Whelans played a blinder here. Never made sense from the beginning.
Whelan wanted out and was getting desperate so we joined the ranks of the dodgy owners club.
Best – The impressive blue sky, the walks and the enjoyment gained from the awareness and beauty of the natural world around us, plus my staying at home convincing me that I will enjoy my impending retirement.
Worst – Trying to avoid serious injury from the Bradley Wiggins wannabes who think windy roads with no pavements are a race track exclusive to themselves, knob heads discarding disposable BBQs whilst still red hot and setting fire to the countryside and missing the run in to the end of the season.
The likes of him and others, Katie Hopkins for example, make a living out of being deliberately controversial. Best ploy is totally ignore them and not react in any way to anything they say.
China are to blame end of and the sooner they are held accountable the better have you actually seen these wet markets in China absolutely disgustingGood luck with that one. You’ve more chance of Mexico paying for that wall.
It is generally accepted that the “Spanish Flu” pandemic that killed maybe 100 million people – mainly fit, young and middle aged – at the end of the First World War originated in America. If we are looking for reparations then America should also be brought to account for that. The Chinese will eat anything that moves and the local markets are grim, dirty, stinking places teeming with live animals so no need for conspiracy theories while this continues. Trying to change the culture of a nation with 1.5 billion people is not going to happen even with Chinese government intervention.
assured me he went to Newcastle in 54!Did he go on the train?
Some of you are now beginning to sound like PC bumming up the opposition before we’ve played them. Luton are bottom of the league because that’s where they deserve to be.There is not one player in their team that I would swap for one of ours, so let’s keep confident, let’s prove we are better than the league table suggests and let’s smash um on satdy.
No doubt we’ll give Graeme Jones a rousing reception and one-nil down with five minutes to go he’ll make a tactical substitution, score two goals and win.
It’s Latics way of doing things.Says it will be his biggest achievement in management if he keeps the Tics up this season, well a bigger achievement and being a bigger man would be Cook owning up to all the cock ups he’s made with shocking substitutions and tactics which has got us in this mess in the first place, but he won’t.I’m quite sure Cook is well aware of the mistakes he’s made and equally sure admitting to them in the public domain serves no useful purpose other than to give the likes of you and others on here an even bigger stick to beat him with.
That Charlton result is an absolute killer, but we should have won last night.
Only as much as the win at Leeds was a killer to them.
I don’t doubt that
The difference is we’re playing catch-up.
I was ready for walking out when Gelhardt was subbed off.
Somehow, tonight was typical Latics
Why? What exactly did Gelhardt contribute?
He was no better, or worse, than anyone else up to that point, apart from playing in Robinson in the 1st half. But as we were on top I had visions of him linking up with More to win the game. I never expected the subs to have such a dramatic effect, why would I after this season so far?
Credit where credits due, the subs worked, Jacobs looked fresh, Lowe scored, we held on.
The booing when Gelhardt was subbed was totally unnecessary and unwarranted. More importantly it does the lad no favours whatsoever and only adds the pressure that has already been placed on his clearly self-evident, inexperienced shoulders.
I’m thinking the opposite on this. To be fair the lad only had a handful of touches most of them being productive, the jinking run in the box, the sublime pass to Robinson, the run from the corner when he was scythed down just outside the box. He probably felt himself that he had not really imposed himself on the game, so the reaction from the crowd when he was subbed must have made him feel that his contribution had been appreciated.
Listening to Cook’s post match interview he more a less said that it was planned to give him 60 mins and then bring Jacobs on. Why would that be when he doesn’t know what impact the lad was having on the game. He could have scored two and be trying for his hat trick but he would have still brought him off it seems. It’s either that or he was looking for an excuse as to why he brought him off following the crowds reaction.
It’s very nice to have the crowd on your side but with it comes a great deal of expectation which can have a negative effect. I thought at times he was trying too hard by running at players, because that’s what the fans expect him to do, and getting caught. It’s sad indictment of where we’re at when the challenge of staying in this league is resting on the performances, good or indifferent, of an untried 17 year old.

If a player is good enough and worth his place in the team a competent manager is one who has the ability to handle a bad attitude and change a poor temperament.
So you’d pick a player who has a reputation of being good but either doesn’t turn up to training, or only trains half-heartedly, mouths off all the time over someone who turns up every day enthusiastically and works their hearts out?
Preferably not but it depends how good he is I suppose.
Then again he’s not the only player Cook seems to have had issues with.If a player is good enough and worth his place in the team a competent manager is one who has the ability to handle a bad attitude and change a poor temperament.
I am not saying we would have won but if we had of had some of the missing players in our side and played some of the football we’ve
played of late I’m dam sure we would have give them a game.Although they looked good they didn’t rip up any trees
Predictable response from someone expecting us to lose and not being disappointed even though we put up a good show.
And you fully expected us to win with missing players and 1 win away since Noah ??, ffs m8 click your red shoes and say “Theres no place like home” 3 times and wake up Dorothy
No, I didn’t expect us to win but we did “give them a game” even without the missing players, whoever they may have been. You can’t resist having a dig can you despite a good performance against a strong top three Premier League team.
