This was the first season watching Latics for me as well, but my Mam wouldn’t let me go to City. She reckoned I’d get beaten up, kidnapped, rodgered or all three, and she was probably right.

        I’m just saying we’re a bit unpredictable, that’s all.

I think they still have to appear in court for some reason or other (the Chairman not being elligible to take them into administration or murder or such).

Assume that there’s still a chance they may not be even allowed to go into administration if that’s the case, so maybe the Prem are waiting to see what happens in court.

            1. What’s your favourite food/drink?

            2. What would you have done if you hadn’t had a career in football?

            3. What’s your most embarrassing football moment?

Well, he needs a bit of a respite at some point otherwise the poor bugger won’t bother turning up.

Would be nice if we took a half decent following on Saturday.

I’m coming up on my own from Wintery Wiltshire on the train, but have never been to St Andrews. Is it easy to get to from Birmingham New Street?

I’ll be there, but then I live about 5 miles from St Andrews. The ground is about a mile and a bit from New Street, and fairly easy to get to. Just ask someone that’s not wearing a Villa shirt for directions.

Word of warning. The streets the ‘other’ side of the ground make Ince look like Mayfair.

Sorry all. It looks as though my posting yesterday that I reckon WH were relegation candidates was bad timing given what they did last night.

I’ll put one in a similar vein before the Notlob game about us. Should do the trick.

I agree with what you say and strongly believe Notts deserve to be through to the 5th round. I think they’ll take a good following to Fulham and really give it a go but if we had got through we’d have taken around 200 to Fulham and maybe played a weakened side.

I think Scotland did OK, should have buried that chance in the 1st half and I believe that would have totally changed the outcome of the game. He had a good shot and good header saved well in the 2nd half.

Stojkovic had a good game, 1 stupid save in the 1st half which he could have easily caught but was tested on more than 1 occasion and made 2 or 3 good saves.

I thought Bramble, Scharner, Koumas and Gomez were absolutely awful, an absolute joke of a performance by those 4 and Bramble should never wear that captains armband again.

Boyce, Figueroa, Diame, Sinclair and Caldwell were all poor BUT Sinclair had a few decent runs and touches, Diame was the only player who looked like creating anything, Caldwell didn’t do much wrong individually but he was part of the defence that conceded 2 goals against league 2 opposition, Boyce and Figueroa were below usual standards.

As for Martinez, I will defend him to a certain extent because he rested McCarthy, Thomas, N’Zogbia and Rodallega due to the game we have at the weekend (far more important than the cup game for me). He obviously thought we could beat Notts without them as we all expected and gave an opportunity for the likes of Sinclair, Koumas, Gomez, Scotland, etc to prove their worth to the team but all failed to do anything in my eyes.

I am looking forward to Saturday as we have reacted well to poor results in the past and the 9-1 tonking at Spurs was followed by Sunderland now we have an embarrasing cup result followed by a game at Sunderland. I hope Moreno gets his work permit before Saturday and Moses starts as I believe we need 2 forwards to liven up the team and start scoring goals. You don’t win games unless you score goals and with Scotland in the team partnered by Hugo (who’s form of late has been awful) we aren’t looking good with our only threat being N’Zogbia.

We have had a good transfer window, much better than the teams around us and the likes of Sunderland so we must now concentrate on the league which is our main priority and ensure we move up the table and don’t look down. I am quietly confident we can win on Saturday and hopefully kick start our season with a bit of consistency.

                    2-1 Wigan!

Good post that mon. A win on Saturday, a good team performance, and some new blood in the team, and last night will be forgotten.

Can I be the first to make the comments about him leading us to the promised land, or how opposition defences will just part in front of him.

Bobby of course; if only for the reason he’s a pin-up boy, whereas Brucie is a gargoyle.

A teaser from the article I’m putting together (which has plaguerism written all over it!!):

‘Geoff Davies signed for Latics in the summer of 1970 for a reported £800.00p from Northwich Vics.

He scored no less that five hat-tricks within the first three months of signing and ended up with 42 goals that season (1970/71) with Gordon Milne, Derek Temple, Jim Fleming and Graham Oates providing the ammunition as Latics powered their way to the Northern Premier League title.

He went on to have spells at Chester, Wrexham, Port Vale and Wimbledon

I think that would really have been £800 0s 0d.

I didn’t like the way he kept chatting with Lampard and Terry, but to give him his credit, he didn’t bottle the difficult decisions. Unlike 3-4 years ago.

He is becoming a really fat git through isn’t he?
