It amazes me that some fans are resorting to wind up posts about Martinez when said fans wanted him gone two years prior to our excellent FA CUP winning season

                        from sky

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has admitted to receiving three bids for Arouna Kone, with Everton among the interested parties.

Sky Sports revealed on Tuesday that the Toffees had made an approach, with Roberto Martinez planning a raid on his former employees.

Kone has been linked with a switch to Goodison Park ever since it was confirmed that Martinez was to leave the Latics for Merseyside.

He has a £5million buy-out clause in his contract and is looking to activate that following Wigan’s relegation out of the Premier League.

Everton are prepared to offer him an immediate return to the top flight, but they face competition for the Ivorian’s signature from two other clubs.

Whelan said on a possible deal: “Three clubs have made offers for Kone – Everton is one – as he had a clause in his contract that he could go if someone paid £5m.

“I think he will go to Everton.”

Sky Sports understands a host of Championship clubs are weighing up moves for former Manchester United striker John Cofie.

Cofie, 20, is available on a free transfer after leaving Old Trafford earlier this summer.

United signed Cofie in 2007 as a 14-year-old from Burnley with United beating a host of clubs to the teenage sensation’s signature.

Cofie failed to make the breakthrough at Old Trafford and he had spells out on loan at Royal Antwerp, Sheffield United and Notts County over the last 18 months.

The powerful striker is keen to fix himself up at a new club as he looks to be playing regular first-team football and a number of Championship sides are battling for his signature.

That’s a lot of money for a reserve keeper.

£400.000 quoted in two newspapers today
