Petrov will want a huge sign-on fee that Wigan can’t (or most likely won’t) pay. Other teams around us (eg. Sunderland) might be after him and they’ll pay top dollar wages, unlike us

He’s also always injured, I’d stay clear of him to be honest. Arguably a good player though.

        Whispering Death is Michael Holding.

These two i’m not so sure but The Grinder may be Cliff Thorburn and The Blond Adonis is Steve Beaton I think.

James, tell me who The Flying Scotsman is as it’s doin my nut in n’all.

No, not really, look up a tongue and find a cheek and you’ll be halfway there.

It arguably looks better???? ;) [/quote]

Meant to write “on the eye” as well, I do so much cutting and pasting to get my posts away from the eye of the Grammar Gestapo that in my haste I may have cut too much. Apologies.

I have no preference really. I had more laughs at Springfield Park, cos I used to go with my mates from School and suprisingly for that era there were quite a few of us.

The DW is good because of all the promotions and seeing us play Premier League footie and it arguably looks better. However I used to love going watching Latics at Springy and it was the first Stadium I ever went to. It’s probably all nostalgia but as ApplyBridgeBlue said “It was a dump but it was our dump”.

Loving the irony mate, even if it wasn’t meant.

I think if it was up to McArthur himself, he’d come here, because of McCarthy, however with McKay being his agent, wouldn’t be suprised if he ended up at Birmingham, as his agent is only bothered and influenced by the pound signs. Tart.

That Swindon Latic was writing up translated (or were they) articles from Argentina, saying it was about $9.5 mill, which is about 5.5 mill pounds, which is the same (more or less) being quoted by The Mirror ( I know, hardly anything to go by)

If that’s the case we’ll be alright, I still expect N’Zogbia to leave either this summer or in the next transfer window, so it’s not as if we’ll be skint. Judging by the fella’s record in Argentina, 6 mill looks a good price.

. Would anyone be interested in having a read once published?

Aye, I’d read it, I would also consider paying for it but if you was to provide a free copy…Hoorah.

The second one will be about the frustrations of being a football fanatic with domestic and other responsibilities getting in the way – loosely :)

Aye fair play Griff, Kudos to anyone who can a get a book published, this second book looks an interesting one, i’ll give it a read if it hits the shops, (*this is not a dig*) as i’d read pretty much anything.

It was a joint effort with Jimmy, although Vaughnie alsowe wrote Punk Football. Shamefully, I get the titles of Jimmy’s books mixed up without the ability to turn round and look at them on my bookcase. You’ll find them on Mudhuts Media easily enough.

Thank you, well I’ve read that then it seems. I’ll have a look at that other one, what’s your first effort about then, is it football related or of some other nature.

Yes but its not about individuals is it?

England’s biggest downfall has always been playing well as a team.

How can playing well as a team be a downfall? :?

Aye, I know what you mean. Back to the thread, a good double would be Villa top scorer and Spain to win. Although it wouldn’t pay out like the Van Persie one. It all depends how much coin you wanna pile on.

Its a great idea, but be careful as it has been done before.
The last one by Vaughnie and Jimmy was exceptionally good.
It might not be a bad idea to get hold of a copy just to see what you are up against.
Keep us posted, I’m sure plenty of ideas will be posted on here should you need any inspiration.
                            Good luck.

Horc, what is the book called by Vaughnie? Not lived in Wigan for a while like, but i’ve read Jimmy’s effort.

                            Good luck Posh Tic.

Aye, it also means that he’ll probably play two up front so my World Cup 11 (with Gerrard in the ‘hole’) that I posted on another thread is done for.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion sure, but at the end of the day Fabio knows far more than any of us therefore everyone on here is wrong

Aye, but it’s still alreet to have an opinion on Capello’s squad, hence why these type of forums are popular in the first place.

Capello might know more than the rest of us but it’s still OK to disagree with or debate his decisions. In particular, his decision to take SWP over Johnson, which I, (along with quite a few others I would summise) can’t get my head round.
