I still have to be convinced about Grigg. He needs too many chances to score, lacks close control and is too lightweight to play the lone striker role.
The deficiencies are there to see. I expect them to be sort out this month.
He scored with his first chance last night ;)
I get you though. Point is, if he scored every time he wouldn’t play for Wigan or be in League One.
I’m not expecting him to be scoring in every game and I’m not just talking about the chances he missed in last night’s game. From what I’ve seen of him so far and allowing for the fact he’s a League One striker, he misses far too many good, clear cut opportunities .
And for the record, I’m certainly not blaming him for last night’s debacle even though he did miss that easy chance at 3-1.All their goals came down our right side.
For the first we had Wildschut on the right wing who doesn’t track back plus Daniels who had a mare and Barnett as the right-sided CB.
For the second Jacobs, equally inept at tracking back, had swapped with Wildschut so the problem hadn’t been addressed.
James comes on for Barnett so they shift the back four across to accommodate him because we don’t have a CB on the bench and the third goes in.Also, at 3-1 Widschutt, then on the left, sets up Grigg who for the third time squanders a clear-cut chance to put the game out of reach.

Very disappointing not to win that game after being 3-0 up with just over 20 minutes to go even though we were playing with 10 men for the entire game.
Who is the missing player you refer to?
I’m surprised you ask. Describing him as a liability is being kind.
First half he was shockingly bad, calamitous.. But thought he wasn’t as bad in the second half.
Jacobs didn’t do much tonight, can only recall one good cross from him and that was with a little help from the ref. so thought you might have been referring to him.
He contributes nothing and is an accident waiting to happen. And this isn’t just a one off it’s every game he plays.

I didn’t watch this so I don’t know on which side of the fence Le Tissier was sitting. Sky has effectively devalued this competition to the point where PL clubs regard it as an unwelcome intrusion into the business of avoiding the real possibility of financial oblivion. Le Tissier is old enough to understand the significance of the FA Cup so I hope he was suggesting that we would rightly have taken winning the cup over relegation.
At this moment Newcastle fans would take staying in the PL above winning the cup. Their perception is that Newcastle is a PL club and that is where they should be. They’ve won the cup before so to win it again doesn’t carry the same significance as a team, from such a humble background, winning it for the first time.
So I pose another question. At the start of that season if you were offered winning the FA Cup but being relegated and losing the manager to an established PL club and you took that option then it is shameful hypocrisy to then criticise the subsequent actions of the manager that made it possible.
Take your tie off Samantha and take a day off! Put something casual on and go for a pint or a walk or something! :)
You seem to be paying me an inordinate amount of attention on here of late.

I think some of you are posting on the wrong forum.
Football related, so OK here
I think you should offer another category called “Samaritans” for those who have difficulty moving on from past events.
Does that mean we are not allowed to talk about our FA cup glory a couple of years back? :( ;)
We don’t discuss this enough. Instead some prefer to talk about how badly a previous manager who actually won the thing is doing at another club.
It’s what you call keeping things topical :cheer:
Change the record. It’s worn and played out!
So as yours, the record will continue to play as long I or anyone else, wants to play it. If you don’t want to continue the discussions, butt out, its as easy as that. ;)
So it would appear but I’m not the one that keeps bringing up the Martinez topic and boring us all to death. As for butting out you need to be reminded occasionally how pathetic this stalking of a former manager really is, almost as pathetic as trying to argue that despite the town experiencing the worst flooding in decades over a holiday weekend with the emergency services flat out you think arrangements should have been made to ensure a football match takes place.
Or was it a wind-up!
Nice deflection Samantha, I saw what you did there, very clever! ;)
I thought you might chime in when wind-up was mentioned!
This topic needs to be deflected anyway.A Happy New Year to you and all my “friends” on here. :)

Fair enough some good points there.
Reckon the fleetwood game will be ok no rain forecast so should be on tomorrow.
3-0 LaticsJust out of curiosity what might those good points be?
Has this been confirmed by either club or is it just another example of media bullshit. Given their current form he’s not likely to get in the Middlesbrough side and even if he did chances are he won’t be as effective against Championship opposition. So if Middlesbrough aren’t going to use him why would they want him back?
