What the IEC have sadly done in my eyes by selling Grigg is they’ve made an overnight divide between fans and in some cases a hatred against them in the short time as new owners not because of the sale of Grigg but Vaughan as well at a time when they are most needed.

Agree

As per usual egg, you reply to a post in a very reasonable manner. However, despite myself usually being generally a positive poster, my doubts re: IEC has now doubled.

I just think they will be exactly the same as Whelan, but less likely to throw their own money at it.

£3m for a player is something we can’t turn down with the losses we have currently. Not selling Powell last year screwed us over essentially.

If fans want to leave over transfer dealings then let them. I might not agree with everything the club says but I’ll still be there because they are MY club.

Unfortunately if someone makes an offer too good to turn down we have to take it. Like it or not we have some serious balancing of the books to do.

I’m as peed off as everyone else in terms of not getting a replacement because I agree there is no guarantee he would have kept us up, but to lose a forward is stupid. Paul Kendrick says a free agent is on the way so hopefully he is a striker.

As for a left back, Robinson is back in training according to the new lad from Everton (who is a Wigan lad) so perhaps we decided we didn’t need one. I do disagree on that one slightly.

IEC have mentioned youth and everyone is screaming for Gelhardt. Maybe now we will see him?

I don’t think he has sold us a dummy at all, I think some people have gotten completely the wrong impression.

Having read the accounts it is obvious we are in a pretty poor place in terms of what comes in and what goes out.

DW always said he would sell us to someone who would protect the club and not spend money we don’t have and he has done just that.

People see “chinese investment” and instantly think we will become the new city. Yes Dr Choi the owner of IEC is pretty wealthy but IEC themselves are far from it. They have even said themselves that money won’t be thrown around but we will invest in youth.

I think we have got exactly what it says on the tin, but some people have bought Rola Cola and expect it to taste like Coca-Cola.

Must have a backup in the pipeline. Surely………….

I hope he can replicate the form he’s been in at Sheffield Utd.

The last time he was here Feb 2015 on loan (Stu will correct me if I’m wrong :) ) we went down to League One
1 goal in 10
Welcome back Leon and good luck

44 in 118 since isn’t bad
That clubs or goals ? :)
Point taken but as he admitted himself he was in a very good side at Sheffield Utd which was a huge upturn in his form. Let’s not forget, were Sheffield Utd are in the League.
Would Grigg score as many in a better side say like Sheffield Utd were they consentrate on playing to your strengths ?.
I hope Clarke comes here and hits half a dozen I truly do but as for stats ? , 44 in 118 ? You can paint positive and negative stats all day long.
In 10 of his 19 club moves he has scored 1 goal or less and 40 odd goals in 7 year a period.
That’s all gone, what counts now is, he picks up were he left off at Sheffield Utd and he hits a dozen for us, no pressure like :)
, good luck Leon
He certainly didn’t rip any trees up for us last time, but his record at Sheff Utd has been quite good. We just need to give him service though which is the problem we seem to have at the minute.

What would be the odds be that were lining up a replacement for Grigg as we speak and if it goes through Griggs gone.

It seems strange that we so called valued him at £1.25 million but an offer of £1.5 million has been turned down and now we’ve moved the goal post up to a mad £3 million.

Nothing shocks me on transfer day with us. We normally have a minimum 10 player turn around. Should be an interesting last few hours for us

Vaughan going means that we won’t let Grigg go without a replacement so fingers crossed we don’t sign a striker unless he happens to be someone like Billy Sharp or that Roofe guy at Leeds.

I heard we will only accept an offer of 3 million for grigg, having turned down the 5th offer. Even if that is the case, I hope there is someone lined up.

That’s the problem with a transfer window and deadline. To sell a player you usually require a backup so you either sign someone you don’t need, sign them for well over the odds because the selling club know you’re desperate or worse still end up with nobody.

I personally think that someone going out will only be on loan and we will probably get a LB in on loan as well.

I’m enjoying the debate, but can we cut out the insults?

Personally, I think Clarke and Fox will be good signings. Clarke has scored goals everywhere but here which seems to be the norm. Fingers crossed we don’t lose anyone.
