A great chance to get 9 points out of 9 in the first three games, a relatively easy run in and still people are moaning.
I give up, I really do. Talk about paranoid!! :shifty:
I said that Griff. I said we can get 9 points because after all they are championship sides really yet. However the premiership see us as a side that they can beat and get the league interesting right from the off at our expense. I didn’t say that we as a club could not beat them im saying that the Premier League don’t want us to beat them so we play all 3 at a time that suits them all perfectly. Big clubs and fan bases and all that, all another excuse to try and squeeze us out. More than ever i want us to prove them wrong. It get’s more intense every season for one reason or another.
Suppose the point im trying to make is kind of, If those sides who came up were given 3 teams from the top 4 for their start then their confidence would be shot and the season effectively over before it starts. Same principle in my eyes. But all geared at us…….again
Has there ever been a season since Latics made it to the top flight where the fixture computer hasn’t given us an absolute killer run of the big 4-6 sides???This season we get it twice!!!!
Exactly. Would it be so bad to actually have a computer randomising the fixtures. They use us as bait to let the big teams pick up points on the trot. Well try to anyway. I can just see Trevor Brooking sitting at a desk figuring out ways he can do it, Clicking his pen in anticipation. They can’t be random fixtures because every season there always seems to be a few weekends of the top 4 playing each other and the survival sunday things etc. They pick a point in the season when they want the big guns to play each other and that. Why the hell has the premier league just handed over everything and all the decisions to sky. It stinks, they made a great league and then tore it down.
I honestly believe that is the premiership trying to relegate us. Who has ever played all 3 promoted teams first 3 games. You never see a team like Chelsea or United get those clubs first 3. The 3 teams still on an upper and the premiership know there is a chance they could beat us. And then they give us those games in September hoping we haven’t picked anything up off the first 3 games so by October they expect us i reckon to be rock bottom. And then a see saw mid season and then finish us off with Liverpool, Chelsea, United and Arsenal in the space of 2 weeks. And then give us 3 relegation dog fights to make it interesting.
I really do believe its a conspiracy. It is disgraceful.
Well let’s fcuk em over. Come on Bobby get the lads ready for the new boys and let’s show them what it takes to be a Premiership team, Squeeze 9 points and wipe the smile off Mr.Brooking and e.t.c’s faces
I drive past his old house in Goldbourne every morning. Remember the couch he had in the back garden.
Golborne? On the way to Milton Keynes?
Haha no mate, Been re-located to Crewe, have a pick up in Abram to make first. A big foul up by my company in Luton a few weeks ago but happy days i am only 40 mins away now.
Just noticed the Golborne spelling error too, Forgive me it was early and i hadn’t had my wheetabix :confusion-seeingstars:
The good old days :D .I think me and Carl H were supposed to be running that coach for Arky that day. A double decker i think with a couple of dubious films shown on the way down :D . Danny vodka (RIP) had drank a bottle of vodka by Warrington so no suprise what happened later outside that pub.I seem to remember Danny Vodka supping a bottle at 5am on the way to Cheltenham and then another half of one about 9am in Cheltenham, Come to think of it i remember him drinking one outside Wigan college before Stoke away in the F.A Cup. Haha he is a true legend. I drive past his old house in Goldbourne every morning. Remember the couch he had in the back garden.
yosser dont take this the wrong way mate, but is it hayley cropper your talking about?
1st you said my man is one
then you said she talks like that, then, you may work with her.
You do sound a bit mixed up,perhaps you need to talk to a psychologhist :? ;)         its now ammended
I think the media played a good un to be fair. A lot happened yesterday and a lot was said. Most of what i said was out of anger and disappointment(spare of the moment stuff) and i was wrong i admit. I’m curious and anxious to see what his next moves are. I want to see his grand plan in action and his ideas of how we are going to take the next steps forward. Looks like those of you predicting he may have used the media to angle a better deal here and get what he wanted out of Whelan were correct. It looks increasingly like Dave is going to back him to the hilt, I just hope he does it with funds too and forgives him for Boselli. I said to my mate before i think we should be aiming for around a 14th place finish, But not a finish where we finish there and just avoid relegation because of a couple of end of season good results. I think now at the least we should be aiming at trying to finish around there but safe(ish) with around 5 games to go. Presumably the aim is a mid-table finish but in reality i think 14th is reasonable and would still be making progress and heading in the right direction.
There’s nothing quite like graciously admitting you are wrong.
