Been watchin FA Cup Final for the millionth time (as missus as gone out so I get the remote). Now I sky+ the game on espn. When Watson scored the winning goal, from one camera angle three lads jump up in the Citeh end. Would live to think they were Wiganers and not utd fans.
Can anyone shed any light ?

    Wonderful day….but for God’s sake(your own?), GET A LIFE

Excellent result, with Brighton being level on pts etc…

Nice gap starting to open below us.

We are the team the other play off contenders fear. I still say if we do get in the play offs we will win.

Automatic promotion is probably a step too far though in fairness. Can’t see Leicester missing out unless they have a dreadful run.

Spot on, …just need to avoid the dreaded penalty shoot-out

Building up a momentum now … (Watson loss, bad news)

Win by 3 or more and we go 7th.

2, me thinks (goals scored) :cheer:

It’s a shite draw which I find hard to put a positive spin on !!

    Try this.

If we’d drawn either of the Sheffield teams, or Dull or Blunderland (oops, sorry, Griff – been here too long!) then we would have had the same attitude Everton had for us last season.

As it is we are going to need to fight with every ounce we have. The fact that Uwe is a City cult figure means that perversely he is going to be out to prove a point. I think it could give us a good lift.

    Difficult, yes. Impossible, no.
Manchester City, the multi-millions backed football team, recent EPL Champions (11/12), FA Cup-Finalist, top ECL team, and Champions-elect (13/14) up against CURRENT FA CUP HOLDERS, WIGAN ATHLETIC (winners versus Man City) …… sounds good !!

Play as we did at the Etihad, and Wembley last season (possession football) and we’ll give them a game. Uwe (won’t want to look a fool) and the lads (if they’ve got any sense!) will be up for this one.

Wigan Athletic in the news ….

    Difficult, yes. Impossible, no.
U.R. (OOH….AAH…)

PS. Reading – lousy result yesterday. Barnsley must-win tomorrow.

Heard a rumour we’ve sold 1400 tickets for this game, is this true?

Cardiff City fans seem pretty confident of a home win. Even though ole looks like he’ll make plenty of changes. Let’s hope that works in our favour and we come away with a win. Looking at the teams still in this competition a semi final is achievable

….all the way, all the way, …. we’re the famous Wigan Latics … and we’re goin’ to WEM-BER-LEY B)
as I was saying ……. fingers crossed now for a good home draw B) B)
Cardiff 1-2 Wigan
“A fantastic performance from the cup holders Wigan. They have come here and done a superb job. The goal that won it warranted them to progress to the quarter-finals. The manager Uwe Roser got it absolutely right tactically, and …..
………….Wigan deserve to defend their cup for at least one round more.”

Oh ye of little faith …

When people on the outside see the match stats they will wonder why we struggled

If you were at the match you wouldn’t.

Prior to the 3 changes we didn’t look like scoring.

Two moments of magic won it for us.

A great threaded through ball and a great free kick.

    God bless the super subs.

Gomez sprinted off rather quickly at the end though which was a bit strange !! :(
The only thing that is strange is that Jordi didn’t do a lap of the pitch telling everyone to fuck off because, if I was him, that’s what I’d do.

    AGREED

I see the East Stand Creche finally started to sing a song for him today… fickle, know-nowt twats!
THEM AJORITY YES, BUT NOT ALL OF US … GOOD ON YER, JORDI

Some of you lot wouldn’t recognise a good football player if your life depended on it.

So what few years of medical treatment would that be JR, seeing as he only joined the club at the start of the 2012/13 season? And I suppose it was very remiss of him to damage his cruciate ligament playing for Wigan Athletic and then expect the club to pay for his recovery. That then makes him much less a prolific starter than the sick note known as Rogne?

A class player who I am sorry to see leave, if in fact he has left, and so bad he’s attracting the interest of at least two Premiership clubs. If he and Alcaraz, or just one of them, had stayed fit last season we would not have been relegated.

Not one of RMs better buys my arse.

2 EPL clubs … Palace, Cardiff ….precisely ! (one or other / both Championship again next season). Palace first 11 (practically) put to bed yesterday.

