Isn’t this a brilliant thread – so far from the “I went to Goole Town and the rest are JCLs” line we often hear here.
Easier for them to ensure neither we nor Millwall get this far again
I went to the England-Spain game a few years ago, and it was about £8 for the “pie and a pint” deal
They sell tickets openly to anyone, without being on the database, for EVERY game except a few higher profile games. That’s how you get on the database. Turn up against Swansea, or Fulham, or whenever there’s an offer.
TBH If someone is not on the database, having been at least to one game that hasn’t involved Liverpool or United in the past few years, then I think they are hardly going to be the people who will be attracted to come more often. Ten times zero is still zero.
With 25,000 tickets for the Final, should we get there I have an option. It’s called a season ticket :)
Crackin’ thread this – makes for interesting reading! And this is how we will grow our support, and in fact HAVE grown our support. A factor that most pundits/lazy journos etc fail to see – a lot of us started out not by going to Goole Town in 1825, but by moving away from the boredom of the bigger names that surround us.
I was born and raised in Liverpool and was brought up a Red. Had a Kop season ticket, went to away games regularly, was in Rome when the first European Cup was won in 1977.
We moved out to Garswood around that time and with one thing and another went only rarely back to Anfield. Went to a few Latics games for something to do on a Saturday – was at Goodison in 1980 for example.
When my son started to be of an age to watch football regularly (even though for Xmas and so on he got Liverpool kits as presents) it was difficult to take him to Anfield, so as they say, we supported our local team. We went more and more regularly until we were no longer missing games.
My son started selling programmes, my duaghter was a ball-girl, and I started stewarding. Over the years thoughts of Liverpool drifted away, but the Universes were never supposed to collide.
I knew the transformation was complete though when, in the first season in the Premier League, I was interviewed by Sky Sports outside the away Anfield Road end, wearing blue and white, and talking about “our” chances against Liverpool.
The Liverpool I used to support is dead anyway – it’s no longer the same club, and I haven’t ever for one moment regretted supporting what is now my local team.
Is there another word for “thesaurus”?
If, God forbid, we lose against Millwall, I will have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who has chosen not to go the semi because they are saving themselves for Wembley – whatever the reason.
Very harsh of you Mr Griff[/quote]
You sometimes have to be cruel to be kind.
That’s what I was always told, as I got a belt round the ear.
Do you ever post about something other that Warriors? No he doesn’t :(
I’ve just been accused of being ‘a plagiarist’! Their words, not mine.
I am still of the opinion a Worriers fan should have no moderating powers on a Latics board.
The basic requirement is that they are a Latics fan. All those with moderating powers are that.
There is nothing further to discuss on the matter in my opinion.
Decent although it claims we are running at a loss but didn’t we make a profit last year?If you look at the date of the link it’s February 2012. Bit lazy.
Is he still alive?
