I love both sports and know a lot about both. In my experience, Rugby fans know about as much about football as football fans do.

    Wrong and wrong.

    Espinoza MOTM for me too.

Al Habsi made some good saves and I thought Boyce had a cracker at CB.

Wigan to go on another cup run? I can see us drawing City tomorrow but if we do I think they will be far too much for is in their current form.

No more loan players for me, if we get promoted we`ll have no players to put a team out next season when all the loanees return to their parent clubs. Imagine, Uwe would basically have to buy a new team putting them together to keep us in the premiership doesn’t seem the right thing for me we`ll be at a disadvantage straight from the start.

    Yes IF we get promoted.

IF we do get promoted he will need to start from scratch anyway. Those who don’t invest heavily in a new team inevitably get relegated.

    He’s only going on loan!

Let’s hope that Lambert finds a constructive role for him and decides to take him on a permanent transfer. Otherwise, we will be lumbered with Holt and his high wages for two more years.

The wages of Coyle’s signings have already crippled Wanderers. Let’s hope they don’t do the same to Wigan.

I doubt the CEO would have let wages get out of hand. They’re Coyle’s signings, but he didn’t look after the financial aspects of those deals.
You’re right in the sense they wouldn’t let it get out of hand in terms of putting the club in financial crisis but if we are stuck with him and it isn’t working out for whatever reason then we wont be able to sign someone in his place until his contract runs down …

With Rosler insisting he wants to play a high pressure front line I don’t think Holt is ever going to fit into that role at this time in his career where there is a blatant lack of pace in his game.

Wish him all the best though. If he finds his goal scoring form playing in a front two then we will get a fee for him and he will be enjoying his football again which is a win for both of us.

Sorry I forgot this thread was full of breaking news and things that people really give a f*ck about

You can still get 40/1 on Everton winning the league.

Its like groundhog day every time I come on this board!!!

I think a Cockneylatic new years resolution should be for everyone to move on from Roberto Martinez.

We have a new manager with a very exciting tactical approach that seems to have hit the ground running. Lets concentrate on that ffs!

in reply to: How Long Before “Bottom Four Bob” #125191

He’s done it again – Top Four Bob wins at Swansea!

Excellent result to beat another CL rival like the mighty Swansea, pity he didn’t take his last match against Swansea as seriously.
Are these yours??

If I was Roberto I would be looking into restraining orders right about now as lostcock has been whistling his tune non stop since he left.

Cheers but was after paying on the door. I rang Hillsbrough and no pay on the door for away fans sadly.

Looks like I will be spending some quality time with the woman instead

in reply to: Rosler’s first XI in a 4-3-3 #124769

Martinez always played wing backs to an extent.

even when we played 4-3-3 he wanted the full backs to get up the field and become part of the midfield.

It became quickly apparent that we didnt have the players to pull this Barcelona type formation off so a back 3 gave us more defensive cover for the full backs to push up.

The 4-3-3 system that we started with is what is being used at Everton nowadays and plenty has been said on how well that is working with quality CB’s such as Jagielka.

Rosler may find similar problems with a back four in his reign but the fact we are not facing some of the best attackers in the world and we have a much better and bigger selection of CB’s than was ever available to Martinez this time around might just work in our favour.

in reply to: Uwe Rosler, new manager #124444

Whelan is out saying Rosler is mad keen to be our next manager.

I usually dont mind the majority of Whelans antics as its good to have a Chairman who keeps us in the loop but coming out with stuff like that at this stage is out of order imo.

Painfully true Filmoss. Same Philosophy, Similar tactics but far better players! Lukaku, Barry, Barkley, Baines, Jagielka and Howard all look like world beaters at the moment.

Yes okay, better players; but if you consider the “mini league” at the lower half of the Prem, then surely we had a good enough team to finish above the bottom three. Maybe it’s a league of contrasting styles, cos I seem to recall that we looked better against classier opposition and failed miserably to beat the average teams. I think I’ve hit the nail on the head; Bobby had one style. Had he been more adaptable then we might have survived.
You agree Everton have a far superior team then go on to say why its all Martinez’s styles fault….

Just what this thread needs some more illogical anti Martinez rhetoric.

We could of never got Martinez and hired someone like Coyle. How long do you think we would of lasted with his “style”? We certainly wouldn’t have one of the strongest squads in the Championship this season…..

I don’t know why I am even bothering to try and defend him any more.. I am quite frankly bored to death of the subject. Roll on Ian Holloway.

in reply to: Who would you like as the new manager??? #124378

    Ian Holloway.

I laughed at the though of him replacing Martinez but 6 months under Coyle really puts things in to perspective. For all of Holloways supposed short comings he plays attacking entertaining football and I would rather lose and play good football than win watching pub team football.

Plus I think he would genuinely want the job rather than seeing it as a stop gap/stepping stone.
