Why must he have been dreading it?
If it had been at Swansea he would have got a fair bit of abuse, but even so he wouldn’t have dreaded it.
For a Premier manager, yes even ours, a home tie against lower division opponents is preferable to drawing say Man United away.
Point away to Brum is not to be sniffed at.
Let’s hope he doesn’t do it again :(
I thought it was about cake stuff eaten on Bonfire Night
And if I’m right in thinking, it was a screamer of a winner from about 30 yards scored by that McDonald chap who has just been replaced by Houlier at Villa.
Jesus Seba had a stormer along with Graham Lancashire.
No, it wasn’t Kevin McDonald, who’s been at Villa.
It was NEIL McDonald, former Everton and Newcastle defender. Last seconds of the game, to put us out on away goals. Jesus Seba had lost the ball trying to play the attacking ball, rather than playing for time in the corner. They got possession, went forward, and got the goal. Graham Lancashire scored a hat-trick that night.[/quote]
Sure it was away goals?
We lost the first leg 2-3, but at 90 minutes we were leading 4-3, so level on aggregate.
Under later rules we would have won on away goals, but the rules at the time were that if scores were level on aggregate an extra 30 minutes were played, and only after that did away goals count.
They as you said scored in the last seconds to win on aggregate 7-6.
The Dalai Lama has a gambling problem though.
He loves Tibet.
I’ll get me coat.
I think I’d rather our fans got behind our team, and not care about who is or isn’t Chairman of their club. With all due respect Garswood,
Im sure we could spare a few minutes of the 90 abusing him!Oh – OK – just a bit though ;)
How about a few choruses of.`Lindsay is a w@nk3r`…………..
Just to show him what fans of a `lovely little club` really think of him
I think I’d rather our fans got behind our team, and not care about who is or isn’t Chairman of their club.
Can I suggest you look on the club site, under “tickets”?
For the hard of thinking the relevant bit is:
“The level of unpredictability is increased by the fact that Argentina stages two separate championships a year, in which the 20 teams play each other once. The shorter the season, the greater the chance of a surprise.
Largely to protect the big clubs from a bad campaign, relegation is worked out on an average of points accumulated over three years, or six championships.
This helps explain the bizarre position in which River Plate find themselves.
The Buenos Aires giants have more domestic titles than anyone else and are in contention this time. On Sunday, they lost 1-0 away to Newells Old Boys. A win would have left them on top of the table. As it is, they lie sixth, only two points behind the leaders.
Yet River Plate are also in danger of relegation. Bad results for two years mean they entered this campaign with a noose around their neck. Next May, two clubs will go down automatically and two more will go into the play-offs. Using this average of points picked up since the 2008/09 season, River are in 18th position, third from bottom.”
I think St Helens should have chosen to play River Plate.
Got my ticket on Sunday.
The chances actually are moderately low that they won’t.
You only need a group of 20 people to have more than a 50/50 chance that two have the same birthday, and at 40 or so in the group it is highly probable that two will have the same birthday.
To set a specific date obviously sets limits, but it is quite possible that two people on here out of 1,000 have a birthday on 30 August.
On a wet and slippy pitch even the most mentally challenged can see that you get the ball low and hard into the opponent’s area, particularly if you can make them turn, and take your chances from there.
And what do we do? Play tipi-tapi from the back (and at corners) putting ourselves under pressure. Did we have a shot on target??
There are times when “hoof” is the right game to play. Today was such a day.
Why did it take us 5 minutes to get Moses on, when he was stripped and ready to come on?
It gave the impression that we didn’t know what we were doing – we didn’t have a plan – we were dithering.
And I know they’re only trivia but sending e-mails to those who’ve renewed tickets, and announcer saying our next game is against Wolves (not PNE) gives an overall impression (to us as loyal supporters as to anyone) that we as a club just aren’t in control and have no idea what’s going on.
And that annoys and frustrates me immensely.
Come on Latics – sort it out on field and off, and give us back a club to be proud of. I’m really not that bothered if we go down – if we go down with honour, having shown some fight. This is just abysmal surrender.
