Up till the goal I was accepting of a point but that last 10 minutes reminded me of the glory days.
Proper Latics smash and grab performance that and a fine victory that instead of relegation leaves me dreaming ridiculously of a late play off surge!
Too late for sure but what a turnaround since Christmas !A midtable finish and a consolidated position in this division is more than acceptable to me.
Lets hope they can put the relegation worries to sleep over the next 2 games.A ground we have faired pretty well at over the years so i am going for a 2-1 win , hope he keeps same back four.
Great idea ,
Hopefully others will be on red button regardless to deter any supporters gathering near the grounds.
Would also surely make sense commercially for the tv companiesgiven the likely overall tv audience for the full fixture card.
Would be very easy to sell advertising around it I’m sure.I agree with you Donny , it’s time to end this nonsense next week and start afresh as soon as the crowds can return.
Stuff the play offs and promote the as it where top three and relegate the clubs in the bottom three .All done and dusted and fair because playing weakened unfit teams benefits nobody and without crowds what is the point ?
Common sense says end it now but what is the future for football ?
I fear the worst going forward , season tickets 20-21 ? ( who the fook will buy any?) , no revenue once furlough ends to pay wages.
Negative I know but how many owners are going to prop football up for the likely year without any crowd revenue?
Awful awful times and we haven’t even started picking up the wreckage from the storm yet !…..
Best – quality exercise , good sleep and the incredible blue sky ( never seen them as blue) weather, all over after my very welcome return to work last week
worst – everything else about it but most deffo the quad biking tits roving the street at all hours , litter droppers , dog crap droppers ,and the emotional TV adverts especially that dreadful one with the faux reaction of the middle aged actress pretending to look emotional when her wuss actor teenage son says she did well in the lockdown.
screaming now as i think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!All rosy before lockdown and now I have a nagging worry about the return into empty grounds.
A massive concern but not as big as how the club will operate and function without the crowds bringing the cash in.Watched his football documentary featuring middle aged footballers this week which involved the usual jovial cockney stuff whenever he is on the telly.
He didn’t mention “sarndrer “ or “ I grew ap on a facin carncel
Estate in east end o landen “ though which was strange.
I think I would stick to that if I was him but given his popularity at the moment to TV companies I would think any purchase of a club would involve a TV documentary of some sort and would likely be a non league club with some silent partner backing .Not expecting one and am happy to help the club at this dreadful time .
I’m an overseas supporter (Ireland) so I don’t get to see as many games which may explain a few ‘peculiar’ choices here!5) Northampton Town (H) 2-1 win. My first Wigan game, September 2000 I think. Haworth and Liddell with a cracker scored and the game was held up for about 10 minutes due to crowd trouble, away fans of course!!
4) Millwall, Wembley, 2-0. Seeing Wigan at Wembley will always be a highlight. Also a bit of crowd trouble, am I seeing a trend here  ??. Unfortunately couldn’t return for the cup final as it was my daughter’s communion.
3) QPR (A) 1-0, 2003, my first Wigan away game with the Duke chesting the ball in from close range.
2) Reading, 3-1, game that clinched promotion to Premier League. Another thing I remember from that great day was seeing an Irish tricolour hanging the West Stand with ‘Tiocfaidh ar la’ written on it  . Maybe James was in attendance!
1) West Ham, 3-2, what a game, the fightback from 0-2 to win 3-2. The game could have finished 10-10, buzzing for the night. My wife, who went shopping in Manchester, thought I had taken something when I met her!!The Northampton one is a good one and remember the fighting which I think was with the security from memory.
The ref did signal and stop the play however he didn’t take the players off the field as that was always viewed very badly by the authorities.
Same year as the Stoke trouble when the players had to come off the field.
Quirky incident from a set of supporters whom (what there was if them ) never caused any trouble, remember one of their lot screaming and shouting “Scum” after the game presumably over the incident.
Remember incidents in the grounds early existence with over zealous stewards steaming around telling usually young fans to get their feet off seats etc hardly the crime of the year was it ?5th home game versus Man Utd won 1-0 2011-12
4th home game versus Darlington 1994 2-0 win , first game I took my son to , then aged only 4.
3rd 2013 FA cup final v Man City , amazing day and most people’s number one but kind of expected to win it believe it or not.
2nd West Ham at home 3-2 home win 2010-11 , so much was riding on this one and such a finish to the game.
1st home v Port vale April 1979 5-3 home win after being 3-0 down with 20 minutes to play, first ever Latics game5th home game versus Man Utd won 1-0 2011-12
