As a 10yr old in 1985 I went to the Bobb Robson Soccer School at Robin Park for a week. Maurice Whittle was our groups coach for the week & our team won the tournament at the end.
I’d never heard of him like but he did bring in all his old shirts for us to train n one day & I wore the shirt of the team he played for in the US so I’m assuming it was that oneIn other Latics related trivia about that week, future Latics legend Greg Strong was on my team
I was also in that team Tyldesley. Had forgotten about Maurice showing us his shirts. Didn’t realise/remember that we had won the tournament at the end. Was that with Neil Critchley and Paul Blenkinship?
Thinking about it, my team may have been runners up – I know that each coach had 2 teams in the tournament & both Maurice’s teams got to the final & played each other. I also remember it going to a penalty shoot out & Greg Strong missed one for us (& cried) but then they missed the next one. How it ended up I don’t remember – I’ll have to check what’s on the trophy that my mum still has!!
The only lads I remember from our year being their were Nidge, Wayne Little, me & Danny Wilson to be honest, can’t remember Blenky or even yourself but my memory isn’t what it once was!! although there were also some lads there from the year aboveAs a 10yr old in 1985 I went to the Bobb Robson Soccer School at Robin Park for a week. Tickets for Maribor will be in somewhat shorter supply – the ground holds about 13,000 & the usual allocation for visiting supporters is 694
I’d still have thought that would be enough to cope with demand like
Now then Tyldesley. 3 of us lads on Wed to Fri from Stanstead if ya wanna share lift to cut price? There’s 3 of us too so if you have a 6 seater I’d be interested. I’ll see if my mates would be up for it n’all
Not really old chap, just booked a 4 star for £ 75.50 per person for 3 nights, includes flights :)Now who’s telling porkies!!
That’s my Maribor flights & accommodation sorted for £110
Just hope I can get hold of match tickets now
Now to tell the wife!!!Someone is telling porkies :)
Return flight was £65 @ about 4.30 this afternoon.
Twin room in a pension the other side of the river from the ground was £85 between the 2 of us for 2 nights.Just worth mentioning that a mate has booked on the same flights about an hour ago for £130 return.

Now to tell the wife!!!Don’t forget to factor in your costs to and from Stansted and the parking cost of between min £35 to max £57 dependant if you park on or off the airport.
So you haven’t done it for £110
I said flights & accommodation sorted for £110!!!
£35 petrol between 2 of us. Won’t cost me anything to park
Also have train tickets in Slovenia to sortO.K. post the details so that others who want to go can bookEasyjet flight from Stanstead to Ljubljana was £65
Booked a pension through booking.com which is the other side of the river from the stadium for £85 for 2 nights in a twin room
There’s a train journey of about 1hr 45min from Ljubljana to Maribor involved but its cheap as chips.
Oh & it’s goin out Wednesday & comin back FridayThere weren’t many seats left on the flight though
Nearest airport is Graz but the flights there were extortionate
I’d imagine that the club will prioritise selling tickets much like they do normally & did for the Wembley games
Difficult to know what the demand will be from Latics fans till they go on sale I guessLooking at the seeding pots the ultimate nightmare scenario group for travelling Latics would pit us up against:
Rubin Kazan
Chornomorets Odesa &
Shakter KaragandyIn an ideal world, I’d like:
Fiorentina
Vitoria De Guimaraes/Pacos De Ferreira/Estoril &
Apollon Limassol/Thun/St GallenThe firm I went to the millwall game @ Wembley with (coach innovations) will be putting trips on for the away games if they are reachable within 36-48 hours by coach.
They’ve been doing euro trips for years for numerous teams, were very good for Wembley, put you up in 4 star hotels, are very cheap And if you look at some of their past euro jaunts & once in mainland Europe you can drink alcohol on their coachesAn all time classic:
I’ve got more:
And this:
One that has always stuck in my mind is this one:
