The Official Supporetrs Club say that more details will hit their website sometime tomorrow afternoon….. looks like the gun has been jumped by the Evening Post.
If details are released to them any sooner they will obviously let us know as soon as it happens.
Bolton will be sucked back into it in a couple of weeks, them and West Ham have some seriously big games.
How about his fro a revolutionary thought.
The money dragged in by TV is filtered to all the teams in the Football Leagues, maybe even further than that.
How about every team in the Premier League gets the same amount of money, remember this doesn’t include the sponsorship deals done by the clubs. The rest can filter down the leagues to make sure that Chester, Accrington, Bury etc doesn’t happen.
This could in turn develop more English talent and therefore help the national team. Some of these players forget their roots when they’re earning big bucks, I can’t beleive a few of the ex-players couldn’t club together £26,000 to save Chester.
Let the players agents earn their crust with the personal sponsorship and the clubs on merchandise etc…
Yes the players provide the entertainment, but not to the extent that it sacrifices the Club and the game – some clubs are operating a 85%+ of income in wages, ask anybody in business if that is sustainable.
I am just airing thoughts because something has to be done….
You have to remember that at the beginning of this season he – on paper – had a good squad to pick from.
It was only after the season started that he realised that the promise shown from Koumas, Cho, King, Cattermole, de Ridder, Kapo, Bouaouzan, Edman and Watson in preseason was to completely let him down once the season was underway by the players not being able to cope with his system or decided at the last minute that they wanted away.
That is 9 players that were in his plans but found that he needed to replace or loan them out to get the experience he wanted them to have. I think it is not far short of a miracle we aren’t in a worse league position than Portsmouth after having all that to contend with – playing a new system with 21 players at your disposal, but ending up with just 12.
You get more than your fair share on here, but they are massively outweighed by the good ‘uns on here….
Quite Ironically, a lot more of the good ‘uns just look but don’t post… there would be a much better feel to the place if they started posting.
As for the new guy knockers, just ignore them, they will one day realise that this site is for all Wigan Athletic fans, not just for the old boys… there isn’t a clique, nor will one be created….
Explain!
If you want to meet that winning team, they’ll be at the DW next month

To be fair the insulting bits were deleted as they were not necessary.
First place I saw ’em gig….

Whilst it is correct that Jack Walker was a true fan of Blackburn (and a gentleman to boot according to my father who was a director of a Blackburn company for thirty odd years), and Whelan probably invested in Wigan Athletic for egotistical or business reasons, Walker’s legacy to Blackburn is not an ongoing fairytale.
Bear in mind that nobody envisaged the future meteoric rise of the English game back in the early nineties. The average player’s salary is now over £1 million, and Blackburn’s English record of £6 million (Sutton) for a player is small change these days. That can’t exactly be attributed to inflation.
Sorry for posting a link but..according to the Guardian link below, Walker spent £97 million of his own money on Rovers. Whelan has spent at least £60 million of his own money which isn’t bad for a non-fan.
You’ll also see in the article that Walker’s funding has now run out.

Whelan, the man is a toad. Whelan the football club chairman however, is the reason the club is in the Premier League – no matter which way you look at it. Who else would have invested that amount of money in Wigan Athletic at the time?
It’s not a case of rose tinted glasses; it’s appreciation. Until I win the Euro Lottery rollover jackpot four times and have sufficient money to buy the club and bankroll it, I’ll be thankful of Whelan.
If he did sell up, and take as much money as he could with him, could you blame him? I bet his office has not exactly been inundated with letters of gratitude over recent years.
60 million!.WHERE,S THE LAST 5 YRS PREMIER LEAGUE TV REVENUE GONE :?: [/quote]
Wages, and a damn more besides….It takes nearly £50,000,000 per year to employ the most basic if staff.
Our players wages alone 2007-2008 was £48,000,000…..
It’s a lot more now……
Wake up, smell the coffee…. if you can’t bo bothered, go
I was thinking and saying exactly the same thing this morning when I slid down three streets before I got to the A49, even that had minimal if any grit on it.#
Will we get a rebate, thought not
Oh yesssss
