Better keep my ticket under lock and key by the sound of things!
No – he approached me and started the conversation.Did you ask him how he got his ticket?
Reminds me of a few years ago at the Emirates when I got talking to this lad who asked “where do Wigan play?” (remember this was in the Wigan end!). I said “Wigan”. “Where is that?” So I explain the usual near Manchester bit. “Oh I am a long-time supporter of Wigan. I am from Iceland”.He then asked if it would be easy to get tickets to watch us play at home. I reassured him he’d be OK. :D
His banter was most likely well rehearsed. His insurance policy should he end up in conversation with somebody.

At the end more or less all the players who’d started the match were dead on their feet, including West Ham’s. I though Watson was outstanding yesterday and has the ability to produce that killer pass. Diame ran him a close second. The star of the show was undoubtedly N’Zogbia. It’s inevitable he’ll go in the summer regardless of which division we’re in but I wonder if being a squad player in a more “fashionable” club would suit him. He’s temperamental and moody and if he’s not a regular starter I can see him spitting out his dummy. For some players it’s better to be a big fish in a small pond than the other way round. Money talks however so he’ll be off.
Sitting opposite the East Stand it was noticeable that quite a few people left after West Ham’s second goal went in. Even more inexplicable was people leaving with 10 minutes still to play. I mean, what is the point of going to a football match and a) leaving after just 30 minutes, and b) leaving a pulsating end-to-end match, which could have gone either way, with 10 minutes left. Can’t get my head around that one.
I said to a girl who was crying her eyes out that we would win 3-2 her dad didnt think soI think quite a few people said the same thing at half-time and, like you, didn’t really believe it.
1 massive Olympic Stadium. Would suit Premier League club, or similar.Contact D Gold, Upton Park, London.
Spurs might be interested.
After 55 minutes my mate says to me, “I’m going to put my glasses on. We always play better when I put my glasses on”.*
The rest is history. Now he’s not going to Stoke but me and his glasses are!
* He’s at an age where the wearing of glasses for long distance clarity is not yet a necessity.
He is dead then?
Well they’ve dumped him into the sea off one of their ships – so if he wasn’t, then I’ll bet he is now.[/quote]
Well we’ve only got their word on that. Might not even be him.
Remember, they told us they’d been to the moon!!!
Who did he play for?An amusing reply Griff but sort of lost it’s effect since being moved to the non-football section.
He is dead then?
Will be doing a feature on Saturday, is anybody interested in being on camera/being interviewed? If so list your names here and I will PM you the time and place
For future reference if you’re looking for a screen test I happened to (only just) make it on to MOTD on Saturday night, after Diame’s goal.
And what if it did happen? Some people conveniently forget where we used to be and seem to think it’s now OK to come over all Billy Big B0llucks and patronise teams who not very long ago were our at our level.
I find it incredible that a pro footballer can’t deliver a decent cross from a dead ball position, but it is amazing how many can’t.With respect to corners the idea is to hit them hard and low and use the pace of the ball to provide a worthwhile headed attempt on goal. That’s the tricky bit because there’s little margin for error so they either don’t clear the first defender or fly over the top. I don’t think Ben Watson is any worse at this skill than many of his fellow professionals.
