I heard that in the summer Mackay wanted to sign Wanyama from Celtic but the chairman stopped the deal going through when he learnt that Wanyama was born in the year of the snake – which is deemed to be unlucky in Malaysia.

      Should have walked then Malky.

Dismissing the fact that for 100 years Cardiff played in blue and are called “The Bluebirds” he also changed the club colours to red because in his culture it is considered a lucky colour.

Superstition seem firmly entrenched in his psyche and he most likely believes that has played a large part in him amassing his fortune. If that is the case then no one is going to convince him otherwise.

Will your tickets be valid for the rearranged game?

Why do you need to know this?

Good to see the town getting due recognition. Those who represented the town, be they from Wigan or not, have achieved something that will live long in the memories of every Wiganer.

Those who did actually represent the town do deserve recognition but why give it to those that haven’t.

Sir Bradley has been seen riding his push rod through Platt Bridge, Marsh Green and past the Crooked Wheel so in my opinion that makes him a Wiganer

            push rod?

You can perhaps make them fitter but one of them will always be useless.

Even though they had to have Bradley Wiggins sticking his oar in and making false claims that he lives in Wigan.

I didn’t notice any trouble in The South Stand. Must have been an enthralling game.

I suppose he got thrown out for not sitting down? A hanging offence in my view (pun intended).

Chris Hutchings was sacked by DW after just 12 premiership games.

Roberto Martinez lost eight consecutive Premier League games and wasn’t sacked and still wasn’t sacked the season after that when Wigan Athletic were relegated.

You’re going back a number of years there with your comparisons. The game has changed considerably since then in all departments.

Generally the football we played under Coyle was poor and the defending in particular naïve so I expect things to improve, which shouldn’t be too difficult a task given the players we have at our disposal – strikers excluded.

Another thing we need to sort out is our corners. Many times this season, we’ve seen Gomez and Watson unable to beat the first man with their corners and – worse – the opposition breaking away and scoring.

Ah, the old “we’re shit at corners” observation. Whilst I don’t believe Gomez and Watson are particularly exceptional at taking corners they are no worse than anybody else. The trick is to fire the ball in hard and flat and the tried and tested way to counteract that is to put a man or two on the front post, thus making the margin of error in achieving this very fine indeed. I’m sure most, if not all, professional footballers are quite capable of kicking a ball into the opposing penalty box from a corner every single time. I’m equally sure supporters would soon find something to moan about when those nice looping efforts are easily dealt with by defenders and goalkeepers.

Counter attacking from a corner was never an Owen Coyle philosophy so I am expecting things to improve.

Thought Roger Espinoza was MoM for us.

Is there something about Roger Espinoza’s footballing skills I’m not seeing?

I remember one game at the Woodhouse End when there was no one within about ten feet of him because he’d found a patch of slutch to jump up and down in.

The root cause of our current predicament starts with BOB. He should have been man enough to stay and sort it out. Judas !

I have it on very good authority that Whelan was about to sack him anyway because he’d got us relegated.

There, does that make you feel better?

There are certain things in life that are not meant to be; things that are instinctively not right. The pairing of Owen Coyle and Wigan Athletic falls into this category. Of all the managers we’ve had I just couldn’t take to him and every time he came off the bench, usually to shout at players, the thought always was, who is this imposter and what is he doing down there. The answer was not very much.