First you jump the gun and slag him off for going to Brmingham. Then you blame the media for playing a good ‘un. You go on to say he’s played it to get more out of before finishing off by setting him a target for next season!
Mr Northern…in your graciousness you omitted this little nugget also:
I’m curious and anxious to see what his next moves are. I want to see his grand plan in action and his ideas of how we are going to take the next steps forward.
who on earth has he been watching over the past couple of years. I for one have kept up with what Mr Martinez’ moves are going to be…I fully understand his ‘grand plan’ (call me old fashioned but he has said it in plain English several times) and where we are going as a club and a team.
It’s hardly been rocket science…………but really a struggle for those with dark glasses on to fully comprehend. I have never said that I have been led by blind faith (I leave that to my beliefs and faith ) but I have taken the consideration to read, monitor, watch, listen, observe, research and more importantly support his ethos, style, ideas and (very importantly) his committement to us all.
I fully believe that this selfless act of loyalty will embrace all town folk and act as a timely reminder to all that we are progressive, we are a great team, we are a family and we are…………… Wigan Athletic.
over the last couple of years i have been watching a load of bad language why what have you seen. 2 months of good football from March this year is what we got from 2 seasons work. Roy Hodgson got West Brom playing good football instantly and got results with worse players. Not rocket science is it. One one side you can say yes he is playing it the right way e.t.c but how long does it take. On the down side you can also say that football is a results business and if you don’t get the results you are not doing it right.
You see, Bandwagon. Don’t try to put me down d1ckhead, You may think you are clever but you are not.
Touchy…..
you really have missed what has been going on. I never said that the quality of the performances was the measure of what Mr Martinez has been trying to achieve….re-read it chump and you will notice I talk of his ethos, style, ideas and commitment. Had I been a bandwagoner I would have stopped watching quite some time ago. Your comments above are ‘proof positive’ that you have no idea of what you are talking about – as you just don’t pay attention.
Oh and I don’t have to try and put you down d1ckhead, you are more than capable of making a fool of yourself without any help from anyone on here.
As for thinking I’m clever…well my 2.1 in Psychology must have been a complete waste of my time.
Thank you for your concerns though………..
I don’t want enemies but i should have guessed you was a psychologist, My mam is and you speak exactly like her, Don’t take this the wrong way but a know all. Problem with psychology is you think you can read and understand everyone. I will leave it there as a truce offering. I can’t be sure but i think i actually know who you are but i won’t insult you any further by childishly calling you names. You may work with her. :angry-chillpill:

Can somebody please tell me in what i said was so wrong. Or is it just numb nuts who has taken objection to it.
I admitted i was wrong and stated my reasons for it. Im not a darksider, i was appointed by you lot to give you someone to have a go at. Why is it so wrong to have a view when things are going bad. When things are going good i say so but they are never noticed, Some of you make me laugh. You say that ‘darksiders’ can’t wait to post when things are going bad but you all seem to miss the positive posts. We as football fans have a right to vent our views. How boring would it be to wait all week with nothing and then just a match day. Some of you cant wait to pounce on anything slightly negative and you are more anxious than darksiders are in anticipation of a slightly sour post. you lie in waiting ready for a negative post after a bad result e.t.c and just because someone dared to point it out you all jump on them. I challenge some of you to have your own views and speak you mind sometimes rather than jumping on a post bandwagon.

I didn’t want him to go until i learned he was in Birmingham, the tail end of the season was superb and the squad really came together but now i just want him to go. He has spouted for two seasons of his love for the club and everyone connected with it and that he has to stay here and finish the project.
Just go Martinez, You are nowhere near as good as you think you are yet.
I think he would do the job for us proven Prem goal scorer and allways a handfull. 2.5 to 3 mill should get him. Wot do you think !!!!Rather him than Mackail-Smith. Nowt against him but Long has been a very god striker for 3 or 4 seasons now in higher leagues. Would be very very happy with Long.
It is a pity we are looking. If Martinez would have used Sinclair to his potential i would be a different story. He for me is the player he has got wrong the most. I think i speak for most people there.
Wonder if PJ will swap us Wickham for Rodallega
would love to sign him hes a great player. hope we can sign pablo piatti but i doubt we will from what ive seen he actually looks good so weve got no chance :(Oh well there we are then. If there any players out there reading these message boards (which i suspect they will do, I would) Then don’t even think of trying to move to our club unless you are useless
Too true, really shortens my run when im hurdling a row of them, I dont get the full capacity of my lungs as my legs give out about half a mile after
