I – Izzy??
Yes, I know he had a surname as well, but to me he was always just Izzy.
Sounds like a penguin-style cartoon character to me.
I can see it all happening again. An epic semi-final win followed by a glorious day out for the final, marred only by the game itself.
David Lowe’s overhead kick against Brentford inth Freight Rover Final?
It was so good, I even forgave the bloke in charge of the scoreboard for his inability to spell Athletic.
It should be one big-Bobby-love-fest.
Does anyone really think he’s got the brains to make a decision for himself?
All I’ve seen over the last few days is his Agent pushing Rooney one direction so that the Agent himself gets a shedload of dosh, then Ferguson finally convincing him to stay where he is and not be a t**t.
Given the form he’s in though, I can see him being out on loan next season.
Good on yer Lidds.
Great news.Hope Kirkland is back and keeps his place. I’m not at all convinced by Al Habsi.I may be misreading this as a serious post when there’s a degree of sarcasm intended, but I have to disagree. Ali has been far better than Kirkland of late in my small mind.
Just read the story, and although I can’t make the ‘do’, was happy to contribute to a fellow ‘Tics mon.
I like the bloke who said that they’ll end up as a mid-table team. I would have thought that was more of an aspiration than anything at present.
Its how he has all this top-class tottie that gets me.
Don’t they realise how ugly and dull the man is, and how much more educated, charming, witty and just all-round gorgeous I am?
Still no reasonable response to how dire the game was.Second half slight improvement but still dire, boring and a pathetic performance.
We played Wolves who had 10 men and we were awful.
Our crowds have gone down due to the pathetic boring football we play. The new supporters would return if the team had some fight about them.
Some of your points are correct. However do you really think that the rest of the Premier League is fantastic to watch, and that only Wigan are boring?
Most of the clubs from the top few down are not very entertaining and simply want to get points by whatever means they can.
It’s often the fans that make the difference to the level of excitement at their stadium, not the teams, and unfortunately we seem to have a higher percentage of whingers than most.
From the photograph, I’d have thought he should have declared clinically insane rather than bankrupt.
Spookier and spookier Griff. I was a Hindley Green lad as well – Hawthorn Avenue, near Long Lane. My haunts were the Clay Hole, playing fields at Mornington Road school and of course the baths.

Well, well. Kenilworth Drive – backing onto Mornington Road school – just t’other side of Long Lane. A Titus Bramble cross-field pass from where you were.Did you go to Sacred Heart, then?
I feel a PM coming on. :)
My elder brother went to Sacred Heart, but for some reason I was packed off to St Mary’s on Standishgate. I was made to go to Sacred Heart church on a Sunday. My folks thought I was being a good lad, but I just had the hots for a couple of girls who went. Never got me anywhere though.
Just read Griff’s story. A lad of Catholic upbringing, raised in Hindley, married twice, a first son called Alex and a Latics fan throughout other than a slight wobble with ManYoo??? All this applies to me as well. Are you my alter ego?
Hindley Green please Shorty, not Hindley, let’s get it right :)
But if the rest checks out that is indeed spooky. Even spookier if that first game was either City away in the cup or Peterborough at home in the cup – I can never remember which came first.
First game was 0-0 against Matlock though. For some reason I was hooked after that.
