona passing their way through the Everton’s midfield.

I think connections from both Mersey-side clubs are far too over optimistic of where they will finish in the EP league this season. Fair enough the clubs officials have to be optimistic, but I really do think that both sets of supporters are totally deluded, if they feel their teams are good enough for CL football.

My prediction;

Liverpool 8th, Everton 14th.
Sorry JR but I think you are the one who is deluded…

Your prediction of a 14th place finish stems from spite rather than the fact Everton have lost one game all season and had a great 2nd half against spurs.

Do you not think spurs passing it around through the midfield like Barca has a lot more to do with the fact they are a a really good team with a good manager rather than anything Roberto did?

Put your dummy back in you are showing yourself up.

He regrets leaving because it all went tits up.

Sunderland never accepted him? He Spunked millions on 2nd rate players and they are still recovering from it now.

Harrods my arse.

Injury problems aside, if used as a penalty area/6 yard box poacher I think he would be a good signing.
His 1 goal from open play this season & the own goal v Blackburn have shown that when in those areas he can make things happen.
Employed as a lone striker who appears to be expected to play with his back to goal, win the ball, hold it up, lay it off & then get into the penalty area & generally keeping 4 defenders occupied on his own, then I don’t think that he’ll ever work.
Norwich played to his strengths. Coyle seems to play to his weaknesses

It’s not often you talk much sense but you have give it a good go here.

Well Carson certainly ‘scares’ me when he attempts to deal with crosses !

I will take that over Benny Hill here.

You would think someone would tell him to stay in his box.

question for egg and slutty
can you name the irish rugby league and usa rugby league team ,if not then five players from each team
will do
also the teams they play for in their country and name of the leagues in the country
also could you tell me the current champions of both usa and irish rugby league
thank you

Egg has given you your answer.

How about now you tell me how many Wigan-born players have played for Wigan Athletic’s first team in a league fixture over the past 8 seasons?

And name them….
Why the past 8 seasons?

Talk about tailoring a question so you get the answer you want.

Scott Carson is set to be out for up to four weeks after his injury on Sunday.

With Prince Ali still our injured this is a fantastic opportunity for Nicholls to showcase his ability.

Meanwhile, back at the DW ranch, the talk is of Albrighton of Villa.

A pacy winger? Is that what we really need just now?

We need someone to lead the line. I must admit my thoughts keep turning to Kone.

Yes, I’d say it’s exactly what we need. McManaman, Gomez and McClean have all proven they’re not up to the job – for one reason or another, and what striker are we hoping to get on loan at this stage that would be any better than Holt, Fortune or Powell?

The strikers haven’t been getting the service, so if he can stay fit it’s a decent signing in my opinion.

As for Kone, I doubt Everton would let him go and I think Fortune is as good as him – especially at this level.
1. I’m sorry but I find it incredible that we cannot find a single striker in the Prem or any other top European league to join us on loan! It has to be down to the wages we’re willing to stump up, but for every week we don’t have a loanee and save a week’s wages we’re dropping points. Completely false economy esp. as Coyle himself has said he has money burning a hole in his pocket.

2. None of these wingers matter if we only ever play with 1 striker on the pitch (why did we loan out Dicko??)

3. And Fortune as good as Kone? Have you been smoking summat Standish??
Sorry to jump in on this but…

1. Prem or top European league? Wake up and smell the Championship! Why when we have Holt, Fortune and Powell all fit would having a 4th available striker when Coyle only starts with 1 suddenly mean we starting taking all 3 points?

2. Dicko isn’t out on loan….

3. Standish did say at this level. There is also the fact they have two completely different styles of play. Kone worked best for me when the ball is played into his feet so he could hold up play and bring others into the game.

We just don’t play that way anymore.

If Coyle is of the opinion (unfortunately everyone is entitled to them) that Mclean should be keeping Jeany B out of the side I wouldn’t slate him for giving Jeany a crack at LB. His crosses putting aside his other weaknesses are invaluable.

Except that LB in a 44 1 1 is just that and not a LWB – and Jeany proved last season and reaffirmed early on this season that he can’t defend for toffee.
What I want to know is what exactly does McLean offer? Seems like a new Koumas but crapper at dribbling.
Yes a LB is a LB and GK’s wear gloves, keep up.

Crainey is static in his play so depending on if our opponents have a decent RW where he would be put under pressure he could get forward and overlap Mclean to put in a cross.

As I said the above is on the basis that Coyle is shagging Mcleans mum as Jeany B’s 2 or 3 crosses are worth more than 90 mins of Mcleans fannying about IMO.

From what I have seen though our full backs don’t offer enough support to our wingers we have a very stringent back four.

If you sell one player to Everton for 6 million and sign nearly a full team and still have a million left you ain’t going to get a team of world beaters. The QPR game will show just how good we are

We sold two if you include the later departed James McCarthy.
Sorry I take this back. I must have dreamed McCarthy leaving for £13m.

According to Skysports he missed a sitter yesterday…

http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/292809/report

“James McCarthy then blazed over from the edge of the box, Watson fired wastefully wide and Holt’s goalbound shot was blocked by Wood, leaving Charlton more grateful for the point by the end.”
