I don’t buy anything at the ground (just suffer that appalling half time ‘ entertainment’) so don’t moan about prices if you are prepared to pay them.
As for the game well yes we picked up three points but there seemed a flat atmosphere about the place from both sets of supporters which was disappointing and that seemed to pass to the players because the game is one of the worst I have seen for a good few years.
callum played well and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets some interest before the window closes but we again failed to take scores of chances and nearly let the back in near the end.
we also seem to have lost 3 or 4000 ‘ supporters’ particularly from the children’s stand which is extremely worrying and could mean we have some very tough times ahead.people really cant be arsed anymore the club is in decline and fans know it.
The club is in decline?, are you serious bicky or just taking the pi$$?. For the love of Christ just what do you expect from the club?. You have seen it win the FA Cup and play in Europe and yes relegation but come on it was always going to happen. It was a bloody wonderful achievement we hung in there so long. Your club has written the greatest story ever told and has along with Wigan Rugby made this town a sporting phenomenon. So we are in the Championship along with some massive clubs and have had a couple of bad results but to call it decline, sorry marrer I aint having that. Give it a chance at least, not too many years ago we would have given anything to be in this division. We are Wigan Athletic and it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t go down the league a bit so we can piss all the big boys off again by coming back up again. Have faith bicky and BELIEVE ;)
What a great post !
I was going to respond in similar terms but you have said it all .
I can only think if two bad seasons since 1996 and they were 1997-1998 and 2001-2002 and that’s it.
I will carry on watching this club regardless and I think we are in for a tough old season simply because we are in transition and the club will find its place however I have been constantly surprised by this great club over the years.
shame on the fair weather prats that have deserted the club because we no longer inhabit the ‘greed is good let’s sack the manager if we hit the bottom three league’ And good riddance!!!Don’t forget the premier league clubs got a far bigger payout last season and with the parachute money they are receiving it looks like the likes of Cardiff and Norwich could well dominate this division this year.
Cardiff have a squad packed full of quality that quite frankly we can’t match and this already is looking like a season of transition rather than a promotion one and a steady decline seems to have started.
this policy of running the club as if the parachute money has already disappeared just isn’t working in my opinion and unless some decent investment is made in the team then more results like this will follow. His voice reminds me of cold winters evenings of sleet and driving rain and coming home to hear that sports report theme tune followed by his reading out the football results in that distinctive voice.
he will never be replaced
RIPThere haven’t been many lean years over the past 20 years have there ?
1997-98, 2001-2002 and that’s about it if you ask me – the premier years were a roller coaster and just staying in it was like a cup final victory.
Maybe we are about to see some lean years as the drawbridge has well and truly been pulled up money wise but the league is very open so I’m not giving up just yet.
Blackpool must be there for the taking next week surely.2 games in and having narrowly lost at a ground we have never done very well at people are talking about a long, hard season.
the championship is extremely tough and everybody wants to scalp us because of our long stay in the premier league so every season in here is going to be long and hard regardless.
let’s start panicking if we lose next Saturday but I full expect our first three points next week:( I`m getting bad vibes from what i`m seeing so far but it is early days it feels already like Saturdays game is make or break for us .Dear me I consider ” make or break” as you put it to be a promotion or relegation decider not the first away game of the season at a ground we have never done very well at in the past!
let’s make our judgements after the transfer window has closed and a month or two has gone by.Remember a player ( eighties )from the north east called shaun murray who was hailed as the next Bobby Charlton. All the top clubs in the country were after him before he went to Spurs- think he ended up at Notts county or somewhere.
another one that springs to mind is Rod Thomas who was also tipped for great things.
Francis Jeffers also springs to mind .1-0 home win

can’t wait!!!!You just have to be vigilant anywhere really always a gang of bullies ready to intimidate in some of these places.
one thing I’m proud of is that our town and people welcome people in and treat them well regardless of origin and our supporters have no time for bullies either. Not sure id want to roam around Wolverhampton and take in the ‘sights’ for any length of time.
Best to jump on a train to Birmingham and catch one back given the ‘welcome’ you will probably receive from the locals .
safe journeysbet they didn’t even know when World War Two started or finished- thick as pigs@@@t and an embarrassment to our town!
the most competitive league in Europe – bring it on regardless!
Don’t talk rubbish. You know full well that the Premier League is the greatest most competitive league in the entire World. The Premier League is awesome.
Do you work for a satellite broadcaster by any chance ?
Most embarrassing chant by a group of young lads
“TWO WORLD WARS AND ONE WORLD CUP” and “5-1”With stupid chants like that us it any surprise local people wanted a fight after the game?
I feel sorry for the genuine supporters like yourself who are having to put up with these imbeciles!FA cup semi final after beating the eventual Premier league champions and a play off semi after changing our manager is hardly ‘muddling through’ as you put it.
no rocky ride for me just hope and excitement for the season ahead in the most competitive league in Europe – bring it on regardless! -
