He laughed when I said we were beginning to think he had disappeared after not hearing about him in the media

Was it one of those awkward “who is this idiot” laughs?

First come first served doesnt work if you cant get to the ticket office but they could split the tickets between office, phone and web sales but thats too easy/clever

Has cook even turned up to these games? Obvious what woulfd happen but you all chose to be fan of the year candidates and go.

    in reply to: Refund #163142

You were all fan of the year this afternoo

in reply to: Up for the cup #163097

Well done. I have put you forward for fan of the year

And the fa cup is no longer the big prize it was. Most of the big clubs would rather qualify for the champs league than win the cup, and the smaller clubs just want to stay in the league so play the reserves. Look at Stelling and his merry men on soccer Saturday when they questioned what we would rather do and then laughed when we said win the cup.

Sad state of affairs but football is a business now and there is no money in winning the cup.

    Chorley away

Not paying a tenner to watch a glorified youth match

in reply to: Rochdale Game Off #163091

I can guarantee that if we played and lost that people would be saying “why didn’t we call it off”

but the chances of them moving out are massively slim.

On what grounds? Excuse the pun!
1 – It depends if the buyers actually buy the stadium or agree a deal with Whelan similar to the one in place now. If the £20m figure is correct then I doubt they are buying the club, stadium, training ground, academy and other assets.

2 – Unless our buyers are the dumbest businessmen on the planet then they will want to make as much money as possible. They will make next to f*** all from WAFC unless we get to the PL which is no guarantee and how long do they hang around for if we fail a few times like 1998-2003 for example? The most likely idea is that they will agree a new deal with the goons who will pay more towards the ground than now which covers the losses from an empty white elephant stadium such as ours.

3 – Would DW want to sell the stadium or would he still want his family to have some sort of business (all of the party nights etc) and an hold on the running of the 2 clubs with fixtures etc? Like it or not but he is a Wigan rugby fan.

Nobody will be quicker to laugh at the goons if they get shipped out and end up at Leigh in front of 5000 because tbe rest wont catch tge 2 buses needed to get there, but it just isnt going to happen.
Oh and Eric Pollard is the guy who will have to give the green light to the deal

Good run out for the fringe lads

    in reply to: Cuckoos #162625

Everyone calls the goons cuckoos and then spout garbage from the planet obsessed.

I hate the goons as much as anyone being a Saints fan; but the chances of them moving out are massively slim.

I love it. Whelan doing what is best.

If he passed away as club owner, Barclays would immediately call in the debts…the loans Whelan took out for the club and which he has been guarantor for. It could put Wigan in serious trouble. Apparently Barclays risk management team has us on the ‘at risk’ list.

This takeover will do away with that possibility. The Football League has learned a lot from previous foreign investments and takeovers, with thorough testing and examining if diligence.

Forgot about your mate who breaches rule 1 of his job.