Whereas McCarthy, Kone, Robles, Valencia etc. go top 6-8 team. Even Diame went to a club with a little more expectation of avoiding the annual relegation scrap

If he’s so feckin good, then …. (explain please)

Even West Spam – the only team he ever turned up against / and short on defenders appear to show no interest …

    PS

Picture in the paper (internet) had me p@ssing myself yesterday – quote ‘Ramis getting stuck in’ .. it was actually, the photo capturing Ramis ill-timed tackle on Hazard in first EPL game, resulting in penalty (7 minutes played: Latics 0 (Ramis -2) Chelsea 2 ..

As someone recently said ‘lazy journalism …’
To eb fair, three of those went to a top 6 side because their ex-manager took them there.

Ramis isn’t the quickest CB at the club – and that’s what most of his detractors (yourself included) pick up on, but personally I think he’s a classy player, whose injuries have probably restricted the number of clubs interested in him.
SW

We’ll always disagree on Ramis (memories of last season – LHS, RHS etc.. as we all know football’s game of opinions.

As regards the three who went to Everton, let’s not forget there’s no reason why RM couldn’t come back for Ivan if he were so good (Heitinga, after all, may be on his way out …) Alcaraz also hasn’t been without his injuries (injured now ??). Unfortunately, last year to our detriment …

Let’s not forget not also Palacios (Spurs, Stoke) and Rodallega (Fulham) who went to decent (top 10) teams (re. comment above …. 2 EPL teams (this year YES, next year ???)

Re. Centre Backs – one I do like – Barnett – committed, decent, rarely has an off day / drops an obvious b@llock; one of OC’s better buys (600k, VFM …)
I’d hazard a guess that Martinez didn’t come back for Ramis because he was/is still crocked. And maybe he rated Alcaraz more and didn’t have the budget for both of them.

Regarding Coyle’s signings: I agree Barnett has been a very good signing, as has Perch (getting much better, when played in rightful position … on rhs.)

McCann has improved dramatically over recent months, and I rate him now.

McClean, although he had a good game on Saturday, still needs to sort his final ball out and improve his decision-making – i.e. pass when it makes sense to (last minute miss versus Palace; put on a plate for Powell to kill the game 3-1)

Carson, Crainey and Fortune serve a purpose.

Powell has been a great loan signing.

    Holt. Thank fook he’s left.

So, on reflection, Coyle’s signings aren’t all that bad. In fact, the only real flop has been Holt, who, based on his record, few could have predicted.
Cheers – great minds think alike !

Would have taken Cardiff at home, we may need a replay…could have been far worse though.

What potential though if we can get past Cardiff. 2 out of the big 4 deffo out. Definitely 1 or good chance of 2 other Championship teams in the 6th Round.

This is just starting to look a bit like last year all over again….

    Exactly.

As I said to the chap next to me yesterday down at the DW … as regards the FA Cup going back in March (replica presented), they forgot to add it’s only being lent back to the FA (couple of months) … it’s coming back to Wigan on May B) :cheer:

Seriously, were the unthinkable to happen …. would anyone (Whelan – albeit businessman) forsake promotion this year, FA Cup retention preferred ?

Once was unbelievable, two ? … well (off to the shrink)

So one of the latest excuses has been having a back line riddled with injuries ! Solution, get rid of one of them but not just anyone, one of the better ones !

    I was there.

It was a poor performance. We never got going, seemed to have thought we could coast it, and when things didn’t go our way the players didn’t seem able to shake themselves up.

So undoubtedly a poor performance, and certainly a very poor result.

But it doesn’t come anywhere near some of the bad performances we have seen in recent years, never mind what we have seen over the years.

    Sheer hyperbole.

Thanks GW, precisely my point from the outset.

As for worst result, some credibility in what bigroy says …. good number of our guys have EPL experience (several years …. some); not sure how many there are at Donny Rovers …. to go for 3 without reply, not good at all (and in my humble opinion, worse, for example, than a 2-3 Swansea home defeat.

Surely, we’re talking a different standard regarding the latter…. the good old adage, compete (not God-given right to win a football match), and ultimately quality more often than not will come through, applies ….. on paper at least (EPL experience etc.), should have been 3 points (Barnsley, Yeovil were …).Most certainly NOT 0-3. Bloody awful and extremely disappointing, no other word for it.
